Move to Plan B

Sometimes the place you select doesn't pan out. So you need to know when to give up and move. In this hunt, despite my best efforts, the location does not deliver the goods. So we move and things get much better. #metaldetecting #treasurehunters #manticore #minelab

Unusual results from one tiny tot lot
Ive never cleaned my coins, the loonies ive beought back pretty dark, its the brass ones that look horrible, the bronze ones always look fairly good even from the dirt I brought about $160 back to the bank this year I have one jar i throw any coin with a spec of rust into, to be honest i dont have too many in there considering The rest i just roll, even though some of the nickel coins look pretty dark I keep all my copper pennies and nickel nickels, they are both worth a lot more than face Sometimes when i coin roll hunt ill also keep the cupronickel nickels, but metal detecting i roll them for the bank idk why, the cuprinickel nickels are only worth 6 cents each in scrap, but one day they may be worth more idk Zinc pennies i bring to the bank even though they are so bad they dont even look like pennies, they are just to be sent off to be destroyed anyways, so i dont feel bad bring black pockmarked disintegrated pennies back to the bank 🏦 Over the last two years (since april 2023) ive only found a little more then 7 rolls of copper pennies, and about the same amount of zinc and steel pennies combined Loreate portrait is to 1964 not 1965 😅
You can also check inside there are 2 differnt size connections.. just align the large to the large and small to small.. you can't go wrong...
The bad sounding toonies and loonies were made after 2012 The bad sounding nickels, dines and quarters were made after 2000 The bad sounding pennies were made after 1996
The penny surprised me. On the Manticore with the M9 coil they usually ring up as mid tones. Will certainly pay more attention to that in the future. Always enjoy your insights.
Weve even had a week of rain in southern and creeping into central ontario, im in Toronto for new years and its diggable been out the 30th, 31st, and going out in an hour on the 1st My friend back in my town said the rain has even melted through the snow enough there and we had a bunch of snow, it was snowy when i left on the 29th Supposed to be snowing again today there so it will probably be too snowy to hunt when i get back tonight
Enjoy the day. Hope you find lots of goodies :)
That was a good Hunt Trent
Thanks !
That's not a blank, it IS the bullet from a fired round
Cool! Any idea what it is filled with? It's a hard white substance but I can't figure it out.
Nice Trent! I was out today at a decent TL in Whiterock.
Nice! Find anything good?
Actually one of my best lots so far over 4 dollars in change and a few interesting bits ... but a fantastic interaction with users of the park. It was a very busy TL with many explanations and even one Lady who came over just to thank me for cleaning up for the kids safety. At one point I must of had 15 kids circling me.....
@@MicahsMotleyMissionDetectorist Sounds like a great time :)
I use the same method! Thanks for the confirmation.
I love your videos Trent , great job
Thank you, very much appreciated :)
I covered Tot Lot #2 a couple months ago, if I recall i didnt find anything either :)
Well that explains the lack of finds lol
👍
I just googled kinetic sand, they sell it on Amazon, that coin comes from the "buried treasure" version, I'm surprised they actually made it of metal and not plastic, it looks plastic on the Amazon picture
I had not thought of that but I think you are right. It is surprising it is metal.
The Butterfly of the ring looks like it is porcelain enamel on copper. I learned how to make them and fired them in a kiln in Art in Highschool.
Very cool. For a kids adjustable ring, it is a pretty nice one.
Pennies are better than bottle caps, i dug like 10 rolls of pennies this year 2024, and half of them were copper which i kept, the other half were totally destroyed zinc and steel pennies, which i brought back to the bank, it dosnt matter because all pennies are just sent to the ARP anyways to be destroyed, so i dont feel bad giving them horrible zinc and steel pennies that are like just black discs lol, it worked out perfectly because without pennies i had $158 dollars of coin, so the pennies brought it up to a even $160 i got back
Nice hunt, Trent. I am hoping to get out tomorrow for a few hours but the white overburden just started falling here in the Ok Valley. Hopefully it is too warm for it to stick lower down near the lake.
