How does the rollower know she is supposed to switch feet and rock step on her left foot? I do a similar move but the follower rock steps on her right foot. Cross in front with a triple step and rock step on her left. Cross back and then out.
Do you mean after the handshake hold, back rock, then one chasse?
@@sunstrikedancesportjymcole Yes. From right to right. There is 4 beats of the music for her to end up beside you where she should do a rock step with her right foot. 2 beats for the rock step. then 2 beats to get to your other side where she does a rock step with her left. The follower has to get back to your right to get out. You can't get out from a left foot bak step. I can see in the video your partner holding a sep to change feet. On a separate note I like to change hands in a more subtle way. Doing an underhand turn or a right side pass and bring the followers right hand down into my right hand. The follower doesn't even know I changed hands. A waist turn is another option.
The point of the lesson was to get the students to brainstorm different ideas on how to end the step. There a multitude of variations in swing.
@@sunstrikedancesportjymcole I'm not sure what you meant. My "separate note" was talking about how to get a right to right at the beginning of the move. I completely agree that there are many ways to get into a right to right as well as many ways to get out of a cuddle. Ten different instructors will give you nine different ways to do it.
Exactly. What we decided to to do was a back rock to an American spin variation to a left chasse
Looks pretty easy. Will give it a try!
Enjoy
love this, Can you bring this to a MASSabda dance sometime soon? And Brian Susan. :)
Absolutely
❤❤❤
Thank you
Can't hear you.
Can't hear you.
Having issues with a mic. Later videos sound is much better. Sorry.
Living in Florida for the past 10 years just watching that is making me shiver. Below 70 here is COLD! 🥶 I’ll stick to dancing. 💃🏿🕺 Enjoy your time on the slopes!
It was in the mid 20’s
Good stuff as usual!
Thank you my friend!
Can't hear you.
Sorry about that. Working on some mic issues.
Great basic tango moves. Never saw the ronde flick move but am familiar with the ronde and flick individually. Again seems pretty easy and looks nice. Will have to try it. 👍
Glad you enjoyed!
I like all these moves.
Thanks Brian!
❤❤❤
Thank you
❤❤❤
Thank you
Great video! Well taught 👏
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed
Are you teaching the same type of Samba on Jan 27th ?
Yup
"Promo SM" 🌺
👏
Thank you John
Nice basic moves for Bolero. Thanks again for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed.
Are u using the binddings which came with tem, and if you do not mine, which boot size u are running. I am not sure can stock bindings accommodate my 44eu boot (because I am thinking of getting a pair od 50% discount atm)
My bindings are adjustable demo bindings. They fit my boot easily with room to spare. My boot size is 29.5
WOW! What a difference. Love it. Nice to be able to hear you
Thank you again for the microphone!
NIce! I like that open box at 2.09. If I can just that that to the social dance floor, I'll be happy.
You have to slow practice it! You will nail it!
You are a good teacher, Jim! I like how you explain each step as you go along. Also I like your new hairstyle and spectator dance shoes!
Glad you like the hair!
great job by the videographer. :)
He’s the best!
Hey that's Wachusett! I knew I saw another skiboarder there one day
Yes sir!
Thank you for the free lesson. This upload seems like it was done during the covid shutdowns.
Yup. I call them a bunker video!
"Roll out" the lady at qqs and pose at s. Then you can do either the grapevine and cha cha figures. Awesome. Thank you very much.
Glad you can use it
Thank you for the choreography. I will figure out how to fit the figures to the basic figure qqs s.
Thank you so much. ⚘💚🧡
Glad you enjoyed
That is a masterpiece! Beautiful!
Thank you. This was Christina’s first showcase with me, she worked really hard on it.
It shows. She did a great job!
Love the look of this. Looks like you guys are gliding.
Thank you
Looking great Sue and Jym! Miss you guys!
Miss you too !
Excellent! “Norman My Love!”
Good stuff but like MOST dance vids this is frustrating because we never see the complete step. Most of us would like to see where we're going BEFORE we see how to get there. Demonstrate the complete step THEN chop it into parts.
Good points. These steps were taught individually then put into a routine. Stay posted and I will release the routine
I love the Peabody! Only one teacher down here in Leesburg, Fl ever taught it but he stopped for the pandemic and never restarted the class after things settled down. Is there a bit of upper body motion as part of the steps? In most dances upper body motion is frowned upon and we’re told “too much top”.
Actually a little bit is a characteristic of the dance
Nice to see Susan again. Can't wait to try Peabody on Aug 3rd at DNE
Looks difficult, but I want to try it.
Hi Miriam. Thank you for the dances tonight. I should have reviewed this video beforehand.
That was FANTASTIC! Wow! Great dip! Not too many people even heard of the Peabody much less dance it. We had a teacher that taught it occasional down here in Florida but he stopped his classes during the pandemic and never started them up again.
Thanks John. Teaching it tonight for the group lesson
Great. Love the amount of energy.
Thank you!
Beautiful and and poignant tribute to your mother on this Memorial Day. Blessed repose and eternal memory to the soul of your mother.
Thank you
Hey Jym, I have another quick question: what dances do your students have the most difficulty learning? Recently we’ve been covering the WC Swing and NC 2 Step in 2 of our informal retirement community classes here and find them the most difficult to learn for me. Do you have any videos posted for them? Thanks, John
Wc swing is very difficult at first , especially if you come from a ballroom background. Ft he basic concept are backwards. NC 2 step is so similar in feel to bolero I end up doing bolero
Once you learn the basics, then the fun begins
You hit a lot of basic Bronze Level stuff nicely done! I like that it was Triathlon of dances. Thanks for sharing.
It was my first competition. Very stiff and unsure of myself.
@@sunstrikedancesportjymcole you got to take that first step. Main thing is you’ve gotten better and more comfortable over the years to the point that you’re comfortable sharing your talents with the rest of us online. It’s especially helpful to reinforce and clarify points that I’m uncertain of as well as to learn some new things. Thanks again for sharing!
What count do you use for box steps in Foxtrot? S QQ S QQ vs SSQQ when traveling ? Yes. The natural turing box can mess with you if you don’t use it a lot. I keep say in my head “forward right, back left” over and over in my head until my muscle memory finally gets it.
I love your questions! It is sqq sqq. It’s called box timing. It is similar to waltz. Waltz if broken down in slows and quicks would be qqs
The right turns are difficult at first, but just keep doing them- slowly. When you do it slow you can catch your errors and fix them. Eventually you master it. Just keeping them until you longer have to think it
Congratulations! So much work goes into making it look so elegant!
Thanks John. I know how hard you work on getting better!
Very beautiful! ❤ I’m so jealous. Only in my dreams. But I keep trying. Keep up the good work and posting your videos. They’re helpful and I appreciate that you take the time to share them.
Thanks John. Means a lot!
Christina did an excellent job in your showcase! 💃🏿. Has she been dancing long?
She started a year before I did.
Excellent performance! Very beautiful! Love your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks John!
Other than the hold, what signal is given to follower that you are about to go into lock steps? Thank you!
It is the forward step without rotation. It is subtle, the follower has to already know the step .
