    One Direction star Liam Payne dead at 31 after a fatal plunge from a 3rd story balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. First responders had rushed to the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires after receiving an emergency call from the manager late Wednesday but there was nothing they could do to save him, according to Buenos Aires emergency services chief, Alberto Crescenti. Police later confirmed they had been called to the hotel after being notified of an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.” The singer’s body has since been sent for an autopsy, officials said.

    John Amos, ‘Good Times’ star, dead at 84, reportedly from natural causes. He was best known for his role in the sitcom 'Good Times.' Amos was born in Newark, NJ on December 27, 1939. He went to East Orange High School and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in sociology. Before acting, Amos was a professional football player. He signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos in 1964 but was released on the second day of training camp after injuring his hamstring. He later briefly played with the Kansas City Chiefs before leaving the NFL for the Continental League. Amos made his acting debut in an episode of “The Bill Cosby Show” in 1970. Later in 1970, he was cast as the weatherman Gordon “Gordy” Howard in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” He appeared in 13 episodes of the sitcom from 1970 to 1977. Amos was only on “Good Times” for the first three seasons. His character was killed off in a car accident. Amos and his son made a documentary about the actor’s life that has yet to come out.

    ‘American Pickers’ star Frank Fritz dead at 60, 2 years after suffering a stroke. His death was announced by his former co-host, Mike Wolfe, on Facebook. Fritz co-hosted “American Pickers” since 2010. The long-running History Channel reality series followed Fritz and Wolfe as they traveled the US searching for rare artifacts and treasures to either sell in antique shops or put in their personal collections. Fritz stopped appearing on the show during Season 21. He was later replaced by Rob Wolfe, Wolfe’s brother. Fritz owned Frank Fritz Finds, an antiques store in Savanna, Illinois. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was inducted into the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame in 2019. Fritz suffered from numerous health issues, including a back injury. In 2022, the Fritz and Wolfe told the media that there was no feud. Rather, after over a decade of filming “Pickers” together, “They needed separation to appreciate each other.” They reportedly patched things up in 2023.

    ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ star John Ashton dead at 76, months after ‘Axel F’ premiere on Netflix. The star died in Colorado after battling cancer. The Springfield, Massachusetts native appeared in over 200 screen and stage productions during his 50-year career, including three out of four installments of “Beverly Hills Cop” beginning in 1984. His latest project as Chief John Taggart, the straight man to Murphy’s wise-cracking Axel Foley, premiered on Netflix earlier this year. Judge Reinhold starred between the two men as the affable Detective Billy Rosewood. Ashton’s other well-known credits include “M*A*S*H,” the 1987 John Hughes comedy-drama “Some Kind of Wonderful,” starring Lea Thompson and Eric Stoltz, and opposite Robert De Niro in the 1988 action-comedy “Midnight Run.” A big sports fan, he later took a break from acting to co-host the “Ashton and Davis Show” on 870 ESPN Radio.

    Kris Kristofferson, country music pioneer dead at 88. The star was surrounded by his family, but no cause of death was given. Just one month before his death, the country music legend put his ranch on Northern California’s Mendocino Coast on the market for $17.2 million. Kristofferson was known for his chart-topping 1972 song “Why Me,” and “Me & Bobby McGee,” a hit recorded by Janis Joplin shortly before her 1970 death. He is also best known for starring in the 1976 remake of “A Star Is Born.” He also played vampire hunter Abraham Whistler in the 1998 horror film “Blade” and the love interest of Ellen Burstyn’s character in the 1974 drama “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore." Kristofferson served in the military, starting his service in 1960. He trained as a helicopter pilot at Fort Rucker in Alabama, per VA News, and later served in West Germany with 8th Infantry Division. The star's music career took a “turning point” in his career in 1969, when Johnny Cash recorded Kristofferson’s song, “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” which won the 1970 Country Music Association’s song of the year trophy. Over the course of his career, Kristofferson received many awards and accolades including; a Johnny Mercer Award in the Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2006, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2004. n 1973, he married singer Rita Coolidge, divorcing in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Meyers, 66, whom he wed in 1983 and eight children.

    Famous rocker, Freddie Salem, former Outlaws guitarist, has died at age 70 from cancer complications as announced by his former bandmates. Salem joined Outlaws in 1977, replacing original guitarist Henry Paul. Freddie first appeared with the Outlaws on the album Playin’ to Win and then remained in the band for the following 4 albums. Salem left the band in 1983 after they were dropped by their record label, Arista Records. He later recorded two albums with the Godz in the 1980s. The Outlaws are still an active band.

