    The presentation was great but the product doesn't seem to have a good cable management. At the back of the charging stand the MagSafe cable management look like it could come out from that deeper line that holds it. Is the stick of the stand and the lower part made of plastic or metal?

    • @tryandbyte
      @tryandbyte 4 місяці тому

      Hi there, the base of the stand is metal, but the stalk part is plastic. I see what you mean with the cable, the issue to me is that the MagSafe cable is quite thick, so if the cable comes out a bit deeper there is a chance the base wouldn't sit flat. - Derek

    Also works great on Samsung's current line of Android foldables. I have the Z Fold 4 and recommend landscape mode, clamped horizontally, for safe and secure holding without damaging the hinge. Unlike with cradle-style mounts, this gives access to the volume rocker and fingerprint sensor while securely in place. I originally got this to save my neck from hurting after hunching over to see the taskbar, when composing my graphics and writing documents with the Logitech K810 and Microsoft Mobile Mouse.. It does the job nicely. Looks elegant, too.

    2:02 I thought it wouldnt fit because plug was too small😂😂. Bought in2024. It is so tiny. I like the audio jack because i don’t want wireless. Tested port with LaCie rugged HD. It worked! My drive is factory formatted as exFAT, which most operating systems can read. Supposedly drive is plug and play compatible. But, i swear it was scary to hear it wins down not so quiet. Hi! Can you tell me if the width of the Nomad Sport Band is the same as the Apple Sport band? I have what I believe to be an older model of this Nomad Sport band (asssumingly released in 2019), and measuring the strap it's 18 mm, while the original Apple Sport band is 20 mm. That is the S/M size for the 41 mm Apple Watch. I'm assuming the measurements of the 45 mm version would be helpful as I would think that it scales accordingly (same size ratio for both models)

    It uses proprietary brick in 2022. When there are plenty GaN chargers to chose from, Nomad included. It doesn’t make any sense. Hi Michael, thank you for the comment. In terms of the cases, the one is the video is a Nomad one so I can't comment on the Apple leather cases. In terms of whether the charger leaves a mark, from my testing it doesn't (it could be because the strength of the magnetic alignment isn't as strong as MagSafe). In terms of the camera bump, we haven't heard of any issues with the 13, with the 14 we will need to see. With wireless charging, phones will tend to get warm, it isn't anything out of the ordinary with the Base Station. Hope that helps.

If the status LED on the dock doesn't light up, it means that the cable from the TS4 to the computer is connected to the wrong port (it has to be plugged in the port marked 'computer'). Hi, I need a dock, my new M1 Mac Mini isn't blessed with a lot of ports, so a dock (or hub) is needed. The TS3+ gets some pretty damn good reviews but the TS4 doesn't seem as good when you read the comments/reviews, one of the biggest issues is the noise the unit makes, this has been enough to get some users to return their unit and look elsewhere. I have 4 units in mind; the TS3+ proven and reliable but outgoing tech, the TS4 which is getting some damn awesome reviews but appears to have some issues (maybe wait until the TS4+?), the Caldigit Thunderbolt Element Hub, nothing but ports ports and more ports but sadly only in two varieties, the OWC Thunderbolt 4 dock, looks pretty damn good but has that annoying computer connection coming out of the front of the dock rather than the rear or side. In essence 4 excellent docks/hubs but each with flaws that makes choosing the right one more difficult and as all are not cheap a well researched and informed decision would appear sensible. Your thoughts? Excellent video by the way, no YT BS which is really nice, thanks.

    • @tryandbyte
      @tryandbyte 2 роки тому

      Hi Martin, thank you for the comment. I personally haven't come across the noise issue with the TS4 but the environments I work in aren't particularly quiet. As you say, the Element Hub only gives you USB-A and Thunderbolt ports, which defeats the purpose if you want the extras like Ethernet and SD card slots - so I would probably rule that out unless those ports are enough for you. I'd probably still lean towards a TS4 if I am getting a new dock. CalDigit are working on some firmware updates (there is supposed to be a macOS updater coming soon - but it isn't available as of now). It could be worth waiting to see if the situation improves. I've never used the OWC docks, so I can't comment on them. Let me know if you have any other questions. - Derek

      Hi Miguel, thank you! It is a Moment Thin Case with MagSafe in Olive (mine is for iPhone 12 Pro Max, it is available for the 13 as well).

    I found this stand unable to hold my iPad Pro 11 securely at most angles - the iPad would fall forward. At full extended length of the arm, I feel the base should have been twice it’s weight to offer stability. Moreover, the set screws designed to tighten the portions of the articulated arm were very hard to tighten or loosen, even with the included Allen wrenches. Upon arrival, I played with this stand for three hours before sending it back for a refund. I’ve used several iPad stands over the years, and, unfortunately, this stand was the worst I ever tried.

      Hi George, that is strange. In this video I am using it with an iPad Pro 12.9 and for the most part it held pretty well with the base - the desk clamp is good for a bit of extra stability. I am glad you managed to get a refund though.

      Same problem was mentioned in the video: ua-cam.com/video/p47q6VWAuy8/v-deo.html Moreover like I said there also: No place for your Apple pencil. This seems a serious design flaw to me. Ge magnetic I would say.

    What black silicone case is that that you're using on your iPhone (4:47)?? "It kinda looks like a biscuit from here...but I assure you, its not" haha Thanks for the roundup - I've been looking at the Nomad mount (the flat one).

    • @tryandbyte
      @tryandbyte 2 роки тому

      Hi Edward! The case is actually a Nomad Leather Rugged Case, what you can see from the front is the TPU protective bumper portion of it (the back is brown leather).

    Their bands are one size fit most.. if you have a bigger wrist stay away from these. They don't let you pick the size. Im a M/L and they sent me a S/M and wouldn't exchange for the bigger size. Highly unsatisfied.

      Hi Jonathan, you're right - sadly these are one size fits most. IIRC the Apple bands come with two sizes in the box.

    Can this stand be used with iPhone 11? My receipt says for 12 & 13. TY

      Hi Valerie, it doesn't as it requires a MagSafe compatible iPhone (which is currently the iPhone 12 and 13).

    Hello. Great video! What are you thoughts on attaching a DJI mic receiver to the charge port of a iPhone 13 pro max in vertical position? Do you believe it will be able to fit?

    • @tryandbyte
      @tryandbyte 2 роки тому

      Thanks Brandon! Do you mean if the receiver will fit with a Moment case on the phone? I don't have the DJI Mic but I doubt it, if their other devices are anything to go by (like the Osmo Pocket) there isn't that much clearance with the Lightning connector. In saying that, this could be a good reason for me to buy the DJI Mic..

    Really impressed by this! A few questions for you as I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing: 1. Scripting - are u using a teleprompter or freestyling? 2. How long did filming take and how long did editing take? 3. Hardware - I have most of the recording hardware (camera, lights, mics) but I’m running M1 MacBook Air. Would video editing be too intensive for it? Keep up the good work

    • @tryandbyte
      @tryandbyte 2 роки тому

      Thanks Mankit! To answer your questions. 1. I work off a script that is condensed down to dot points - and I just glance at it every once in a while (and cut it out in editing). 2. Filiming takes 1-2 hours (it depends on whether I need extra product shots). Editing is double the filming time (and more if it needs a lot of titles and graphics). 3. The M1 Air is fine for video editing processing wise, storage is more of a concern. Especially long clips in 4K, it can really add up.
