Hi Matt, enjoyed the video, the first cover you showed was Gordon Scott who played him in 6 films from 1955 to 1960. Ron Ely was the tv tarzan 1966 to 1968.
Awesome. I didn't go that far as it ould make the video too long. I was strictly covering the comcs.
This was a fun change of pace. I watched the old B&W movies every weekend as a kid, but didn't read the comics. You should do a "deep dive" like this on other characters as well in the future; very entertaining.
I have several hardcover books of Tarzan dating to 1918 and comics both Dell, gold key, great reads, art is better than some big little books, better little books and it's time to re-read them, collect them and mostly talk about them. Great intro video to the history of Tarzan. Look forward to more
I have a Blue book magazine 1928 TARZAN, thought it was an Victorian era comic. We learn.
I used to love Tarzan movies as a kid but never ventured into any of his comic book tales really, for me comics was about super powers beyond the normal. I am sure that I'd enjoy his adventures in comic form but I doubt I'll ever get any of them, though you never know, maybe I'll find a cheap lot sometime.
If..if you can find it...that Lois Lane comic book ,"...I am curious(black)" is very popular a bit expensive. However, it is partially bleeplisted by certain politically correct groups for obvious reasons. Not that I have a problem. I am interested in the story. If you know anything about DC history, unlike Marvel, at that time they sometimes appeared as misogynstic or lacking discernment. It was okay back then. But nowadays? Certain groups would have a cow. Give them a lollypop instead, with "herbs".
Good vid but to be honestly, I'd have a different title so that viewers can understand what the vid will be about, I almost didn't click on it with the clickbait title.
It was an attempt to write out what Donald Duck says. I hope you did enjoy it.
What is going on in Canada ? Postal system and the healthcare system don’t work properly. Anyway nice rabbit hole Twinkletoes 😊
Thanks for having me matt
@@biggieshaq I enjoyed it. Thank you
Sorry I missed this, I was stuck in traffic
The recent Action run, certainly since #1067, has been great, lots of silver and bronze age vibes! I'm trying to re-read my older Action and Supes, and you are right that scenario, does turn up a lot, in the silver age especially. I mean every lead character in the Superman family has been to Krypton at least a half dozen times each, lol!
Cheers for the shout out mate, those books look like fun and you have to respect the history of the company. The new title name is cool in it's own right. I did see another channel review these and say that they were not as cool as the originals that they are paying homage to.
Thanks for the shout out Matt much appreciated 😀😀
Those are some neat covers.
Detective 526
Matt it's onipress, sorry to correct you! I did buy the first Cruel Universe and the Epitaphs, like you thought the stories were a bit iffy. May get the trade for Cruel as it's only 5 issues! As you say they improve! Epitaphs is 12 issues, so probably be split in two trades. Shiver is a one shot, so I've ordered that! Cruel Kingdom may get the trade as that's 5 issues. Will be interesting to see if they bring out other volumes!
I have the Cruel Universe issues; may do another video. And never be sorry to correct me, I encourage it as I want people to get the correct info and not always rely on my imperfect memory.
@@Matt_Likes_Comics Yes, I liked how you pronounced epitaphs perfectly fine the first time, then forgot you did! I have the same problem with several artists and writers, so I know how you feel!
Thank you for the shout out Matt, much appreciated! Greyman and Mark are great guy's!
I love the epitaphs comics, I bought a few
Awsome books and I love your explanations. Very poignant and enjoyable. Thank you!!
From the Marvel world - Medusa of the INhumans. Hellcat, patsy walker has red hair. A girl named Frankie Raye, ex girlfriend of the Human Torch and one time herald of Galactus, had red hair. Spiderman's girlfriend has red hair, Mary Jane. I think.
Jean Grey, and girlfriend of Barry the Flash in comic books.
Redheads are very important in society and civilization. They have great genes and are not common, but are not very common in blood types in the world. Celtic people and isles have more redheads than anywhere. Redheads and redhead women tend to be the most beautiful women in world and men redheads tend to be very intelligent and courageous warriors.
Super
Awesome Thanks!!!! Every time I watch your top 10 I see a book I want.