    Tito Jackson, a member of the iconic family band The Jackson 5 and the brother of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson has died at age 70 from an apparent heart attack. The Jackson 5 was formed in 1966 after the family’s talent and music careers skyrocketed. The Jackson 5 exploded into the mainstream in 1969 when they signed a seven-year deal with Motown Records and quickly became the label’s number-one act. Michael left the band in 1984 after his album “Thriller” became one of the best-selling albums of all time, winning him eight Grammy Awards as a solo artist. The Jackson 5 hits topped the charts with hits like “ABC,” “I’ll Be There,” and “I Want You Back,” and were all inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Tito went on to have a solo career, releasing two studio albums, “Tito Time” in 2016 and “Under Your Spell” in 2021. Tito had been performing with brothers Jackie and Marlon as The Jacksons and had shows in Scotland, California, and England over the summer of 2024. The brothers were scheduled to appear in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Oct. 25 and in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Nov. 1.

    Chad McQueen, ‘Karate Kid’ star and son of Steve McQueen, dead at 63 after organ failure from a previous injury. McQueen died at his home in Palm Desert, CA. In addition to playing Dutch in both 1984’s “The Karate Kid” and the 1986 sequel, “The Karate Kid II,” McQueen was known for his role in the 1993 movie “Firepower” and 1998’s “Surface to Air.” Like his father, he was passionate about auto racing. In 2006, he nearly died in a car crash while practicing ahead of the Daytona International Speedway’s Rolex 24 race. The accident ended his career as a professional driver. It is unclear if this crash contributed to his health struggles in recent years. Chad is survived by his wife, Jeanie, and two children - daughter Madison and son Chase. He is also survived by “Vampire Diaries” actor Steven R. McQueen, 36, Chad’s son from his first marriage to Stacey Toten.

    Iconic actor James Earle Jones has died at 93. Jones was best known for playing Luke Skywalker in the 'Star Wars movies. Jones passed away at his New York home today. No cause was immediately announced. Jones first voiced the role of Darth Vader in 1977’s “Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.” He would continue to be Vader’s voice for the next 50 years. In addition to voicing Darth Vader in 'Star Wars', Jones's also voiced characters such as; Mufasa in 1994’s Disney-animated smash hit “The Lion King,” the Voice Box at Hardware Store in 2005’s “Robots” and The Giant in the 2009 movie version of the “Jack and the Beanstalk” fairytale. He also appeared in films such as “The Sandlot,” “Field of Dreams,” “Warning Shot,” and “Coming to America.”

    James Darren, ‘Gidget’ and ‘T.J. Hooker’ star, dead at 88. Darren’s son, “Inside Edition” correspondent Jim Moret, told reported that his father was set to undergo an aortic valve replacement surgery, but doctors said he was too weak to have it. The actor died peacefully in his sleep at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. In the 1950s, Darren got his first big break after landing the role of Moondoggie, a surfer boy in the hit 1959 film “Gidget.” In the 1980s, Darren secured the role of Officer Jim Corrigan on the television cop show “T.J. Hooker”, which became one of the most successful roles of his career. Over the course of his career, Darren’s onscreen success led him to have a recording contract like many actors back in the day. He went on to release two smash singles, “Goodbye Cruel World” and “Her Royal Majesty,” which both reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Darren became a series regular for four seasons of the William Shatner-starred “T.J. Hooker” in the 1980s. Darren also appeared in several episodes of “Star Trek, Deep Space Nine.” Darren grew up in South Philadelphia. He married his first wife, Gloria, in 1955. The pair's one son, Moret, went on to become a CNN anchorman.

    Netflix ‘Elite’ actor Julian Ortega dead at 41. Ortega went into cardiac arrest on Zahora Beach in Barbate, Spain, on Sunday as reported by various news outlets. The actor is best known for his role in the Netflix series “Elite." He was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics tried reviving him for over 30 minutes. According to his IMDb page, he just completed work on the upcoming film “Trompeta” before his death. Ortega’s mother, Gloria Munoz, is also an actor.

    ‘Dawson’s Creek’ actor Obi Ndefo dead at 51, as announced by his sister. No cause of death was announced. He made his acting debut in a 1995 episode of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Over the next 25 years, he had rolls in numerous shows including “The Jamie Foxx Show,” “Angel,” “Columbo,” “Crossing Jordan,” “NYPD Blue,” “The West Wing,” and “Stargate SG-1.” Obi was best known for playing Bodie Wells in “Dawson’s Creek” from 1998 to 2002. Four years before his death, Obi lost both his legs after being hit by a car while coming out of a supermarket in downtown Los Angeles. He was loading his car when an SUV hit him and severed his right leg. He had to get his left leg amputated when he was brought to the hospital, according to the LA Times.

