i hope in the future they'll fix it. it will definitely be looking good. and maybe if they could somehow make gameplay always run on 60fps without speeding up game speed. and finally hires textures, because right now the only available enhancement is 2xsal.

Ridge Racer Type 4 is a Playstation 1 game, if sony had not end support for ps1, there will be new titles for ps1, like Nintendo DS, nds and ps1 basicly has same performance and capabilities.

    The System 12 hardware wasn't exactly a PS1 it had twice the RAM and a 48mhz CPU instead of 33mhz.

    For what I've heard, SoulCalibur was originally going to be released for PS1; but Ivy's weapon was difficult to animate due to software limitations, so they decided to change platform and picked up the Dreamcast. I know this is fanmade, but, do we know if Namco did any progress in the PS1 version? Does proof of them developing the game for PS1 exists? Maybe a very, very early build without Ivy? I'm curious. This technically classiffies as lost media.

    Nope. System 12 is based on PSX architecture, but is more powerful. It has 2X RAM and processor almost twice as fast, Soul Calibur is probably one of the games that take the hardware beyond it´s limits, more than Tekken 3 and TTT, so they tried to port the game, but could not do it. Ivy weapon pshysics were one of the main reasons.

      Do you know if Namco did any progress in the port before changing the platform to the Dreamcast? I don't think they dropped it immediately, because we know exactly what you just said: Ivy's weapon was a major obstacle due to software limitations, meaning that they had to try to port it to the PS1 first.

    The original Playstation unfortunately couldn't do perspective correct texture mapping. It used a process called "Affine texture mapping" which caused textures to become warped because it didn't take depth into account when rendering the texture at an angle. Sadly, unless you rewrite the entire PS1 renderer (and not have 100% accuracy) the effect is here to stay. Maybe somebody could write a post-process texture correction wrapper? I know I couldn't.

    I wish it was for PS2 and 260 Console it would be just like the 360 Version with Graphic Sounds from Character's Voices not the ones from Dreamcast There Voices where a Higher Pitch that I don't Like on the Sega Version

    Don't you get it noob? Those texture warping is present in the original console as well. It's called "perspective correction".and in order to correct those perspective and shows correct unwarped texture, you need Z-BUFFER. PSX and Saturn did not have z buffer.

      +preystation4 You don't need a z-buffer... there's other algorithms. PS1 just didn't support it in hardware.

      The Saturn used quads as a basic geometric primitive, afaik as a way to mitigate texture warping. Same went for Nvidia's NV1 which was more or less based on Saturn tech, but we all know how that went.

    This is just what the real PS1 looked like if you upped the resolution. Every game was like this. The low resolution just hit it.

    Sorry, PS1 can't do perspective correct textures, as the hardware does not have depth buffering. Texture warping is a pre-existing feature of the original hardware and was not merely introduced by emulation, nor can it be fixed by anything less than per-game hacks which may as well involve rewriting the full game engines.

      +Sarah Cartwright But you do need depth information in the renderer, which is the display hardware. PS1 display hardware was never aware of depth information, only U and V screen coordinates. It is impossible to do perspective correct texturing in screen coordinate space. Unless maybe you were suggesting that PS1 games use the puny MIPS CPU to perform full software rendering with perspective correction?
