    People are so hypocritical. It has died down alot but I just cant believe the negativity had gotten this big. I saw the trailer and didnt have anything negative to say. I just accepted the new art style because its different in every game.

      There are some times I fully understand the negativity towards a game. There are a lot of call outs about Bioware that I agree with, but I had to call cap on some of this because I just didn't see it. Some people have been more reasonable with what their concerns are from some of the interactions I've had in the comments, so I understand more. It's just not make or break for me. Glad to hear it's died down a lot. I do expect another hate wave once the game comes out with clickbait vids saying "It's worse than we thought!", "Bioware is DEAD" or something similar lol

    People aren't disgusted with the trailer because it looks "different" from past trailers or the current gameplay. We're disgusted with it because it looks too cheerful and colorful and cartoony. The music choice was also bad. The old trailers, while they didn't look like the games, still looked dark and gritty and were inspiring. They hyped people up to play the games. Also each character introduction seemed Pixar-esque. Snarky comments get mixed reactions from fans. I would say that half the fanbase simply doesn't want too many snarky comments, and also no cringey snark. I know there are plenty of fans who play "purple Hawke". I'm one of the fans who sees this as wrong. "Purple Hawke" is just a clown. I think the default Hawke, the type of person Hawke is supposed to be, is diplomatic Hawke, and the sarcastic and aggressive choices are only there to mark emotional shifts in mood or tone depending on the situation. I think this is proven by the fact that Hawke's questioning dialogue is always diplomatic or serious in their delivery. So for the dialogue wheel, I would say don't have these emotions unless choosing them actually changes how your protagonist asks the questions or phrases their comments. I think Inquisition did the dialogue wheel better than DA2, but Origins is still the best. Veilguard should have combined the best aspects of both, but in the demo, it looks like it has become even more simplified, and actually worse than DA2. Not only does Rook speak for the player several times without even giving us the option to choose a response, but when we do get a choice, two options look similar, while the other is just a neutral tone. There are also no options as to how we stop Solas. Everything is just scripted and on rails. There are problems like this all throughout the demo. I don't think readers had a problem with Alistair being king in the comics. I think people were just worried that BioWare was overriding their worldstates or disregarding them.

      @areolsadventures 17 днів тому

      Personally, I don't see Dragon Age as anymore dark & gritty than the real world. There's been darker stuff in my family history than DA and the problems in DA are 10x easier to solve than anything in the real world. It's just not possible for me to see this as a dark & gritty universe. At least not as much as others seem to. If they did make the game more dark and gritty with a more solemn trailer, then you'd just have the other side of the fanbase upset it didn't have more levity. Bioware can't please everyone and trying to do that will just make the games worse. I honestly don't care which route they go as long as it's the game they wanted to make and the story they wanted to tell. DA2 & Inquisition both had the main character speaking without you getting a dialog prompt first. It's one of the reasons they added a voiced protagonist. I still prefer having an unvoiced character, but I understand why they changed it. In the gameplay demo, they mostly picked the stoic or direct dialog options for Rook. I don't think I can properly comment on it until I've had a few hours with the game. It makes sense for Rook not to have the option of choosing how to deal with Solas because both Varric & Harding are more experienced with the situation and know him better. They basically showed the tutorial area of the game which is usually very on rails, even in the other DA games and the Mass Effect series. The game could open up more after the sequence. There were also parts that were cut out that we won't see until the full game is out. I can see that concern, but it doesn't make sense to me as the story is never really ours. Control will always be in Bioware's hands just due to the nature of video games. The events in the comics do still happen regardless if Alistair is king as I pointed out in my video about him. They just had to pick a canon world in order to make other media about it to add more context to what happens between games. Oh man, sorry this was so long! I just really like discussing games.

