Slingin' an observatory, EC 120B
Переглядів 14 тис.11 років тому
Filmed with a GoPro HD attached to my hemlet. Dome weights around 400kg, wall section close to 300kg. Notice how solid the cargo flies while being slinged.

AS 350 B2 Slingjob on Ericsson Globe Arena. Globen SkyView 2009
Переглядів 6 тис.14 років тому
Mounting the rail-way on the worlds biggest globe-building. Around 80 flights with various parts weighting around 800kg-1050kg Helicopter in use: AS 350B2, stripped the cockpit to gain those extra few kilos of marginals.
Great lift. Love the sound of the EC.
What external load weight is the 120 capable of? 500kg?
Right on the money, very seldom >500kg unless very favorable conditions and low on fuel 25% ish
Awesome. who's more effective the heli or the dog :-)
very interesting & very informative. I just completed my 120B TR. Thanks for sharing, maybe one day I get to learn how to sling cargo in the 120. Stay safe captain.
Congrats, for sure you'll make it in time! What I recommend doing differently: Install dual-controls and do it from the left seat, much easier leaning over your collective instead of away from it, especially if shorter sling is being used.
@@81stAirborn thank you for the tips sir. Always keen to learn. Thanks again
Hello. I am looking at doing this as my dream job to both own and fly. Considering you're in the business of this, what do you think owning an aircraft for sling/external load and ferry ops? Is there work? And are you an owner operator?
Given the the number of operators and weights involved, the EC120B would be too weak for sling-operations, the 350 B3e is the gold standard for those kinds of jobs, as there are plenty of operators out there offering those services. I used to be an owner operator (7 helicopters as most) together with my family, but decided to sell last year.
Awesome pilot, awesome flying, fantastic video. Thank you for posting
81stAirborn What do you think about the 120? Do you like flying it?
Darien Seminoff i think ir is a beautyful helicopter for a nice trip over the land.
I should read the comments more often, so sorry for the late (5 years!!) reply. It's definitely the most versatile helicopter I've worked in, the range of missions are incredibly wide, and the luggage-compartment is 2nd to none in terms of size and accessibility. If one could dream, a 50-100kg weight reduction would make this airframe a 5/5, instead of 4.5/5
@@81stAirborn Its all good man, the life of a commercial pilot. I've often heard that about the machine. If it were lighter and slightly more powerful it would be all that much better. But one could say that about nearly any airframe. I'd sure like one, one of my dream aircraft.
Read your flight manual! illegal door config, cant have that pocket door installed with the pilot door removed.
Fantastic video man !!!
No, just a regular GoPro (pre hd version)
Is this aircraft using the Vision 1000 ?
Wonderful!!! THank you for sharing on the DC-3 Dreams Comm Center also!
Cheers mate
Har man möjlighet att plugga/ta lektioner på heltid så kör man nog certet efter ett år. Sen tar det en livstid och lite till att bli duktig på't
