Autumn is here, so this is topical! I love the whole 23 minutes of this song, one of my DT all-time favorite.. I just picked this lead as I think it it representative of John Petrucci's lead work - it is very melodic and fits the chord progression well, and uses several of his signature licks. This is a short video of the me recording Untenable for ZIO's 2nd album TRUEWAVES. For this prog-metal part, I quad-tracked the guitars for some extra heaviness :) Tone is a Mesa Mark IIC model in my AxeFXIII, with a Mesa 2x12 & SM57 cab IR. Guitar is a GOC Materia 8 with Lundgren M8 pickups. The 4 tracks are panned 100% Left, 65% Left, 65% Right and 100% Right.

Sorry, I cannot provide the backing track or the tabs for this song. They should be purchased on Gus G's website. Alternatively, you could try one of the new AI tools that lets you separate the various instruments of a track, that might just fork.

Thank you!! The tabs and backing tracks are copyrighted material so I'd rather not share them, hope you'll understand... I bought the tabs and backing tracks here: gusgofficial.bigcartel.com/product/quantumleap-ebook-bt. Under "Select Option", you need to hover on the line that appears white until you go on it and select that option. You should be able to complete the purchase after that.

From one guitar player to another, thats very good technique you're showing there. The track is not the easiest to learn, a.though its all similar lines and phrasing, it does have subtle changes all the way through, so good job indeed. Jamming with backing track is definitely better, i might se if i can find that. Has Gus G made the official tab himself or has it been transcribed by somebody else?

I bought the official tabs and backing tracks package for the whole album, mainly to look at a couple of the faster runs but I learnt it mostly by ear and with the live play-through I linked in the description. You can see what both hands are doing really clearly. Only thing to bear in mind is that he is tuned in D standard but I play it in E standard so everything needs to be shifted by 2 frets down from what you see...

Max S Merci :) J’ai fait ça vite fait juste quelques minutes avant la deadline et du coup pas eu le temps d’enregistrer proprement avec Reaper+Axe FX et monter le son avec la vidéo. Ça m’apprendra à tt faire à la dernière seconde ;)
