    This was so timely! My "students" forgot to buy me a planner for teacher's appreciation week...lol! I am using the planner you did a flip through on IG. It worked but I still needed my 5 STAR spiral notebook for brain dumps and loose papers. I like the Schoolnest planners but just wish they had pockets. One suggestion I took from Sabrina @thesimplehappylife was to use one section of the planner as daily (journal) notes. Like my kids behavior, what made me smile, or simple prayers. It helped so when Fornite Friday came around and we forgot that on Tuesday I said no games. I could easily look back and see what happen...haha!

    Long response. Sorry! 🥴 "Mom are you still getting dressed?" 😂 I love it. I take forever to get dressed too! Something that I've been doing is while my 3 youngest are napping and my older 2 are having quite time, I started taking a bubble bath. I used to use that time to work on math and reading, and do house work (and we still do) but once or twice a week, that's my time. I get 2-3 hours to bathe, do my nails, read, ect. The house work is always going to be there.🤷🏾‍♀️ I had a hypertension episode early fall and I just can't live like that. I don't want to be a source of trama for my kiddos nor do I like being a "sick" mom. My hypertension is stress induced so finding time to relax was a must. I take P5P for energy. It's better than a cup of coffee. 😅 Plus I had to stop drinking coffee because it raises my blood pressure. You are doing a great job with your boys and I can tell they love you a lot! Try making a meal plan for the month. So that next year so you have to do is pull out last year's meal plan and repeat. 😅 Something else that I do is a double what I cook. That way we can have left overs. I cook every other day to give me a break with dinner. My kiddos make their own lunch and breakfast one day out of the week so I'm only cooking 3 lunch and breakfast 3 days out of the week and my hubby usually takes the weekends. Also, be specific about what you need and make a schedule for the boys. You can totally have them be chef for the day so that they have 3 days out of the week and you have 4...... Or hubby take day of that's his jam. I totally feel you about the wife thing. I don't have it all figured out but my hubby comes first. When he comes home, I stop what I'm doing and greet him with affection/his love language. He comes first over everything. If he comes home for lunch, we're fixing what he wants to eat and taking an extended lunch. 😉😉 I actually love my husband, enjoy spending time with him, and I'm just so thankful he provides for us so that I can be home to homeschool our kiddos. I'm gonna make time for him. You got this. I'm looking forward to an update on how your juggling it all. It's something we don't talk about in the homeschool community. You've inspired me to make a video about it myself. 🤗

      Thanks for the response! I love how you are handling it all. I do need to monthly meal plan and double things. My iron deficiency was definitely effecting me more than I thought. The food is definitely me wanting to control it all and not letting them help when they can most definitely help. Everything you said is so on point.

    So I felt like this was a “get to know Frances” video and I loved it ❤! We are both in the ponytail gang okay, but I do treat myself every other month to a different hairstyle. My biggest fail that God is helping me fix is letting my five kids dictate our day. We are aggressively getting back into routines and schedules. Shh! I hide in my room and pretend to get dress as well! I also “leave” my pocketbook in the car so I can get a break 😂.

    When I hit my 40s, my health really went kind of nuts. I started becoming deficient in B12, which hits your energy HARD! I take B12 supplements that help tremendously. We checked my levels with a blood test... my doctor was helpful in getting a full blood panel to figure that stuff out. A lot happens to us in our 40s as women... it's tough!

      Hey, don’t let setbacks cause you more stress. Some of mine are schooling the summer, June especially. July is busy so it won’t be possible which is good because everyone needs mental breaks from everything. Even if you need to lay out the work and let them be responsible to get it done. Do you have little ones? What ages are u teaching? Even if it’s not where you want to be, plan time for yourself because our job is so thankless nobody going to make sure you do it.

    We use CLE for Math and my kids love it so much. I feel like CLE curriculum gets overlooked because it's not "fancy", but I agree with you it is a solid program. I have two questions; I am considering using CLE Reading, Critical Thinking Reading Detectives or Daily Reading Practice by Judy Holbrook which one would you suggest to use for a 8th grader who needs to improve on comprehension? Question two: Is CLE Language Arts overkill with the reading program?

    • @joyfullyhomeschoolingboys
      @joyfullyhomeschoolingboys Місяць тому

      CLE reading and La are different and really don’t overlap except for Bible verse memory. Reading is more comprehension and vocabulary and La is all the grammar and writing and spelling. My 8th used the Reading enjoyed it. For reading comprehension though which I am learning with my one who struggles. Start small and add on and make sure it deals with one component at a time and not all over because then it is hard for you to know where in comprehension he really struggles. I would use reading comprehension workouts from younger grades and make sure it something they need to review. Also, do they like to read because sometimes it is reading confidence. I have not heard of the other to reading programs, but will look at them and give you my opinion.

Also, I don’t want to shelter my kids from the world. I want them to know how to move about as Christians and interact with everyone. And the only way for them to learn is to be around non-Christians from time to time.

      So good and I couldn’t agree more. I have 2 children. I have always homeschooled them and it’s been over 10 years now. I have had my share of groups and you hit the nail on the head. I am also a classical homeschooler as well so I did time on the line with CC as well , 3 cycles before departure. I have had very similar experiences and conversations regarding diversity too 🙅🏾‍♀️ so I started my own little group invitation only 🙋🏾‍♀️ and the other groups we are in I purposely curate for me and my children and they are for melanated families. Sorry not sorry 😂 Even in our curated groups I have to still say no to lots of things because we would never get anything academic done. That’s been my biggest, my time..like I don’t know how folks are always on the move and still get a math lesson completed with understanding 🤣 Every time I am in a new group I always say God seems to give me one or two flowers if I am lucky to add to our village and I am always deeply grateful for dear fiends to be on this journey with because we need each other. One of my so:s just completed 10 months with a homeschool theatre company and God provided three of the sweetest Mamas and we just tied at the hip and I love it. I told them after our last show last night, “ we stuck with each other now, cause we ain’t doing hits again in the fall” 😂🤣

    I think it's a good point to address with our teens that you have to do things you don't want to do. With the said, my kids have never done well with Apologia. If they were going into a heavy science field for a career, I may push it, but so far both are not, so we avoid it like the plague - LOL.
