For example of you want to test for proteins you can use milk or commercially synthesised egg albumen sold by the lab suppliers. if it's starch you can use starch solution made by dissolving starch powder into distilled water. so it varies from one substrate to the other

Thank you for enlightening me, I don't have a lab technician to help me prepare them and I'm a start in my career. Are all the foods such as starch power commercial available? And do you dissolve all of them in distilled water?

Finally, do you mix all of them together before testing the various foods from one solution?

hello cooling is only necessary when testing for non reducing sugars. This is because for reducing sugars, once you are done with heating, you just write the observation.

Ok good question. The positive test (one one that changed from blue to green, yellow, orange then brown) is a glucose solutionglucose is a reducing sugars. The other one that did not change (remained blue is just water) It was the control for the experiment.

i thought we need to put the positive and negative tests in a boiling water in a beaker?