Thanks Karen! Hope you get out and find awesome treasures :)
The land or sea pin pointer I have, causes a lot of interference w/my Terra Pro . Time for new pointer . FYI !
I'm not familiar with the Land or Sea pinpointer, I use the Garret and have no issues with interference. If you go with the Garret, do check out my short video on it.
@@trentstreasurehunts They cost over $100. not really waterproof . It quit on me when it was muddy. But cleaned it and kept working . Works ok w/ Garrett detectors I have .
$5 is okay id be happy with $5 on the day, i save all my change till the end of the year so i have a bunch to bring to the bank, it ends up being a good chunk, after adding in some of my store change i went to the bank with $160 in 2024, i hope to get $250 or even $300 in 2025, when i hunt i usually dont stay out for long, going to try and stay out for longer each session in 2025
I do enjoy bringing in a couple/three hundred bucks at the end of the year as well.
Do you hunt in multifrequency or single frequency? That dime you found the first coin of the hunt sounded like a steel core coin in multifrequency to me, the iron grunt with nonrepeatable higher tone, steel core coins sound much better in higher single frequencies, on the deus 1 i usually hunt in 32khz and on the legend i hunt in 40khz cause i get good signals on the canadian clad Do you find more copper pennies then steel or zinc pennies? In my area i find that i find more copper pennies than non copper pennies, but i guess it makes sense because zinc/steel were only made for a short time before we got rid of the penny On the deus 1 with high frequency coils steel core clad sounds a lot like a bottlecap, theres a distinctive grindy noise when you go over iron like a coin or a bottlecap on the deus 1, i can call out steel core loonies because they give the grindy noise along with a high tone due to the brass plating
I hunt in multi and, when in the tot lots, low sensitivity all metal. I approach them like the beach. It's easy to dig so you may as well dig it all. With regard to pennies, the copper ones ring up beautifully and I can (almost) always know them before I dig them. Also, I dig all of them , well, because I can't resist the tone. Definitely find more copper ones than zinc. I think you are right, because there are fewer of them but, for me, I can't resist that nice tone :) Great insight and info on the Deus. I hope one day to get my hands on one to try it out. I am told they make some great machines :)
HOLY CRAP, Gold pocket watch!! That's amazing.
Canadian Coin drives me bonkers with my Fisher too. Found some loonies in the dark, got them home to clean them up and found a Canadian 1917 Large Cent. They all rang off nearly the same numbers. Pleasant surprise because it was my first Large Cent in a very heavily detected park.
Arn't they the worst? Surprised the large cent rang up like the modern clad. I would have thought that big disc of copper to ring up beautifully. :)
I would rather cherry pick for gold, my back couldn't hack all those digs.
I hear ya, more and more as I get older ;)
Great hunt Trent.
Great hunt Trent.
Thanks mate!
Fun Fun! I use to treasure hunt with my metal detector.
Still lots to find out there :)
I know this is a year old but one thing you gotta do with the pro when you get a good signal is turn 90 degrees on it and see if the signal repeats. If not, move on.
I agree completely,
Thank you for this tip. I'm a beginner and just bought the X-Terra Pro. I'm loving learning how to use it.
Ive had the predator model 65 Ranger with a D handle now for many months and I love it. Its light yet heavy duty. My friend has that same exact black shovel from the video and watching him dig a plug looks uncomfortable as its super small as far as the blade goes, very limited area for your foot to get a grip and the blade is too narrow. I for one dont want to spend more time than necessary just trying to get to my targets...with the Ranger its 3 cuts and pop the plug, plus the blade is narrow enough to scoop dirt out if you need to go deeper. I havent needed to carry my hand digger since I purchased it which conserves weight. With the model 65 you can choose your desired length so your not hunching down unlike the one size fits all brands. While it was expensive I have no regrets, any detecting spade that you can customize the grip and the height is a winner.
Awesome feedback mate! I think you make some great points.
