Gorgeous! I'm modeling the Howard Street terminal and also part of the loop in the seventies, with 6000's of course, in N scale. It's a struggle and I'm jealous of the detail you have in O scale. Great work!

Such a great layout. Love all the different scenic vignettes. Even though the CTA runs longer trains, the rendition of the two coach trains really give a marvelous depiction of L-train traffic in relation to the city environment they run in. Absolutely marvel the way you’ve constructed the L girders, supports and bracing structures. Amazing how such simple materials can look so good when painted and weathered. The level of detail on all levels, whether ground or elevated, lamp posts, store fronts, stairwells and so on is beyond the scope of O-scale. Very interesting to see your construction stills. Even though I love the available products which depict L structures, for example the ones from ITLA, humbly think your hand built structures surpass theirs. Always a good rerun to see again, if only for the inspiration!

Nice footage. They also just brought out the two trains plus the 6000s for the 75th anniversary.

I grew up a few blocks from the Howard terminal and I'm now starting an N scale layout of the area, starting from the Jarvis station through Howard Street, the yard, and the beginning of the Skokie Swift run. I will model it as it was back in the seventies; it has been hugely enlarged since then.

Not sure if it's just me, but those trains look a lot larger on the inside than the modern ones today that are stale.

Great footage of the greatest elevated subway routes in all of America as the CTA has the MTA or NYCT (New York City Transit) beat by a long shot. SUPERB!! I can't wait to get there to ride it. Bravo CTA!

Well at least the gap between the paired cars is way more prototypical than that massive gap between the sets. That part of realism was completely ignored by MTH.

How will y'all convert the MTH CTA cars to 2 rail operation ?

Holy Cow! Boy, oh Boy! What a train layout!

This is pretty cool, NGL. The L System is just about the only case that I would seem hi rail / 3 rail O scale acceptable even though it's not prototypical. It's the same concept for electrical pickup as the actual L itself, just with the power rail in the middle. The rest needs to be proto48 IMO. Very cool layout man. Looks uncannily like Chicago.

Oh gosh, the blue line airport train, they were smooth, I used to think that the windows were tinted; they ran smooth in the subway like 2400s except they glide

I'm a native New Yorker who has had a love affair with Chicago since childhood. I had planned to make my first visit this summer but a microscopic bug has derailed those plans. This model is fantastic; the attention to details is awesome! Would love to see a model of the famous Chicago Loop in downtown Chicago! Now that would be a seriously challenging setup to build! As an urbanrailer, I love seeing subway systems from across the country and around the world! I just love subways and the whole urban transit scene! Love your work!
