Hey! We are Charlotte and Carlos, a couple who moved from South London to an abandoned farm in the Portuguese mountains. Follow us as we document adapting to our new lives here in rural Portugal. From farm renovation, to local food. Sightseeing, to growing our own food. There is going to be a lot of ups and downs and we hope you join us along for the ride!

Enjoy!

Restoring An Abandoned Portuguese Farm | Removing Out Of Control Brambles From our Home
Next time your dog pees in the house, rub his nose in it and yell, "NO!" then put him outside. It seems mean, but he'll understand that it's unacceptable. Good luck!
cheers!
Its many years since I have been to Portugal but I loved the little tins of sardine paste. When family members visited I used to insist they brought me some back. I'm vegan now so I'm trying to learn to like eating olives lol
Paint is such a magical makeover. Your home is so full of energy with all the sweet fur babies. I hope the chimney issues gets solved soon and cheaply 😊
Twin wall tube is about 68€ per meter. Add a chimney top and an adapter from the fire to the twin wall. For 5 meters your looking at about 450-500 euro. You could get a chimney liner (cheaper) which you'll find online at 2.5m lengths.
Sometimes life is like wading through mud and those times we need to exercise our grattitude muscles and celebrate any wins however small.
Yay same painting done well done xx
@@kimselway4810 we will get more done this week don’t you worry 😜
I love him calling you out Charlotte you do love to manage and talk and he does the doing 😂😂😂
@@kimselway4810 😅 if I didn’t do the worrying trust me it would be chaos 😂 well more than it already is ahaha
Hold on to your marbles! 😂everything is gonna be alright and its fixable ❤ be assertive with your commands to the doggos and be aware of the energy transmited.(if youre ansious at bed time due the previous pee events they feel it) as they get old it gets better/easier ❤ plse investigate if milk is ok for dogs😊 there are some reusable pee training carpets online Very nicely donne hard work! (in previous videos as well)🎉😊 Chill lovely lady youre achieving a lot! 😽👏🏻 fav wine: a few from Casa Ferreirinha like "Papa Figos" or "Esteva" cheese difficult to choose 😅 maybe the ones from Serra da Estrela, the azorean cheese is also good! what about yours so far?
@@cilenee haha don’t worry marbles still very much here 😂 its not at bed time they usually sleep right through till 8. However they are at teething age and we bought extra toys and chews for them but the sofa is just their favourite thing and I just have to watch them like a hawk at the moment. We will get there 😅 also a very big papa figos fan 😋
We used to have a Corgi who would pee on the beds and the sofa. Ending up getting a waterproof mattress pad and putting the sofa covers in large garbage bags under a slipcover. His motive was essentially marking territory, a lot more nefarious that your precious girl.
Just look at u 😊
Why dont u ask nick he will tell the truth
@@jeanmeyer8194 I think Carlos has had a chat with our neighbour builder since. We just want the whole thing replaced for peace of mind at this point 😂 what we couldn’t understand is we have worked with them before and we’re showing photos, videos ect. Can’t work out why we couldn’t just get a rough estimate from what he knew already instead of trying to find the cheapest fix. That’s what got us in this mess in the first place 😅
U go girl unravel😊
Have you thought of getting cages for the pups at night time might stop them ripping things good luck to you both
@@jeanettenicholas2863 we have looked but aparently there is a supply issue. According to our local pet supply shop anyway. We have looked in all the farm shops aswell but the prices have been driven up really high and for the past couple of months things were tight for us. Hoping now we are back on track we can get one soon as they definitely help
Ohhh Gatinha💝🥰 Love to see the blackish one too. Only miss Lucky… The house will be beautiful, just a litlle more TLC and it would be good that the puppies got adopted… All the best to you 👍💝🥰 Don’t like wine… favorite cheese is Castelões😋
Bon dia
The main potato you plant is the one that rots.
Rosehip syrup is really good for colds aswell. Full of vitamin C xx

Hi there if you want to learn some Portuguese in a really fun way you will find numerous songs on our channel with Portuguese to english translations and visa versa
I keep thinking you are going to come across an old car or a tractor lololol If you prune the apple trees, they should produce within 2 years. There are videos on how to hard prune apple trees.
Hello you two, I used to keep my dog food in a peddle bin, until I realised my dog had learned to put her paw on foot bit lid comes up ,dog head inside eating food, very clever dog lol.
They are so sneaky! 😅😂

7:39 you could cut the trees down and dig them up and move them to a better spot if they’re worth keeping. Rose bush beneath a window seems like the best place. 😂 Natural intruder determent. Not too mention lovely flowers outside your window and hopefully beautiful smelling roses. 🌹 Just trim often to keep it tame. 😊
We have soooo many Amal apple trees which are shooters from our really old orchard. I don’t think we have explained it a lot but some of them are like weeds down the bottom of the land and are trying to take over. 😅 any way we don’t mind cutting down a few of t means better access as we have so many apoleavas is
Hi guys, I love your videos! The 'sausage' flavour actually comes from a preservative called sodium nitrate, which is linked to bowel cancer. Using fresh meat means your sausages will taste more like a rissole but it's much healthier ❤
Oh goodness so much work again! It is a looot… Carlos you need HELP! I miss Gatinha, where is she? All the best to you both 💝
She’s around dw. She was a stray cat so she likes her space and hunting so she is not always around for filming time. We have found out that she sometimes sleeps at our neighbours aswell 😅 although I think her favourite spot is sitting on my lap when I edit ❤️
@@TheSunnySaudadeProject💝😘
Great, now that you're indoors more, you might be able to throw some paint on those walls.
😂😅 I think our bedroom will be the first place. We are hoping to make it muchões cozy as we are expecting a cold winter this year so want to hide away in there of an evening as much as possible 😊
Carlos, you are doing a great job. And yes Charlotte, you are also doing good to preserve as much as you can. Do you know that you can also make thee and jam from rose petal.

I wonder if you could make your own diving/dowsing rods to look for water? I do remember watching a video years ago where a guy made some from metal coat hangers, might be fun to try.💕
Happy anniversary you two 🎉 why is strimming so satisfying to watch? Love watching a sped up weed whacking sesh. Have a great week.
Clear your land and walk around and look for water mines.
@@darbylongoria8737 we found a spring last year lower down. I had a look last year but it’s very steep. Let’s see if we find anymore this year 😊
Happy wedding anniversary!
Chestnut trees bloom in summer, mainly from the beginning of June to the end of July. After that, the chestnuts fall, and that's when you can harvest them. You shouldn't pick chestnuts directly from the tree, you should wait until they are on the ground. Harvesting takes place in autumn, from the end of September to mid-November.
Get a metal mulching bit for your strimmer. It has curved down edges and makes light work of the brambles and stuff.
@@matthunt2128 we have a few different blades il see if we have one 😊💪
Although obviously you can't use metal all year 😁
Hope your chestnuts are ready soon x
There is an awful lot of ground to cut so maybe some form of mechanisation would be good to keep you fire safe.
@@jpennturner I want a donkey but I don’t think Carlos is ready for any more animals. 😂 I think eventually we will get a tractor but until access is repaired and the huge brambles are gone we can’t really use one. 🤞by the end of winter we will be much closer to tractor time
