I would've voted for: 1 Rikidozan 2 Gorgeous George 3 Antonio Inoki 4 Arn Anderson 5 Midnight Express 6 Sgt Slaughter 7 Ricky Steamboat 8 Rick Rude Tough too leave off Backlund
Honestly, I rate Arn as a top 5 promo guy. When I fantasy book, I make him a manager bc he'd be perfect for it. Cornette, Flair, Dusty, Ole.... who else was a better promo?
I love Stan Lane and he still looks amazing but Dennis Condrey was a better in-ring worker, better on the mic, and a better psychologist than Stan Lane. Both versions of the team were great.
How is Verne Gagne not even on the nomination list? How is Rikidozan not already in? Don't mean to criticize too much bc the members who are in are good (I don't understand how Thesz wasn't 1st ballot, but he's in). John Cena is in & Gagne & Rikidozan aren't? I can name a lot of dudes I'd put in before Cena
I typed that before your rant on Rikidozan not being in. Make me a voter bc the voters aren't qualified if they aren't voting for Rikidozan
Verne Gagne was very good in the ring.... And he was a pretty good, not great, territory owner.
Gagne vs Lou Thesz matches are about as good as it gets
I love you guys, You make me laugh, And I'm a big Clash of Champions fan. I'll be here.
PWI must have been in Cahoots with New Japan in 1995. At least 4-5 New Japan Guys are ranked way too high and Kawada & Kobashi (All Japan) are ranked way too low. IMO, they are on par or better than MIsawa (who is ranked too low) in 1995. Seriously. If you like Misawa, you can't not like Kawada & Kobashi. Impossible, I'd rank all 3 of those guys top 10- maybe top 5 in 1994 and 1995. Not even questionable, Ranking any one of those guys below Kevin Nash is a travesty. I wouldn't watch a Kevin Nash match unless I paid to do so.
The best wrestling on the planet in 1994 & 1995 is in All Japan.
I love 2 Cold Scorpio
I named a fantasy baseball team '2 Cold Scorpio' once
You guys should do a top 20 personal favorite and top 20 best on an episode.
I agree with you guys about Benoit. He's in my top 3 favorite wrestlers of all-time
Thanks for the shoutout!!!
Marc Mero was a very good worker. I was a big fan
Kobashi is way too low
Psicosis vs El Hijo Del Santo is a great match. You guys should watch it
Ultimo Dragon is ranked way too low. Even for 1995
I think of Doom & WCW champ Ron Simmons when I think of Ron SImmons
Hell yeah guys. Keep it up👍🏽.
1 Chris Benoit 2 Ultimo Dragon 3 Jushin Thunder Liger 4 Dean Malenko 5 Psicosis 6 Juventud Guerrera 7 Rey Mysterio Jr 8 Chris Candido 9 Vader (He was still on top in Japan) 10 Steve Austin 11 Kenta Kobashi 12 Toshiaki Kawada 13 Jun Akiyama 14 Bubba Ray Dudley 15 D-Von Dudley 16 2 Cold Scorpio 17 Bam Bam Bigelow 18 Eddy Guerrero 19 Booker T 20 Rick Steiner 21 Owen Hart 22 Yoshinari Ogawa 23 Mike Awesome 24 Ken Shamrock 25 Scott Norton 26 Hugh Morrus 27 Perry Saturn 28 Cactus Jack 29 Alex Wright 30 Shane McMahon If Jim Ross is alive, he's my #1 commentator. Teaming him with Heenan. Mike Tenay & Bischoff are interviewers and commentators on secondary shows. Cornette is still my #1 manager. Arn Anderson is a manger. DDP is a face manager. Madusa is a face manger (could possibly turn). Can can Luna w Bam Bam & she can feud w Madusa & have matches. Mike Tenay & Bischoff can be interviewers and commentators. Shiavone is a producer and maybe an interviewer.
