When Doubt Comes to Town – Overcoming the Self-Doubt Spiral
Three months into building my coaching business and embracing self-employment, everything was going smoothly-until it wasn’t. Out of nowhere, self-doubt hit me like a freight train. Suddenly, the planning, momentum, and excitement I’d been riding ground to a halt, replaced by procrastination, stress, and a wave of negative self-belief.
In this video, I share how I recognised the impact of self-doubt, what it revealed about my mindset, and, most importantly, the steps I took to move forward. Using journaling techniques, mindful meditation, and honest reflection, I untangled what was holding me back and developed a practical plan to get back on track.
If you’ve ever felt stuck or overwhelmed by self-doubt in your own journey-whether in work, life, or a personal goal-this video might resonate with you. It’s not about avoiding doubt entirely but learning how to work through it when it inevitably shows up.
Let’s talk about how to keep moving forward, even when doubt comes knocking.

Fabulous Matt! Interesting chat, especially about changing things up and going to different places. Viewing the world with a different set of eyes! It's easy to loss the ability and find excitement and enthusiasm to change our thinking. Very easy to become 'fixed and stuck'. So refreshing to change our thinking. In turn we change our belief's and learn that we can chose to change direction and continue to learn, grow and enjoy life, no matter what age or where we might be in life! Eye opening! Thanks Matt!

I was very reluctant to do this but thanks to you Matt, I have taken the time to complete a free VIA Character Strength. It's truly fascinating to discover what really are considered to be our very best character strengths. Even more fascinating is to learn about the ones, that perhaps, we could learn to work on. Maybe time to do this again, moving into a new year! My late husband also, had books and studied this very topic too. It was a very interesting discovery and connection!

Looking upon retirement, as a new opportunity and reevaluation of our lives is a great asset to achieve and have. Looks like a really beneficial direction to be stepping into Matt. It does take time to build up a business, but you can see how ready you are for this! Great video and advice. It's lovely to be able to have the time to develop and progress, in a direction, not only to grow into your more authentic self, but a direction that also benefits and helps others. You are both blessed and lucky! You are putting in the work and your efforts are going to be so rewarding.

I used to work for Cisco IT solutions years back in Slough , I used to be the guy who would install all their new Servers and set up their Networking equipment but since 2016 onwards that all ended as nowadays most Companies dont use Old fashioned servers or desktop PCs anymore , My uncle for example has all his data stored in a cloud network and in his company they just use laptops like Macbook pro or even iPads to do all their business , so yeah IT jobs unless you can write code etc are not well paid anymore and most ive seen are like zero hours roles , I ended up working in retail due to the way things have gone.

Totally agree. Slowly getting there. Thanks for the suggestion of intermittent fasting. It's something I have considered and I think there's some versions of it that I could use. I'm finding accountability helps me. I've had a PT for a few years now and I'm definitely stronger than I was in my 40s. Never really took diet seriously though. So, I've recently started something similar with managing my weight and so far it's looking positive. Long way to go though :-). Thanks.
