    Have to be lost, in order to be found. It’s that identity is an illusion, but a necessary one to maintain and navigate both ourselves and our complex social system. The real kicker is you were there all along, just… watching yourself construct a new self, for sake of loving yourself. You may not know your destination, but you’re already on the path. This was an enjoyable watch I feel a lot of our age group can relate to personally. Our system is numbing.

    This resonates. Thank you. I'm turning 23 soon and struggling to get a grasp on doing the 'real' things, instead finding comfort in actions I consider useless, like videogames, or overeating. Like you, I was raised in a comfortable place, never really had to maintain the little things. The possibility of what my mind, soul and body can become is all I need to drive me forward. Happy 2025 brother. May we be better.

    Thank you for this video. I myself struggle with figuring out my identity seperate from interests and friends as well. The idea of tending to small things and paying attention to daily life over being fixed on the future or drowning in the loophole of overconsumption of media and other products really resonated with me. Your words impacted me greatly.

    • @charlietalman

      Means so much to hear that. The consumption of media pairs directly with the overwhelming thought of having to "figure your life out". Simplifying life makes it a lot more digestible. Thanks for watching :)

    24 here. I really understand the sentiment at 2:20 that maybe we haven't put anything of 'real value' into the world yet. But i would argue that at least for me. This experience was real and valuable. I genuinely don't think this video would've resonated with me as much 6 months ago but i got back on my meds and started working out it feels awesome to accomplish a goal i set for myself without being too overwhelmed. I always blamed myself for not being good enough and it really helped to figure out that It wasn't all my fault. great vid and I hope one day you can see the 'real value' I see all over in your art. Your passion matters, your determination matters, and your contributions do not go unnoticed. Keep enjoying the moment and if you take nothing else from this, try to make every moment count with the people you care about and the people who care about you, because there's no telling when the last moment might be. Live for them and be good to them now. No one is ever all the way ready but the good people around you will see and appreciate your effort. To anyone struggling with routine or motivation, I would highly suggest getting a doctor to set you up with a psychiatrist. They're the ones who can prescribe meds and they'll be able to help if there's something out of your control that's keeping you from being all you can be. Therapy is also a great choice for those who can afford it.

    • @charlietalman
      @charlietalman День тому

      I really appreciate you saying that. Understanding what is out of our control and what is in our control is vital. You are right, as long as you try your best and commit to doing right to those you love, your efforts do get noticed. As far as the meds conversation goes, I have had my own experience trying certain medications and having honest conversations with professionals about my struggles. For me, medication was not the answer. That is not to say that people shouldn't take medication. I know plenty of people who's lives were transformed by medication and now can live sustainable and steady lifestyles. I think everyone would benefit from therapy. Whether that is with a professional or with a friend, talking always helps. But the true solution is in the action! I am happy you started working out and taking your meds again. I can't express how much exercise has saved my life! Hope you keep up the good work.

    I thought the same way as you in my early 20's, now im 28. I knew there was potential in myself but never knew where to go, I was stuck. I moved across the country because I was sick of it. I was alone, on my own. Tried out a few hobbies, most never stuck. I finally ended up starting bodybuilding, never thought much about it before. I just tried it and stuck with it, three years later Im a completly different person. Some people may dislike me but Im comfortable with who I am and that's the foundation of everything else. Great video, awesome quality. Didn't expect much of it, good job bud!

      Thank you! I have always been interested in bodybuilding. It's so cool how you experienced exactly what I was trying to refer to. As you know, the little things add up and eventually like you said, you become a completely different person! As long as you feel as though you are staying true to yourself and the people you love, that's all that really matters I think. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. Your support means a lot!

    I´m 45 and i think that you are absolutely right. It also semms obvious to me that you are one of the few really good guys. We see documentaries, movies and shows about people with a big influence. This can make you feel much smaller than you are and like if you would have to achieve something extraordinary. We have not. It´s all good. :) It´s not only about (what´s positive for you) what you do, it´s much more about the things you don´t do. (harm)

    I can really relate to you. I'm 10 years older than you. In my twenties I really didn't think about life thaaat much. But since about 3 years I'm asking myself what I actually want to do with my life. I learned that I need to give myself time and don't overthink life too much. It's important to actively change things to the better but you don't have to do that all at once. Take your time (especially when you are so young like you :P ) I know it's hard but it helped me a lot to stop comparing myself to other peoples achievements. I stopped using social media (like Instagram) and my mental health improved so much. I hope you will find your way <3

      My buddy said something to me once that your commented reminds me of. "If other people's lives make you feel bad about your own, you are doing something wrong." Comparing yourself to anybody but the person you want to be is a one-way ticket to confusion and discouragement. I totally agree, social media is just a muddy bog that intensifies everything. I also wish you the best in your life journey. I trust you will find what you are looking for :)

    I feel you man. I am currently 21 years old and feel like if I were to die tomorrow, my life would have amounted to nothing. Like you, a lot of my life's decisions have been fairly basic, with me just going to school and never really having to work very hard toward anything. Now though, I am in college in a major I have begun to realize I don't enjoy and am confused as to where to direct my life. It is scary to commit to a step when I feel like nothing truly excites me and it feels impossible to know what I would truly enjoy. However, like your principle about maintenance, I have begun to realize that life is so much more than just your accomplishments or how much money you make. Sure, having a job in something you are truly passionate about would be amazing; but it is not necessary for a good life. The quality of your life is YOUR decision. Nobody else is going to give you the life you want and dream of. It is your life, it is your effort. Along with this, I have realized that if you want a better life, just look to those around you. See how you can be the help that you want to those people. Be what you need for them. Trust me, the more you direct your attention to others, the faster your personal problems will sort themselves out. Also, just to add, I loved your video, and keep it up! I am excited to see where your journey takes you!

    • @charlietalman
      @charlietalman День тому

      You are absolutely right! A self-centered life is a complicated and messy one. You have a good head on your shoulders. I can tell that if you follow your intuition and gut, everything will work out. I find gratitude helps a lot with the whole idea of maintenance, too. Everyday we wake up is a blessing, and like you said, it is your effort which makes the quality of your life mean something. The good thing about your uncertainty around your major and life direction, is the fact that you are also just entering your adulthood, like me. We just gotta keep trying and learning! I really appreciate you leaving a comment and watching the video. Means a lot.