      @@areolsadventures I'm not going to question the darkness in your personal life, but I think it's plain to see that Origins, DA2, and even Inquisition are darker and grittier than what was shown in the Veilguard trailer. I really don't think we'd hear the Marvel-lovers complaining at all, since they seem to be the ones who blindly praise anything BioWare gives them. Besides there wasn't any real levity in any of the previous trailers. Morrigan's comment about freezing to death while digging for the bones of a mad woman was more of a cynical complaint than sarcastic snark. BioWare can't please everyone, nor should they try. But they should try to please as many fans as possible, and I think that means sticking to the greatness of Origins and the good elements of Inquisition. I can't agree with that. They have been hired to work on Dragon Age, but it isn't their franchise. It's ours. They should make a story that is intriguing and entertaining for the fans. The story they want to tell might be garbage, and if so, they should not be allowed to tell it. They should be fired and replaced. I don't think fans should want whatever BioWare feels like churning out either. We need to demand greatness from BioWare if they want our money. DA2 and DA:I had certain cases where the protag would speak automatically in a back-and-forth dialogue, but it was always after a prompt. The only case I can think of without any prompt at all was maybe during running around as if in party banter. For example, Hawke leaving the Chantry after Seamus was killed, or the Herald answering Varric that he didn't remember what happened at the temple on their way to the Breach. That's very different from Rook telling Varric they have to help the woman targeted by the spotlight, or Rook telling Harding he doesn't know where Dumat Plaza is. A fair point. The dialogue wheel might have more options in later parts of the game, but a gameplay demo should probably show us more complex dialogue options, not the more basic ones. Something I don't like is how Rook can't call Neve out on letting herself get captured, knowing how important it was they find Solas quickly. I don't know if the rest of the game is going to be like that, but sure would have been nice if the demo had showed something like this. Uh, you're forgetting two things here. 1. The whole point of Rook is that he's someone Solas doesn't know. Someone he'd never see coming. 2. Rook DOES deal with Solas, just that it's scripted. WE don't get to decide how Rook deals with Solas. The player should decide how Rook handles Solas. I agree that there were parts cut out. Neve refers to "Our Lady of Victory". That's probably an entire segment in itself. Running through Arlathan Forest is likely another area. The early trailer had Varric literally saying "THIS is YOUR story". So yeah, it is our story. Comic readers were concerned BioWare was overwriting our stories. Yes, they had to pick a canon, and they went with him as king. I think BioWare needed to make it clear that it followed their worldstate though. I do question how the comics still happen if Alistair is a drunk though. Isabela seemed to only help him because she thought she could get paid well by the King of Ferelden. And obviously a dead Alistair can't do any of what's in the comics. No problem. I like discussing Dragon Age too, and I've been known to make some long posts myself.

      @@BelieveIt1051 See, my main point about the Veilguard trailer and comparing it to the old ones is how much those trailers (and most video game trailers in general) don't properly represent the games they're about. They hardly ever do. Being upset about a cinematic trailer seems a waste of energy. To me, it was just some entertaining visuals to show off the new companions and that's it. When it comes to the actual gameplay trailer, it lines up with the usual tone of the series. Even if it didn't show more than the more bare bones parts of the tutorial. A lot of people were talking like there was zero humor in the Dragon Age games. It does also have some goofy jokes and references in it, not just dark humor, like Isabella saying "I like big boats, I cannot lie." in Dragon Age 2 or even the little jabs they take at the fanbase for "complaining" about changes to the game by adding in some silly dialog about it. I look at video game design from the viewpoint of an artist. If I decided to draw in a different style because it felt more fitting for me and was more enjoyable, then people stated they didn't like the new style, I'm not gonna change back. They can consume the art or not, but if I'm forced to do something I have no interest in doing, the end result will be worse and not satisfying for anyone. I'd rather people make something they enjoy, other people that enjoy it will consume it and the people that don't can just move on. Like I said in the video, it's okay to not like the changes and not play the new games or move on to a different series, but we're not in a place to demand anything from them. A lot of people at Bioware have already left. David Gaider recently helped write a musical visual novel. People change and get bored of the same thing over and over again. A few hundred hours of our time playing a game is nothing compared to the years spent making them. Rook's dialog to help the woman could be due to the personality trait made from previous choices or it could even be because the one they played as was part of the Shadow Dragon faction which helps escaped slaves and tends to fight for people like her. Choosing an Antivan Crow background might make the dialog go differently or whatever choices you make before that point. There's just too much we don't know right now, too many unknown variables for me to form an opinion on it. It would've been interesting to see how the storyline would pan out with the other ways Alistair can end up. I understand the worry of Bioware overriding the world states people made as they did retcon Leliana's death for some people, but I believe they stated a long time ago they tended to lean towards the more popular choices when determining which ones to carry over in the next games. That's also another reason I think they need a total reset with a new age, it's not viable to keep so many varying choices and try to have them be meaningful. I also don't believe in blindly buying something just because it was made by a company (or person) you like or has made things you've enjoyed in the past. I'm buying the game day one because I wanna see how the story goes, not out of any loyalty to Bioware.

      @@areolsadventures Yes, and I understand your point. They don't properly represent the games. My point is they hyped the games up by looking dark, gritty, and intriguing. Veilguard looked like an advertisement for a Pixar movie. It repulsed fans. It didn't hype us up. It's not a waste of energy because the trailer needed to give a good impression. All it did was turn people away, and it gave us a look at what kind of people BioWare has working on this now. They showed poor judgement in approving that trailer. Yeah, DA2 dialed up the jokes, and DA2 is considered the worst in the trilogy. I don't think the trailer was disliked for the idea of jokes, it was disliked for not being serious. It came off as comical overall. If you want to be your own artist, that's fine. Game design is about delivering on a product people want though. If the audience doesn't like it, then the developers have failed at their jobs and should be fired. Fans shouldn't be told to move on. Fans should get more of what they want. The devs should move on. Dragon Age is for the fans, not the employees who are hired to develop the franchise. It's not okay to not like the games or not play them. That's a bad thing. That results in the franchise being cancelled. The customers are the ones with all the power. We can demand whatever we want, and we should demand quality content. This isn't about Veilguard being different, it's about it being crap. Could be, maybe, possibly. That's all speculation. All we know is what the demo showed. And it showed NO OPTION for the player to choose what to do. It showed Rook speaking for the player, and it showed Varric overruling him. Is the game more accommodating to player choice? I hope so. But according to the demo it's crap. Then they need to tie all current plots up and give us a grand finale. The time skips just end the plots without any closure. I understand wanting to see how the story goes. I on the other hand am not confident that they are taking the story in a good direction. So I think I will wait and see how the reviews are first. At worse I'll just watch a UA-cam series on it to get any lore or story info.

