Whenever we exhibit at a Trade Show or participate in a ProAV event, guests ask about the switches we use. The answer is easy. Netgear! Specifically, we use the Netgear M4250 ProAV PoE 10 port (M425010G2XF) GSM4212UX. That's it! These are the switches we use in our offices and on the road.

Tim, your products are amazing, and I am impressed with your knowledge on the products and model numbers. PresenterTek was happy to be present in your booth, literally supporting the CueScript PTZ prompting hood above our 2-axis TV pedestal, operated by your controllers! I'd say it was definitely a team effort at IBC 2024.
What's the price tag on this camera?

Interesting. How does that compare to NDH HX3?
Compared to NDI HX3, FAST HEVC is an open standard, has deeper color space (4:2:2 12-bit), lower latency (~2 frames), and much lower bandwidth (at or below 50Mbps for 4:2:2 4K60. HX3 does ~50Mbps at 1080p). However, NDI HX3 video looks great, supports HDR and 10+-bit color, and is NDI!

Interesting the problem with the older BirdDog cams was the Bolin cameras that they were based on. Putting a Magewell encoder on a garbage camera isn't going to help things. Grainy image that looks worse than a webcam is totally unacceptable. Hard pass. 😮

We use RS-422 and RS-232 serial over IP.

if you want more than one camera how do i set up dante studio ?? how many camera can run by on netgear switch? great tutorial, but a little to basic. is a big setup in pipe ?
Thank you for watching and taking the time to reply. Currently, Dante Studio only supports one video flow. I am told there are plans to support more in the future. One way to support multiple cameras would be to use the new public API in Dante Domain Manager which supports third-party control. Think Crestron and StreamDeck with Bitfocus Companion. It's extra hardware, but it does work. The other is to switch the cameras with a dedicated video switcher, encode that output and send it to Dante Studio.

If you want to use vMix as a video switcher Dante Studio currently only supports one Dante video stream unless you use a separate physical video switcher? Kind of defeats the purpose. Can Studio receive a video stream while sending one or more video streams (such as from the desktop and a VLC video window) concurrently?
@@Son37Lumiere Dante Studio currently supports only one video flow per computer. That could be an incoming or outgoing flow. Audinate is constantly working on the software, including adding multiple flows. I do not know if two flows on a single PC can be one incoming and one outgoing. I will find out.

Thank you for your comment. We agree! Right now, our UA-cam channel is focusing on education and best practices to help those considering Dante AV. There are some exciting Dante AV projects nearing completion which will show the technology in action. $2000+ for one unit
I hope those DANTE AV products will be soon more available, cheaper a bit and mailny usable within software-based video switchers like vMix and I would like to migrate from NDI to DANTE AV as we already use DANTE for audio. :) I hope there will be DANTE AV bi-directional converter like is BLACKMAGIC DESIGN ATEM CAMERA CONVERTER. Line level audio inputs, SDI IN & OUT, HDMI IN & OUT, button for switching video from camera (loop) & video from switcher (return feed), tally LED + tally connector), ethernet with PoE capability, SFP connector for fiber & high quality headphone output and microphone input for intercom or any audio feed. :) That would be ultimate setup for live streaming. This is something that NDI doesn't have and every vendor has issue with bi-directional converters...

Is the HDMI cable on the camera actually necessary or was just connected so that we could see the output of it in the inset of the vid?
Hello! We included the HDMI cable to show the camera's local feed, but it is not necessary. You can still pull the camera feed from the decoder box :) Hope that helped!

I agree! The ability to connect musicians in different facilities currently exists, especially if they are within the same Domain. If you are referring to what was demonstrated in the Blue Note Project, we aren't quite at the "simple" stage. One will always deal with latency, even at the speed of light, but that project was a stunning proof of concept.
