Sorry two different styles they both bring different things to the table cant say one sucks you look dumb for putting that and wtf is perrison ? Precision??
Dci sucks, Why u must ask because they sound like crap and they dont have any rhythym. HBCU on the otherhand has rythym and they really gets the fans moving
yeah, i totally agree. i mean im a corps guy myself, but i love the hbcu drumlines, they just have a certain soul about em thats unique. Cant really compare the two styles because they are so different.
Hahahaha I was gonna say something about how in sync they are for a non competitive marching band (I think?) and I see this up in the top comments. You should go to a bunch of other videos and put this there too. I'm a bit harsh on these bands too sometimes.
Im in tenth grade and i underestimated a southern style kid. it turns out that he likes the TRADITION of it. We had a 5 way battle at Famu Bandcamp this past summer. me, him and the counsler were at the same level. and im goin corps style next summer. What im tryna say is, Individually these guys are CHOPPERS.
@blooberflat22 Equivalent to 5 yrs olds and still grooves and sounds better with a band than any other line i heard so we'll just agree to disagree. How about that?
@MrUSChopper06 traditional lines groove better, because they do it with style and precision, theyre dancing and doin the equivalent of a 5 yr old bangin on trash cans
@blooberflat22 I promise u dude its not from a race standpoint to me, it's just from a hater standpoint in which your are a hater. They are complimenting the music that the rest of the band is playing. Why in the hell would you put a drum break in a song. They are playing it like the actual role in radio music. Its not meant to be hard. Its meant to be a simple GROOVE. GROOVE!!! When you groove you don't chop. You GROOVE!!! They like to groove with the band. Just like we like to hear the radio.
@MrUSChopper06 most dci style lines have paper as a basis but make up like 90%, and the reason these type of lines dont "play from paper," is because they probably cant read music, since what theyre doin is the equivalent of 5 year olds bangin on trash cans..i never said it cant be entertaining to people, its just weak from an actual skill level standpoint....oh, and please stop trying to make everything about race, its 2011....seriously
@madjical Your drumline needs to do the same thing and lets see how ya'll sound and look while playing. I would love to see it. Please entertain and impress me if ya'll can do better. Please do Im begging you.
@madjical Its doesn't matter who invented them. All that matters is who can play them and this very same drumline can easily. Point blank period. They are just putting in what goes good with the song and won't overplay. That's what musicians call pocket.
@blooberflat22 When it comes to playing with the band in the stands? R u serious dude? I played in a course band. Traditional has way more flavor the course. Simply because Traditional plays from the soul course (or white boy drumlines) only plays from paper. No soul or feeling what so ever. Please stop bringing racism and hate into this. Ya'll play this song and put it on youtube and lets see how good your DCI drumline buddies sound playing this song.
@madjical Actually WT or (JSU's Drumline as only you can identify them) chops the first 40 and then chops the hybrids. They even put their own hybrids into the next hybrids. They'll chop just as hard as you and your DCI boys if not harder. Sorry.
@madjical i will love for you to take out some time to view a youtube clip to give you more insight on this band and other similar style bands. The band director breaks it down to what they're trying to accomplish, write on my wall and tell me what you think... Type: JSU WT Day of Percussion
@madjical U wouldn't understand, the type of songs they play aren't meant for DCI corp. style.. They are Radio tunes R&B and Rap, they're meant to groove and add funk to the songs... JSU can get on corp. also, trust me... but then again you wouldn't understand.. Maybe its a black thing
i said rudiments not cadences the rudiment at the end is a chesse dude thats wat i am saying i know my rudiments i play em everyday in class they aint nun but some right chesse

@licebuddies Cuz pocket makes the song way better than DCI material. Ya'll challenge JSU and see how middle school thay really are.
