Video Marathon 2008: Surveillance
Переглядів 6415 років тому
Part of the Copenhagen Video Marathon 2008. Time limit was to make the film in 48 hours. We didn't know the subject or our "actor" in the film before we started. Unfortunately we didn't win :(
Over 2 decades late to the firefly fandom but ever since seeing this episode I've been wandering around my day to day life mumbling "A lion? Don't really think of myself as a lion... Maybe you should though: I have a mighty roar."
"So you're a bounty hunter?" "Nah, that ain't it at all." "So what are you?" "I'm a bounty hunter..."
that's how you introduce a character
"Well... Here I am..." ~Famous last words
The fact that he's a Black man named after a Confederate General just makes him weirder and more interesting.
Does that seem right to you?
@@jimmy2k4o Does that seem wrong to you?
@@PurpleLightning6was9 not at all. I was making a joke because in the episode Early keeping saying something exceedingly strange then turning to the other person and asking “does that seem right to you?”
Does anyone but me want Jubal Early to discuss philosophy with Captain Jack Sparrow?
If you've ever seen the Expanse, consider Jubal Early and Amos Burton talking shop about killing people. And if you've not, consider watching the Expanse.
I first watched Firefly over 10 years ago. To this day, Bounty Hunter Early remains one of the most quotable characters (of the many) from the show. Props to the actor for creating arguably the most interesting and memorable villain character in the entire series and movie!
Love this show
I always use "Does that seem right to you?"
1:08 I always assumed Early's correction was "I'm a body hunter". Now I understand he's saying "I'm a bounty hunter" which complicates the exchange.
Richard Brooks is an excellent actor. He was wonderful in the first 3 seasons of Law and Order, along with so many other parts. I am not surprised how well he played the villain. I sorry that Firefly went off the air.
He was one cool cat
Something scary about a villain you can’t ever get inside the head of.
Someone who isn't even a villain necessarily, just completely certain of their idea of the world and their place in it. Early's barely worse than Mal or Jayne in terms of being casual and unrepentant about killing for money. Hell, he probably gives more thought to his victims than either. Guy clearly thinks about a lot of things.
I seem to be in the minority, but I never found the character of Jubal Early interesting or compelling at all. I know the plan was to bring him back for later appearances, had the series not been cancelled, but I found the character, with all his malicious bonhomie and stupid philosophizing to his victims, intensely irritating; and while I lament Firefly's cancellation, I am not sorry that it spared me from the further adventures of Jubal Early. Or maybe it was just the actor who played Early; after all, Whedon went a _somewhat_ similar route with the character of the Operative in Serenity, whom I did find interesting, and do not continue to dislike the way I do Early. Then too, I suspect my dislike of Early also has something to do with the fact that he was brought back from something that simply should _not_ have been survivable. And that was a mistake Whedon was also going to make with that federal agent Mal shot through the eye in the pilot episode. I get that shows like to have recurring villains, but if one is going to do that, then for God's sake at least don't resurrect them from the dead -- which is what surviving something that should not be survivable really is, essentially. Give them a _plausible_ way to come back.
i mean, as far as Early surviving, there's no reason he couldn't have some kind of emergency beacon on his person that he activates once they leave. call in some type of backup ship. he had plenty of time, so long as he had the resources. getting shot in the face is a harder sell but...i mean, humans have survived worse, and with lesser technology. it wouldn't surprise me to learn that the alliance sparred no expense ensuring the survival of the one agent they had that had personal experience with the people that 'stole' river from them.
He was honestly one of my favorite characters of the show. I like to think he would have had a recurring role had there been a 2nd season
Firefly had unique villains. This dude was batshlt insane
Awesome and intriguing performance.
Billions of people dont know this show exists and never will.
1:41 use that later with 1:42 option in the directors cut. roll back to 1:39
oh hes big oh hes hard and oh hes looking for a young white sister
Early is SO random, and doesn't actually seem to be a bad guy, but dangerous. When I originally watched this episode, I wondered if Early was a product of the same process they were trying on River, and if River (if left to the process) would have become like Early: random, odd, strange, but dangerous. I always wondered if River's instability was because the process was interrupted.
Early made Kaylee cry. You don't get any more evil than that.
He just spends a lot of time alone, not good for a person to be their own company
I mean, making rape threats solidly qualifies as evil in my book
@@akrinornoname2769 it's doubtful he would have jeopardized his mission for some hanky panky, he just wanted to quiet her so he could proceed without being compromised or having to kill her-and, being a bounty hunter, he is still held accountable by law (one of the reasons he didn't kill anyone-he is a psychopath and it would have been easier in quite a few instances but he only ever discharged his firearm in self-defense)
@Alan Smithee but when he was alone spinning off into space he was still reacting as his character would
Does she grapple with the crew? 😆
Really good performance. Great villain that I wish we could have seen more of.
Does that seem right to you?
He survived to run a prison and sell metahumans to Starbuck
Jubal is nuuuuuts 😂😂😂😂😂
One of the worst things about this series dying is that such a great character just fades out
Joseph Ricks Fr he looked so cool and his personality is just cool asf. So sad and mad they canceled this show. Least the few amount and comics and the movie continued the show for a bit but such opportunity for this universe.
Well, here I am
FACTS!!!!!!!!
And they didn't even play this one on TV 💔
Cheers for the upload I've been looking for scenes of this guy for ages

Geez...Where is this? I love it! I am from NYC, and still live here, against my will (prisoner of NY!), and HOW I WISH I could go to a lovely party like that on a Sunday.
Thanx! It was shot in a local modern church. Unfortunately didn't get access to one of the medieval churches. But this works ok. Yeah maybe i should try and post it on an online contest.
I dont get it...
