    So would you advise the 22mil for a Rental vs the 12mil?

    • @0byy
      @0byy 2 дні тому

      It's a $1 more but I'm not sure if it worth the cost for a rental

      @@0byy If all other specs are close then get the cheaper one. If its 2-3mm thinner, no attached back vs attached back, china product vs a Shaw, Mowhawk, AHF brand, then we think its worth an extra $1.

    What makes no sense to me is no cabinets on floating floor but a heavy refrigerator and stove is ok. Then you may have a kitchen table and chairs along with a bakers rack holding the microwave and toaster oven. Dishwasher too. Hmmmm. I just dont agree with you.

    I have seen a screw that’s used for hardwood floors. Do you recommend those? I only want to work in installation for an hour at a time and renting a nail gun for a couple weeks would be really expensive.

    A better option would be to screw 5mm or 1/4@ plywood over the particle board, then GLUE the hardwood. We do this all the time. Glue never fails or squeaks. STAUF ADHESIVES ROCK!

    Sorry to ask an unrelated question? My home in Florida sits off the ground and I’m currently looking to switch from carpet to vinyl planks. I was told that unless I get a vapor barrier installed underneath my home, moisture would most likely get between the subfloor and planks and cause damage. Even when it rains water doesn’t get under my house. What’s your opinion?

    The real reason you won’t share to the viewers which Shaw luxury flooring is the best. It’s because you have a lot of shitty products in your warehouse with the Shaw name on it. Most of the luxury vinyl flooring is made in Vietnam Cheap Cheap . anybody can reach out to the manufacturing plants in Vietnam and have their name put on it and once it gets to the US then the buzzards come out and overcharged for the product.

    Thanks guys for being the only ones on the internet speaking the truth. ripping out at least 1500 square feet of particle board is easier said than done, which seems to be the consensus, "just replace with osb". Maybe if thats your only project and you have nothing but time and money-nobody. What would be the best technique for installing 3/4 solid over dry, good conditioned particle board from the early 70s? Im thinking about applying red gaurd to the particle board, (im not concerned about moisture because im a decent living human being and there is ply in the kitchen area Lol) and then glue and nail down the solid hardwood throughout the house. is the glue necessary? thanks

      also just want to say that in pulling up two of the particle subfloor sheets, the nails were extremely difficult to get out, being installed 50 years ago. i imagine the nail gun will be adequate but adding some adhesive will not hurt. for people that say it will move, I do not understand as you are sandwhiching to a ledger board

  • @zeeman9145

    my wooden floor is sagging when I walk between supporting 2 x 4s that are laid on the concrete approximately 3 feet apart. I do not know the proper name for those supports so I will refer to them as beams. simply, there are not enough of support beams that are laying on concrete floor, I think they should have laid those supports every foot or so to give it more stability, then put the wooden floor on it. This is a cottage so previous owner did not invest lots of money in quality work. So, because sub-floor is poorly constructed there is a quite of a sag when you step between sub-floor beams, so my question is - can I inject the spray foam between existing floorboards and concrete surface by drilling through the floor boards in order to help stiffen the floor? I am thinking that maybe drilling the holes in the floor on every couple of feet between the supporting beams and injecting the foam will stiffen the floor, then I would lay over this a new hardwood floor. any pros or cons?

    Hello. I like your videos. Any suggestions with plywood white birch floors. I ripped planks installed them and there are some gaps throughout the flooring. I like the way it looks kinda of rustic beach vibe but Im concerned about the wet areas like bathrooms and the kitchen. Besides a good top coat can I leave the gaps the way there are and rely on the top coat?
