My first video about building my off grid homestead in the mountains of Kentucky. #offgrid #homestead #kentucky
Thank YOU for sharing this real world experience video. I am looking at what it will cost to create a barn/building like yours, and I appreciate the info.
Do you like how much room is above the mezzanine with the 12ft tall building or do you wish you went taller on your building?
how do you lock the window
They provide both a wedge lock and a sash lock.
What exactly are you using to fasten to metal ?
very cool 😏
Depends on what the building is used for but it looks like the building will be super cold in the winter for Kentucky. The vertical panels were a good choice for condensation.
Do you know there is some problem with your channel?Because of these reasons your channel views subscribers are not increasing
Looking good. Thinking about building a SIP house myself. Where you happy with Eco Panels of Tenesseee?
Yes, for the most part. It was my first SIP house so I didn't know exactly what to expect. My design was very simple, a more complex design could be a challenge, the panels cannot be made to 0 tolerance, so some adjustments have to be made in the field. Thanks and good luck.
Nicely done, thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your costs, for people who are just starting to think about putting up a building and are getting price information on a piecemeal basis, this helps tremendously, enjoy your new place. Cheers.
Don’t we need to support the wire mesh so they are in the middle of the slab?
They were pulling the mesh up as they poured, the video might not show it, I doubt if it ended up in the middle, but it is off the bottom some.
Which parts of labor were contracted out please? I see you did most by yourself. Thanks!
Hi Dave, any cons with rolling doors? Thanks
Did you rent these heavy equipment?
No, that's not me in the dozer.
Good plan and good layout!
your content quality is good but your channel"s video tags /CHANNEL TAG SECTION NEED OPTIMIZATION FOR MORE ORGANIC GROWTH. Are you concern about your youtube Growth?
Impressive building! Those concrete cost though whoa! Do you know how this price compares to a wood structure of same design?
I don't, sorry, I tried though, I met with 2 different general contractors and went through my drawings and neither of them ever got back to me with pricing, that's very typical here in Kentucky.
COOL EXAMPLE! I'm looking at estimates myself😊
What’s your joist spacing? 12” or 16” OC?
16"
Thanks.
What insulation did you use? Please post a link.

hey mate, not a good pour, the mesh is at the botton of the slab sitting on the foam. It should have 2 inch coverage to stop water penetration causing rust to develop in the steel mesh. The mesh will rust in no time which will expand and cause cracks in the slab. sorry mate, learn the basics of slab pouring and the location for reinforcing bars. 0 / 10
Watching you drive that bobcat reminds me of Wall-E! nice job! -TH
I love that show, he's like a miniature Johnny 5.
Thanks for sharing your costs with us. Building anything is very expensive. 🫡
Thank you ,enjoy your journey.
Thanks for sharing! Very helpful.
I went with the same company as you. I live in MA and we have a local rep in our area that someone recommended. Good to hear another positive experience with them. You're lucky you didn't have to do frost walls 4' deep like me it drove the cost up. Great looking garage!
Would you share who you got your building from. Looking to get a building and really like this one. Thank you.
Best Choice Metal Structures, Elkin, N.C. 877-683-1168 www.bestchoicemetalstructures.com Be careful, there are other companies with similar names. I was very pleased with them, I have 2 more metal buildings to put up and I plan on using them again. The foreman on my crew was Javier, I would also highly recommend him.
Thanks
I recall you framing back in the '70s!
Thanks for sharing, what did you seal the garage floor with?
I'm not sure what it was, the concrete contractor ordered it from the batch plant and it was brought with the 3rd mixer truck delivery.
ok thank you sir, im also exploring the BlueTex insulation (6mm). How has it been since it has been installed? @@Davetator
I like it. I'm not planning to heat and cool the building, I mainly wanted the foil to reflect the heat from the metal roof in the summer and it does, I was installing it in the summer and it immediately lowered the temperature in the building by 20 degrees, maybe more, and you can tell it is real foil, some products are just a sprayed on metallic paint. It is also very durable, I was dragging it across metal rails on the skyjack and I never had 1 tear.@@curtisturney3467
Pretty cool to see those trees come down like that! I was curious what did you use to seal up your concrete? I have been looking into sealing mine up

@@Davetator okay thank you
Watching those trees come down was so satisfying, and the slab turned out beautifully! Thanks for sharing this journey with the internet.