    I dont think you get the trailer comparison, DAO trailer actually comes close what the game does offer , same with da2 with hawke fighting arishok. The problem with DAV is that the tone and inspiration comes from a place were dragon age themes are not found on. DAV fits more to MCU and Guardians of galaxy than a dragon age !!. saying DAO is also looks like a hero shooter is kind of misguided attempt to save DAV ass is overkill.

    • @areolsadventures

      If I bought DA:O or DA2 based only on the cinematic trailers, I'd be very disappointed in the games I ended up playing. The characters don't even look the same from the Sacred Ashes trailer. The original lead writer for Dragon Age stated he took inspiration from Joss Whedon's writing style. He's also the writer behind some of the most popular companions from the series; Alistair, Morrigan, and Dorian. Those "MCU" elements and inspirations have always been in the series. There's multiple lines in the Human Noble origin with those kinds of jokes. It's not as overt as it is in Marvel movies, but it is there.

      @@areolsadventures david gaider inspired from the works joss whedon such as buffy the vampire slayer the tv show. the entire dragon age is inspired from Game of thrones and lord of the rings and other stuffs as well. When you are strictly comparing Trailer which stays near to the material from DAO to DAI there is no way you get a Hero shooter vibe or any other genre since the tone remains the same. DAO sacred ashes trailer never indicated its a hero shooter to say it does miss the points completely. no one buys the game based on trailer completely the gameplay also factors in. The DAV got this much of back lash because the marketing team behind mistook the clue what dragon age was and tone and colors for the game does not match Red and grim Which is dragon age known for. Also companions introduction did not match the aesthetics of DA, also character models was not that good.

    • @areolsadventures
      @areolsadventures 20 днів тому

      @@BlazingTiger5000 I think we actually agree, just to different degrees? My main point of showing the trailers was to illustrate how they've never truly represented the games themselves. I believe they were all done by a 3rd party. The framing of all the characters using abilities and doing over the top stuff is a very hero shooter thing to do. Only thing missing is the name cards going across the screen. Meanwhile, the actual gameplay was slower and more tactical based. DA:O & DA2 came out during the time people thought making your game with mostly brown and other muted colors made it more realistic, so it's nice to see them add more color to the games from Inquisition onwards. I think the character models are fine, especially after seeing them in the gameplay video. They just lean towards Matt Rhodes' artstyle more, which is why I pointed it out. I saw multiple people stating that quippy dialog was not part of Dragon Age, which is just false. Why I bring up that Joss Whedon's writing style has always been more on the quippy side, Buffy is a good example of that. There are also multiple bits of dialog throughout the series that echo this. Which doesn't mean the game is not dark or grim in any way, it is. Just not all the time as people seem to think. When I think "Dragon Age" or Bioware in general, grim fantasy world is not the first thing that comes to mind, it's the companions. They clearly want to lean into this more in Veilguard.

      Honestly, greed has been an issue literally forever. Being part of EA does cause Bioware issues as they had to fight to keep multiplayer out of their game. Most corpos don't even understand why people buy certain genres of games, they just see that one made money and had a certain feature/mechanic and wrongly think adding that to ANY game will make it profitable

  • @marcomongke3116
    @marcomongke3116 23 дні тому

    To me, Bioware has been lacking that sexy female companion stereotype in their latter games, like Morrigan, Leliana, Isabella, etc. For example, Dragon Age Inquisition, Masseffect Andromeda, and Anthem. Having just 1 such character would have gone a long way.

    • @areolsadventures
      @areolsadventures 22 дні тому

      My problem with those characters is they always tend to make them arrogant or overly rude, so I don't really want them around in my squad. They also tend to force that character on you if you play a male avatar which is super annoying. I also don't find anyone physically attractive, though. So could very much be a me thing as to why I don't see the appeal.

    • @marcomongke3116
      @marcomongke3116 22 дні тому

      @areolsadventures " different strokes for different folks." I do find such female characters attractive as game offers escapism. So i conclude that Bioware has become less inclusive towards some of their old fans with such decisions. However, I am still willing to game a chance for the overall story and hoping for some kind of miracle. Just very cautiously curious.

      @@marcomongke3116 I do agree that Bioware has changed a lot since the days of DA: O and even Baldur's Gate and that has ostracized a lot of fans. However, I do think it opens up more room for another company to take on those elements Bioware used to have without being stuck in their shadow. I'll never fault someone for being cautious when it comes to any kind of change. If this game doesn't deliver what you want, I hope you can find one that does and maybe even better than what Bioware did.
