But It’s Your Family: When Should You Stop That Excuse? | Episode 75 | The UnMothered Podcast
Переглядів 1428 днів тому
Part of breaking generational dysfunction is to stop allowing the excuse of, “But it’s your family.” When do we stick by family because it’s family, and when do we have to decide on something better? Over the years I’ve come to a realization that loving families show up and it’s a safe place, not a place that makes you more miserable when you are around them. Knowing that unless THEY (your mom ...

Overcoming Toxic Childhood Narratives That Shape Us | Episode 73 | The UnMothered Podcast

Can the things that were said to you as a child create a negative narrative as you become an adult? When I was watching the show Bridgerton on Netflix, the plot of the series stood out to me. The son had always held a narrative over his head because of actions or words that were said to him when he was younger. There is no need to have held a spot in your body and mind that has made you make de...

    YES! get the object of the addiction taken care of first then work on the emotional/spiritual part. Sugar addiction: get the sugar/processed food/high carb food out of our system first. Same with all other addictions (alcohol/drugs) get those things out of the body then begin working on the emotional/spiritual part. 😁😇🥰✝

    Is it OK to wear a sequin dress to a 3pm wedding?

    • @phylismantelli
      @phylismantelli 3 місяці тому

      I always love sparkles and sequins! LOL I would ask if this is a wedding at a dressier reception hall, beach venue, or mountainside? The location is key, but there are always exceptions. Also, did the invite say "cocktail or black tie" attire or is it more casual? 3pm is going into evening, so it would be perfectly fine to wear something dressier if the venue calls for it. Sounds like fun!

    So happy to hear you giving credit to QVC. What do we think about a white linen blazer over a knee length dress? The top is drop-waist, sleeveless, navy. The skirt is 360’ full cut with cursive white over navy abstract flowers. The wedding is at 4:30 in an event space. Northern Va. My ideal would be a navy tie front sweater, but am having a hard time finding one in a substantial fabric.

Awesome to hear that she found a counselor who understands narcissism and told her about it. I will be forever grateful for Freedom Academy, and the ladies who told me about this term and recommended a book. the healing in the last few years and finally getting to a place of Self love has brought me so much peace and joy ❤🙏 I also agree that we need to train pastors in trauma and counseling, or they should just refer people to trained counselors. I am also glad to see so much awareness of the harm that narcissism causes in marriages being addressed and hopefully pastors and church leaders will no longer suggest people stay in harmful marriages

      I love that this episode resonated with you! It's not an easy topic to speak put on, especially as a Christian. I completely agree that pastors should be trained in trauma, and also we shouldn't be told we need to stay in relationships that are toxic and abusive. Stepping away from those situations and practicing healthy boundaries are a must in those situations.

    I am an “older” woman and honestly believe that most older women should use makeup on a regular basis…not just a touch of concealer or a little mascara…but real, honest to goodness, makeup. Less is not more as we age…we look pale and more worn out as age takes over…I do not understand the mindset that says “I’m older and don’t care anymore”…a little time spent doing makeup and hair makes a world of difference…you look younger and healthier if makeup is worn correctly…and, yes, people react to you differently if you present yourself looking like someone who naturally and regularly cares about your appearance.

      Thank you! My mom was the same; red lipstick, brows and a pat from her lipstick on her cheeks for blush! And that was only worn when she was going out. I'm glad to help and I am a bit of a nut, so if I make you laugh...it's a bonus!! LOL

    Hey Ms.Phylis, Amazing!! Your video content is unique, and I enjoyed it very much. So far, you have uploaded 95+ videos and achieved 784+ subscribers but your videos are not viewed and subscribed that much. The numbers should be more than they are now. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target viewers. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will get viral views. So you need to optimize your UA-cam channel do video SEO and video promotion then your channel will rank & and grow very fast and monetization of your channel will be on. Are you interested in improving those issues?
