Glenmorangie: A Tale of Cake vs A Tale of Ice Cream
Переглядів 13021 годину тому
A Tale of Cake: Some time ago, our Director of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill, found himself musing over how some of his most joyful memories came from cake - from the pineapple upside down cake his daughter made for his birthday to baking with his Granny in her kitchen. He devised this whisky to conjure the magic of a cake moment, finishing his favourite Glenmorangie Single Malt in the finest Tokaji...

Thanks for the Review. I am luck enough to have one of each and dying to get my hands on another Cake. We were lucky enough to find one at the Whisky Live show last year and will be checking again on Friday. All the best and thanks again.
This one is definitely going to finish sooner than I thought......
Brilliant review! Cheers 🥃
Thank you
We take two of the A tale of series from Glenmorangie and put them head to head
750ml is standard not just in South Africa.
Yes, its a standard in America too and a few other Countries. However in 1992 the EU changed the regulations to a 700ml bottle.
Curious in the last 2 weeks has it opened up/improved ? Cheers 🥃
Firstly its an honor to have you comment. I watch all your videos so Thank you. It has absolutely improved, Had another dram today and it was sweeter and smoother than when first opening.
@@whiskymad good to know thanks 🙏 I’ve got a bottle coming and was curious if I should get a back up. Cheers 🥃
Great review! Definitely going to grab a bottle 🥃
Thanks very much for the kind words

I really love this whisky. I have emptied one bottle, but luckily I have four unopened in the back of the closet. Hope they do more of this in the future. ❤
I am sure they will, being a young distillery I am sure they have plans to expand

Got more than 100 bottles of scotch and irish whiskies in my bar. This Irishman was the worst irish whiskey I've ever tasted. The green spot is far superior! There is no comparison!
Hey There, Thanks for watching the video and your feedback. I enjoyed both whiskies and I think my palate went in a different direction on the night. Its quite funny that when you remove one of your senses (Sight) how different things taste. Cheers
"These are the only two single pot still, triple distilled Irish whiskies on my shelf" Um, so those are just boxes behind you then because there quite a few of them. And one of the ones you tried wasn't even a single pot still, it was a blend of single malt and single pot still.
Hi There, thanks for watching and pointing out my mistake. maybe I should of rephrased my statement. "Its the only 2 I wanted to open" see in South Africa we get very small allocations so stuff is super rare here in South Africa. I can assure you though that everybox behind me has a bottle in it. Thanks again
On the palate gentle waves of fresh fruit peppered with ginger emerge ahead of a light, clean finish.

We have this Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition I really need to try. We even sell it in 375ml. Its aged in stout craft beer seasoned barrels. It sounds perfect for winter.
The only Japanese whisky I've tried was during a sampling at work, it was Hibiki Japanese Harmony Whisky. It's kinda expensive though. It's also from the Suntory (West) region. It was alright. I think I'm just so much more accustomed to bourbon.
Japanese have some really nice nice whiskies. Explore with whats available.
This sells CRAZY at the liquor store I work at. It sells for about $34.99 USD at my shop. It's on my list to try. Your initial facial response on tasting it tells me maybe its not your favorite lol.
I was not sold on it right away but as you drink it, it starts to grow on you.
Glenlivet 12 is one of my favorites of all time. To me it has like a bright apple (green apple) taste to it. I also haven't had Glenfiddich 12 so I'm not sure what it tastes like.
Bought this bottle today at the liquor store I work at because it was the last bottle and we just got it in a few days ago. I'm excited to try. I love Tully to begin with. The cider cask one they have is my favorite.
Not a fan of either! Love peated single malts but I enjoyed your video! Thanks!🙏
Thank you, I will do a peated version soon
It's not a fair fight if one is neck pour and one is not 😂

My three for beginners: Aberlour 12, talisker 10, glen scotia double cask
Lots of powerful flavours in those three. I would worry the peatiness in the talisker might put beginners off, but great choice
Battle of the mixers......
Them bro living the soft life
Which one is best to buy?. 01.Bunnahabhain an cladach islay 02.Glenmorangie 10 03.Glenfiddich perpetual vat 01
That's a tough one, All three whiskies are from different regions so processors are different too. Although all three feature similar notes on their profiles. Personally I would go Glenfiddich Vat 01 because I love Speyside Whiskies, followed by the Bunnahabhain in second place
I like that the head to head is being done semi blind. I would like to see something go up against Three Ships 10Yo, but I'm not sure that it would work because it may be too distinctive. And seeing as there's no equivalent from SA to go against it, what would be a good Scotch to match it up against? Perhaps Talisker 10yo? Maybe the matchups should stay between whiskies from the same region and of the same style rather?
Its quite strange how the flavours change when your eyes are closed. I am trying to keep the regions the same as an Islay vs Speyside just wouldn't work in my opinion. We could try a three ships 10 vs a Bains 10 ??? Same distillery
@@whiskymad I can imagine! I have to do more blind tasting myself. Yes those are the same distillery but so different from each other. Your comparison in this video was good and worked well. Maybe next time two Highlands against each other, like Glenmorangie vs Tomatin.
@@willemkilian9563 i Will give it a try
