Thanks for your question! Oil cypionate is a viscous solution, so filtration may be challenging. The recommended product depends on the application. If the intended use is direct patient care, we recommend an FDA-registered sterile hydrophobic syringe filter such as cat. no. SLFG025LS. In a lab setting, we offer research use-only options such as 0.45µm hydrophobic PTFE syringe filters (such as cat. no. SLFH033N) or a syringe filter designed for high particulate filtration (such as cat. no. SLCRM25). Hope this helps!

There are many variables that can contribute to how long cells are viable for in -80˚ C storage, including cell type and the type of cryopreservation medium that the cells are stored in. Generally, cells will not maintain as high a level of viability when stored in -80˚ C vs standard storage in liquid nitrogen. Great question! We don't have a specific protocol for LAL testing of syringe filters. However, there are kits available, such as this - ms.spr.ly/6059cjeht - that can be used. (Please select the correct country and language in the top righthand corner of your screen.) Filter endotoxin-free water through the syringe filter, then test the filtrate to see if it contains endotoxin. The product information sheet has instructions on how to use the kit. Note that this kit is for research-use only. There are other LAL/endotoxin kits as well, a quick online search will give you some options. If your lab needs to comply with a compendial method (e.g. USP, EP), make sure that the kits you are using are compliant with the method described in the monograph. When using a Durapore PVDF membrane, orientation does not affect performance. However, for asymmetric membranes such as the PES Express PLUS® filter, position the dull side facing upward to allow the sample to flow through, while the shiny side faces downward for the filtrate to exit.