I'm a predator phoenix shovel fanboy ⛏️ 🐦🔥
The foot peg on the Anaconda but I like the Predator
Cmon. It's not a flaw! You should never use your nail on a rubber button on anything! Of course it'll dig in and make a hole eventually! Jeese! Some people.......
I have to agree with you. But some people press with their finger tips and ruin their Pinpointer. I suppose it doesn't help that the manual that comes with it, shows the button being pressed with the finger tip. Great comment though :)
@@trentstreasurehunts Thanks buddy! 👍
Thanks for the great hunt mate! Looking forward to many more digs👍👊
Those little nails and little specks of metal that are hard to find In the wood chips. What I do is, I bought a very very strong magnet and it helps a lot for finding those little specs of metal and you Don’t have to be there all day, listening to the chirp on your pin pointer. Just thought I’d give you that little suggestion keep up the good work there maybe I’ll bump into you. One of these days While detecting Vancouver Richmond, etc.
That is a really great tip. Thank you!
Nice place to be detecting. Best wishes and happy hunting out there from wet windy darkest Lancashire, England.
Many thanks!
Great little hunt! The smaller coils are great for high separation of targets while still maintaining good depth!
They certainly are :)
very helpful thanks , got mine in a few days and as any red blooded man is supposed to do i threw instructions in trash right away smh
Let me know how it works for you. I find mine had a tendency to false a lot.
Last week Michael and I were doing a playground and I ended up with 3 kids tagging along to learn and asking their parents for detectors. It was fun.
Nice. Keep planting the seeds. Some will sprout :)
Nice hunt
thank you
That's Pandora
thank you
Im also in canada but ontario, sometimes theres just not much to find, other times theres something great to be found, too bad we dont have xray vision and knew where to swing over, i wonder how many times i missed treasure buy an inch and left empty handed
I know exactly what you mean. I often wonder how much gold I have walked over because I was tired of digging low tones :)
The little tiny item looks like it could be a pin back from a Ladies lapel pin or a mens tie pin. My Dad had some from his Dad from the 50s and 60s when he worked in a Jewelry store in Maple Ridge.
Thanks Karen. That is certainly a possibility.
What is that, at 17:04? Seemed interesting and still watching, in case you mention later.
It turned out to be a giant Zippo lighter. Maybe for fireplaces or camp fires? It's about a foot long.
Try the 9 inch coil if you get a chance. It has excellent target separation like the M8 but a fair amount of additional depth.
I will certainly have to check it out. Just as soon as I can afford to part with another $350 :)
How did I miss that there was a 9 inch coil out now!? I haven't been paying attention lately it seems. Something to add to my christmas list 🤩. The M8 coil is great though.
@@ScoopyJoe Yup, I waffled back and forth whether to choose the 8" or 9". In the end, as you can see, the sniper coil won out. If I did more beach detecting I would have gone with the 9"
@trentstreasurehunts I do love the M8 for the rocky areas around false creek.
Holy heck that was an awesome hunt! Gratz on the watch :)
Thank you. Was rather shocked and in disbelief until I tested it at home :)
Nice hunt
thanks mate!
Me and my friend saw you at the park today!
At 7:32 I notice you were in ALL METAL mode and than the clip right after you didn't have ALL METAL turned on. Do you flip between the two or did you just forget to turn it on and a new location. I find the moment I get to a new location I have to mentally remind myself to always turn on ALL METAL or else I'll miss all the Loonie signals.
I probably forgot to turn it on at a new location. In tot lots I always run all metal to catch the coins. But sometimes I forget. I guess it's the excitement to get started.
Enjoyed the hunt, keep up the good work cleaning up the tot lots.
Will do :)
A great hunt Trent , keep finding those treasures
Thanks mate!
It is a little bell off a broom skirt. I have several of the skirts.
Thank you so much for attending our Annual Hunt. It was fabulous to meet you. It was so Awesome that you came and Videoed your experience at our hunt. We really Appreciate it. We hope to see you again. Good Luck with the Canada Playground Clean Up.
The pleasure was all mine. Can't wait until next year.
thanks .