1 Vader 2 Kenta Kobashi 3 Mitsuharu Misawa 4 Toshiaki Kawada 5 Scott Steiner 6 Rick Steiner 7 Brian Pillman 8 Sid Vicious 9 Sting 10 Rick Rude 11Jushin Thunder Liger 12 Stunning Steve 13 Cactus Jack 14 Davey Boy Smith 15 Bam Bam Bigelow 16 Stan Hansen 17 Dr Death 18 The Patriot Del Wilkes 19 2 Cold Scorpio 20 Hawk 21 Curt Hennig 22 Johnny B Badd (I need a good worker, AND HE IS, that can job) 23 Brad Armstrong 24 Ultimo Dragon 25 Jimmy Del Ray (Amazing worker that jobs & Tags with Tracey Smothers) 26 Tracy Smothers 27 Tito Santana ( I need a face that can work and lose) 28 Shawn Michaels (I'm jobbing him out) 29 Big Bubba Rogers 30 Owen Hart Face tag team Hawk & Sid Vicious beat Kawada & Misawa in a fake tournament with real finals to win the World Tag Team Titles. They will quickly lose to heels Stan Hansen & Dr Death, which will cause Hawk & Sid to break up and feud, Hawk turning face. Hansen & Dr Death will feud w the Steiner Bro, who will eventually win the titles after a long feud and have long run as champions. Jimmy Del Ray & Tracy Smothers having good matches with them as the first challengers, establishing them as a legit team, although they will continue to lose to everyone except Saturday morning TV jobbers Sting & Curt Hennig face off in the finals of a fake tournament for the World Heavyweight title but a disputed fishes leaves the title in limbo. A series of disputed finishes (Sting should have clearly won most of these) finally ends with Sting submitting Hennig to the Scorpion Death Lock in a steel cage match. Vader challenges Sting and wins the title. Sting will win a rematch but Vader will win the 3rd match in a finish that keeps Sting strong and on top but Vader will have a long run with the title. Jim Ross & Heenan on commentary. Tony Shiavone is the interviewer. Cornette & Arn Anderson are top managers (Arn is one of the best talkers ever). Terry Funk is my face manager. Funk is better as a heel but I need a face manager for Kobashi, Liger, Dragon and others, Funk has a Japanese connection and I can't think of a better option. I considered Madusa for this. But I will use Madusa as a heel manager for Kawada & Misawa. Funk & Madusa will feud (I had The Patriot & 2 Cold Scorpio on my list before you mentioned it, but you did talk me into Owen... And I had Tom Pritchard until you mentioned Smothers....)
1 Ric Flair 2 Sting 3 Bam Bam Bigelow 4 Ricky Steamboat 5 Macho Man 6 Rick Rude 7 Terry Funk 8 Barry Windham 9 Davie Boy Smith 10 Rick Steiner 11 Arn Anderson 12 Scott Steiner 13 Brian Pillman 14 Stunning Steve Austin 15 Big Bubba Rogers 16 Brad Armstrong 17 Ron Simmons 18 Jushin Thunder Liger 19 One Man Gang (I need someone to beat) 20 Jacques Rougeau 21 Terry Gordy 22 Dr Death 23 Cactus Jack 24 Terry Taylor 25 Bobby Eaton (Bobby & Terry Taylor are the Midnight Express with Cornette) 26 Fatu 27 Samoan Savage 28 Tommy Rogers 29 Tom Zenke (Tag with Tommy Rogers. Good looking, good working baby face tean. Maybe even use the Fantastics name and gimmick) 30 Curt Hennig (You talked me into it. I disagree about being the most 'natural' wrestler. Young Scott Steiner. Younger Steve Austin. Brad Armstrong. Brian Pillman, Jushin Liger) Jim Cornette & Bobby Hennan are top managers. Jim Ross is top Commentator. Cornette and Heenan will both work commentary. Tony Shiavone is the interviewer. Tony can fill in on commentary when Jim or Bobby are busy. Maybe bring is Dusty Rhodes to fill in if Tony is producing. Probably will have another manager but maybe not....Flair, Arn, & Big Bubba are the 4 Horsemen. Barry will start face and turn and join the Horsemen. I only drafted with half a plan. Guys I wish made my roster: Haku, Barbarian, Warlord, Samu, Hawk, Animal, Sid Vicious, Owen Hart.
Loved Juvi. He and Psicosis are my favorite luchadors. I liked him better than Rey Jr to be honest.
Aw man! You guys would love Jun Akiyama. I'm serious. I've watched him mostly in tag teams and mostly from this era. I didn't realize he was only wrestling 3 years in 1995, but he was wrestling basically 1 or 2 steps down form the main event and sometimes int he main event in a tag team title match or big 6 man. But watch him tagging with Kobashi against Misawa & Ogawa or Kawada & Taue. Watch 6 man tags with Misawa, Kobashi, Kawada, Taue, Jun, & a 6th man - whoever it may be, it will be good..... We kinda like similar things, except for Demolition- LOL!- but I really thinks this is something you guys will like. It will be in AJPW staring in 1994 (probably earlier, but 1994 is the best imo) and lasting until 2000 (Then he goes to NOAH, I think. NOAH was prettty good tbh, but not as good as the 94-99 AJPW..... I'm certainly not an expert of Japanese of AJPW wrestling, but I am a fan of 1992-2000 AJPW. I think from 1994 thru 2000 AJPW was better than anything in the USA. Keep in mind my absolute favorite era of wresting is specifically 1985-1987 Crockett Promotions.
I agree with the Fantastics take.. I loved the Fantastics! I think they're underrated historically. I'd rank them in my personal top 10.
