2007 HONDA PILOT - HVAC MODE ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT
Replacement of HVAC Mode Actuator motor in 2007 Honda Pilot (I believe 2006-2008 are the same). Air conditioning/heater was not switching from front vents to defrost vents. This is the motor located on the DRIVER'S side under the dash that controls which vents the air circulates in. Many videos show the HVAC Blend Door Actuator which is found on the passenger side but that is only to change temperature. Hopefully this helps some people looking for help!
The part was $110 at my local auto parts store (in 2023). Be SURE you get the right part - I had to show them on their screen which part it was as they almost gave me the Blend Door Actuator and not the MODE Actuator.

BEFORE U REPLACE MOTOR, READ THIS AND SAVE MONEY...Great video, never thought sound was the motors, but in the center. What I found was the piece of metal rod from motor to divertor door causing the noise. The clip holding it broke. So as the motor spins that piece of metal is Jamming the motor making that clicking noise. Bad thing Honda doesn't sell those clips. Will have to buy Door Lock replacement clips from Oreillys or Autozone. I got lucky and honda tech had clip close to one broken. So I pushed in and took tiny tiewrap around clip and rod. Problem fixed.

Yo the he'll is the other part you first looked at? I can't find it anywhere because the name isn't the same in my manual I guess.

just seeing this. The part I first showed is the Blend Door actuator (under the passenger side). It controls the temperature. You can find tons of videos on replacing THAT part. At the time I posted my video, there was nothing on replacing the Mode Actuator motor (under the driver's side).

Very useful. Somebody else took it of and when I tried to put the new one back, it didn't fit 😅. So after watching your video it was easy. Thank you

Nice video and thanks for sharing. I have a 2009 Honda Pilot. The center AC vents don't blow anymore. All other vents work except center ones in the front. Bottom, sides, rear all work except center AC vents

sounds like this would fix it but the 2009 is a different body style so I'm not sure the part and location are the same. Better to double check with Honda first if you can't find them. :)

from my search on Honda parts the part number seems to be 79140-S0X-A01 ($308) for 2006-2008 Pilot. The part I bought was not OEM but from Autozone part# MT18693 Santech (for $112)

Thanks man! This is what I needed to know! Thank you for distinguishing between the MODE and BLEND actuator! Great info! PS Why the gloves?

Glad this helped! I'm not a mechanic so whenever I work on my car I get cuts and pinched all the time. Happens less when wearing gloves!