    Talk show legend Phil Donahue dies at 88 after a long illness. The family’s statement requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Phil Donahue/Notre Dame Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers. Three months before his death, Donahue was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Joe Biden. Donahue grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and began his career in TV and radio in the 1950s. “The Phil Donahue Show” premiered in 1967 in Dayton, Ohio. The show then moved to New York City in 1985. His show ended in September 1996 after 29 years. Donahue won 20 Emmy Awards, 10 for outstanding host and 10 for the talk show itself. In 2002, Donahue returned to TV to host an MSNBC talk show, “Donahue.” The show was canceled in 2003. Donahue was first married to Margaret Cooney from 1958 to 1975. They had five children together: Michael, Kevin, Daniel, Mary Rose and James. In 1980, Donahue married Marlo Thomas, who is best know for starring in the 1960s sitcom “That Girl.” She also played Jennifer Aniston’s mom, Sandra Green, in “Friends.”

    'Jeopardy’ singer Greg Kihn dead at 75 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The location of his death was kept private by his family. Kihn was best known for his catchy hit “Jeopardy,” The singer’s first hit, “The Breakup Song,” reached No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1981. Kihn grew up in Baltimore and, as a high school student, won a talent contest sponsored by a local radio station. He moved to San Francisco in 1972 and signed with Beserkley a year later, though his first album, “Greg Kihn,” was not released until 1976. In addition to his music, the singer also published six novels, starting with his first book, “Horror Show” in 1996.

    ‘Hollywood Squares’ host and Broadway star Peter Marshall dead at 98. Peter died Thursday of kidney failure at his home in Los Angeles, CA. His real name was Ralph Pierre LaCock. Peter Marshall was only his stage name. Marshall was the host of the 'Hollywood Squares" for 16 years. Marshall was a singer first before becoming a host. He is survived by four kids including his son Pete LaCock, a professional baseball player for the Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals. Marshall is also survived by daughters Suzanne and Jaime, son David, 12 grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

    WWE legend Kevin Sullivan has died at 74 after a ‘devastating accident’. The WWE did not reveal a cause of death or further details. Recently, a GoFund Me page was set up to “help him through this difficult time.” On May 12th, 2024, while in Florida for autograph signings, Kevin suffered a devastating accident as stated in the description on the GoFund Me page. It also read. “He underwent emergency surgery that saved his leg and life but faced severe complications, including sepsis and encephalitis." Triple H, chief content officer for WWE, praised Sullivan for his creativity and passion.

    Patti Yasutake, the actress best known for her roles in Netflix’s “Beef” and “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” has died at age 70 after a long battle with cancer. The actress was best known for her role as Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in the hit 1987 film “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Her first notable role was an appearance in the police drama “T. J. Hooker,” which starred William Shatner. Yasutake also made guest appearances on shows like “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Closer,” “Bones, and “Cold Case.” She is survived by siblings Linda Hayashi and Steve Yasutake.

    Clint Eastwood’s longtime partner, Christina Sandera, has died at 61. Eastwood who is now 94, has been with Christina since 2014. Prior to their romance, Eastwood was married to journalist Dina Ruiz from 1996 to 2014. Eastwood's first marriage was to model Maggie Johnson in 1953 and calling it quits 11 years later.

    Legendary comedian Bob Newhart dead at 94 after a series of short illnesses as reported by his publicist. He was best known for his hit TV series “The Bob Newhart Show” and “Newhart” in the 1970s and ’80s. Newhart began his career as a stand up comedian in the 1950s, after a stint in the army. He served from 1952 to 1954. His career took off when his comedy routine “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart,” won a Grammy Award as Album of the Year at the 1961 Grammys. His Variety show, “The Bob Newhart Show,” premiered in 1961. Although it earned Emmy and Peabody awards, it got canceled after one season. The “Bob Newhart Show” was a sitcom following a Chicago psychologist who lived with teacher wife Suzanne Pleshette and had kooky patients and neighbors, ran from 1972 to 1978. His next show was called “Newhart,” and it was also a hit, lasting for eight seasons on CBS. He played a New York writer who reopens a closed Vermont inn, surrounded by oddball locals. Some of his film roles included “In and Out,” “Legally Blonde 2,” “Elf” and “Horrible Bosses,” and on the small screen more recently, he was in “The Librarians,” “ER” (for which he got an Emmy nomination), “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon.” Newhart had 10 Emmy nominations, and only 1 win for “The Big Bang Theory.” Newhart was also good friends with fellow comedian Don Rickles. Newhart is survived by his four children and 10 grandchildren. His wife, Virginia Quinn, died in 2023.