I hated Demolition. Turning the channel type of hate. Did nothing for me..... I dare you to go to google images and search for a picture of Demolition without their tongues sticking out.
Kobashi, Kawada, & Misawa were 3 of the best wrestlers in the world of the 90s imo. 1994-95 All-Japan is better than any American Wrestling in 1994-95. Not even close.
How does someone not vote for Rikidozan??????????????
That's like not voting for Inoki or Baba... Or Lou Thesz for that matter. Hell, Rikidozan was WAYYYYY better in the ring than Baba,,, And just as important out of it.
I've really emjoyed listening. I think I've listened to you guys on Soundcloud several times before. I think I'm about the same age as you guys but I was a bigger fan earlier. My 1st favorite wrestler was Boogey Woogie Man when I was 5 or 6 years old. LOL! Then a huge Rock N Roll Fan. I remember the beginning of the Horsemen and their whole run. 85-92 is my favorite era. I think 86 is easily the best year ever, I watched all wrestling but was a huge NWA/JCP/WCW mark. Once Sting changed to the Crow wrestling was never the same to me again Before the really, but that was the nail in the coffin.. after that, watching wrestling was like watching an old friend die due to self inflicted issues, I watched it until about 2001 but I didn't even like it really. Anyway, really enjoy the show.
@Rigamus11 even though I still watch today (WWE and OVW mostly) my fandom pretty much peaks right after the beginning of the attitude era. Never stopped watching after that, but I've definitely never been as into wrestling since then. -Nate
Lobe the Mark Madden take, I commented on your Worst Card Episode & it was a toss up between Madden & Coachman for me. They are on the same level in my book but Coachman is just a little less tolerable over a long period of time.
Roadblock! Good Call!! I change my main event to Tony Zane vs Roadblock!
Main Event: Tony Zane vs Virgil in a 60 min iron man match
Lead Commentator: Jonathan Coachman Color Commentator: Dr Death Steve Williams
Arn hated Matt Bourne in real life bc Bourne was an epic asshole
My dream 30 man roster from 1992 would be 1 Vader 2 Scott Steiner 3 Rude 4 Rick Steiner 5 Pillman 6 Davey Boy 7 Sting 8 Jushin Liger 9 Ultimo Dragon (He was not included in your pool of wrestlers, but I'm taking him anyway 10 Brad Armstrong 11 Arn Anderson 12 Undertaker (He's gonna be some version of the American Badass for me. Not sure if that name or another name) 13 Hawk 14 Cactus Jack 16 Dean Malenko 17 Ron Simmons 18 Gordy 19 Dr Death 20 Stunning Steve 21 Tracy Smothers 22 Big Bubba Rogers 23 Ric Flair 24 Eddie Guerrero 25 Hulk Hogan 26 Barry Windham 27 Terry Funk 28 Bobby Eaton 29 Koko B Ware 30 Owen Hart I would add a few more guys to use a jobbers bc I don't have many guys to job out. Jim Ross is the #1 announcer. Jim Cornette & The Brain are the top managers. 4 Horsemen- Flair, Arn, Eaton, Big Bubba, Maklenko (I know it's 5- Bubba will act as a bodyguard and as a second as well as wrestlling and Arn will act as a manager/2nd along with wrestling) Tag Teams - Steiner Bros, Hawk & Undertaker, Gordy & Dr Death, Simmons & Windham, Pillman & Armstrong, Arn & Eaton, Owen & Koko, Stunning Steve & Eddie Guerro & Smothers will work as a 3 man group alternating who works as a 2 man team- the other will have a singles match, Liger & Dragon, Cactus & Funk. All of these guys will work as singles as well. Sting & Davey Boy will be top babyfaces & will likely work together in tags but are mainly singles wrestlers.
@@Rigamus11 love the roster! Thanks for listening!
I agree with the Williams & Gordy take!
Drafting 1992 JYD "Because you can put him on a poster" when Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, & Sting are available.... LOL! Wow!
Brad Armstrong is a must im 1992. I would have a light heavyweight division with Liger, Armstrong, Malenko, Pillman, Eddie Guerrero, Ultimo Dragon, Tracy Smothers
That's only 7. I'd have to listen to the choices again, but I'd probably add 1-3 more for that division. Maybe Rocky Morton. Not sure who else would fit that category without hearing the options again. But I would draft heavy for in-ring work & the light heavyweights may be the best workers in the business in 1992 outside of BOTH Steiners, Davey Boy, Bret Hart, Rude, and maybe a couple of others.
1992 Scott Steiner was amazing
And you wonder why nobody needs to hear this wonderful content?
Whether sincere or sarcastic, your comment is appreciated.
Keep up the work guys love the content
9:24 yup thats a great point