Speaking of well-known redheads in comics: How about MARGARET WADE, in the world of Dennis-the-Menace.
Good choice; unfortunately, I have no Dennis books.
Great books! I think the one you were thinking of, but couldn't may be Black Widow? I had a cover with her and Tigra on it I was going to show in my video. I was also going to show a Mera cover, but had 12 already. You seem pretty knowledgeable about your characters. Well done!
It was Black Widow, I just blanked.
Awesome covers
Enjoyed your show very much. I especially liked Archie 3000 and one where they were in a horse drawn sleigh with a black background. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I did three shows on my Christmas books because I collected them all year long. I hope your postal strikes End soon.
@@stevedriskell59 Me too
I agree with Hagan, about captain america. He was trying uphold good american values. I like that.
how much should i pay for some old adventures comics? I love The Legion
Most of the books after 350 are 7 to 20 dollars depending on condition. Before that, about half the issues are major or minor keys so the prices vary
Personally, I prefer the Sabrina books from Archie Comics as well. She's my favourite 'Archie' character. I really liked the original TV series. I still need to finish watching the Netflix series.
@@Bel_Izeard The ending is quite interesting and surprising
So neat that people collect Archie. Never bought one myself, but I am always happy when people support non-superhero comics. Enjoyed the show! I sent all my All Star Superman 12 issues to Nate for free. I loved them, so hope he enjoys them as well. Great story!
That Archie always got more action than I ever did!! I have very few Archies, didn't see them here much I think. I got a few Marvel and DC Christmas comics, I made a 12 days of Christmas series of my fave stories a while back. No need to shy away from saying Merry Christmas mate, Marry Christmas back at ya, even if it is early
I've got a bunch of B and Vs from the 60s. Archie books were really wild in that decade, especially since the cast are supposed to be high school students!
The only "Archie" books I collect are Sonic the Hedgehog. The crossover with Betty/Veronica with Vampirella/Red Sonja is a book I would like to pick up. Don't feel bad Matt, I don't have a single Christmas cover in my collection.
All Star Superman is definitely a series worth getting! But jumping down the Archie rabbit hole, are there not many thousands of them?
I'm watching on the rewind.
Cool intro! Great guest.
I found your page by chance and now i'm subscribed to you !
@@Robert_Presto Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it
They are not "the best of friends." Sure, there are some comics where they seem to be, even overtly so, but I have read way more comics where their relationship is incredibly strained to say the least. Heck, I remember my cousin once reading a comic I had out and saying, "I didn't know Batman and Superman hate each other" (it was an old pre-Crisis Justice League comic). Remember, Batman has Kryptonite to kill Superman if he feels he is getting out of line.
I have just recorded a part 2...this point is made in it I believe. For the books I have shown in this chapter, they are "best buds"
Excellent! Thanks Matt! 1st red Sonja and full length story for supergirl are books that I’d like to pick up .
Invaders were a cool team.
Great comics, Matt!! I appreciate that I was a teen in the 70s, buying so many of those great books off the rack!! Of course, there is a part of 63-year-old-me that wishes I'd been born 10 to 15 years earlier to have been able to buy all the glorious silver age books off the racks!!
More great comics to like there Matt
wow..WHAT...what a great collection you are sharing with us. So, like me, You are a DC fan, eh? good.
Yep, love that Superman
Really nice Matt; all those are super enjoyable books (at least the ones I have read). 😁 I actually always liked the DC Comic Presents #26 more for the SM & GL team up than the first Teen Titans app. when I was a kid. LOL
That's cool I found the GL story a bit boring
@@Matt_Likes_Comics That is true, I just really liked GL as a kid! 😉
Conan #23 first app. for sure. People are just willing to pay more for the next one with her on the cover LOL
Might have to get my hands on a copy of Secret Origins #17.
Superman, MOS 17 for me. Went to a massive $1. Book sale back in 2012 and bought a full short box of 17 & 18 including many of the later printings.
Agree with Conan 23 and 24. Fun thing for me is get them both with cameos and first full and then it doesn’t matter. Any character.
Mongul 1st app. Has been like a yo yo over the decades. Second level villain that may jump but will drop again just as quickly.
