Beatar Mangethe Khumalo was a very gifted actress and singer who trained at Amakhosi Theatre under Cont Mhlanga. Her real full name was Beatar Khumalo, but Cont Mhlanga introduced Mangethe which was part of her totem so that she would not seem to be copycat of the South African actress Lelethi Khumalo. She was married to the late former Dynamos defender Lenny Gwata.
Beatar become famous when she acted the role of Hlengiwe mtanami in the local drama in the 1990s and was also know for her great single titled 'I come from Makokoba'. In 2007 Beatar also did a popular album collaboration with the great sungura artist Alick Macheso called Succeed, with hit track titled Mafaro.
This track is about her childhood background where she acknowledges that she was born and bred in Makokoba, which is one of the oldest township in the city of Bulawayo in Zimbabwe.
