Glastonbury Abbey Summer Open Day 2023

On May 8th 2023 the abbey hosted its annual open day where the community is invited in free of charge to enjoy music and activities across the abbey grounds. This year's event was staged in conjunction with the town council and was brought forward to be held earlier in the year to tie in with their coronation celebrations. It rained! A LOT.

This week's badger walk was another great success with many badger sightings in both the wildlife area and the copse as well as a visit from the fox for the first time in a while. Saw one shy badger in the wildlife walk area briefly but were treated to a great session at the fish pond watching the badgers come out to forage and play. We've had visits from a Heron in August and the ponds are full of ducks, morrhens and insects. The Badgers and Foxes continue to play and an even not so wild visitor manages to make it on camera this month.

The tor is good very windy 🌬 advice your go in a warmer day. But also Glastonbury high street is pretty good too. So many crystal shops and incense, hippy/alternative style clothing shops

Thank you for sharing this. This was perfect timing for a new project that I am doing in miniature! I am recreating this kitchen which inspired a scene in a story. I am recreating the story's version of this kitchen. Although ... didn't this kitchen used to have a loft area accessible via ladder? What happened to it? When was it taken down? Have a better day ... as I always say!
