Hey! I’m back from a hiatus in doing video reviews and this IEM tickled my fancy. Softears Studio 4 is an impressive midrange level IEM for musicians, artists, sound engineers, and audiophiles. I really loved this set as it delivered superb technicalities and an almost flat sound profile that maintained a level of engagement by not sounding too clinical and dry. i got mine last week. only downside is the battery life.
In which way? More information would be helpful
@faithless1706 it has a short battery life compared to other portable devices. But I'll gladly have a battery pack with me if I'm I need of music for longer than 5 hours. Because the sound quality and MREB settings makes this an awesome device with the options to tailor the sound to your liking :)
Hey, if I use this as bluetooth reciver does it sound better than BTR7? And in bluetooth reciving mode does battery life remain same?
I'm really not a bluetooth aficionado. I only tried bluetooth outgoing. Not receiving. I didn't notice a significant loss in battery life though when using Bluetooth.
Hi! Would you think this or the Mojo 2 for portable IEMs? I know the question sounds weird because one is a Dac/Amp and the other is a Dap, but sound quality wise, what would be your pick? 😊 thanks anyone for the response.
I've never tried mojo 2. But i guess it will give more power and give you the full potential of your iEM. But, potability wise, this dap would win. No extra external connections.
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 Thank you for your help! I too am starting to get tired of the clunky connections, because I'm using a RU6 dongle and I want to upgrade. Sad to hear the Mojo 2 is still a better option that beats out this DAP sq wise. One more question, whenever you have the time to reply, how is the background noise/interference noise of this DAP when connected to a sensitive IEMs? Say the Campfire Andromeda, or Campfire Ara?
@@minhbu95 i have the ru6 as well. While it has a very small form factor, hooking up with a dap and still an extra connection, is sometimes another extra thing to think about. Plus there is the worry of making the usb port a bit loose. Floor noise with this dap is pretty low. Never heard any hiss. Take this with a grain of salt though. Im almost 40. And if you are younger, u might have a more sensitive ear than me.
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 Thank you for the reply. Not sure why UA-cam refuses to notify me. I do hear a lot of good things about the background noise/noise floor of this one, so I really want to learn more about it, because I use the Campfire Ara and CFA IEMs pick up hiss from almost everything, plugging the Ara into my ears first and then plug the jack into the RU6 (connected to my Desktop PC) and I can immediately feel the change of atmosphere (almost like a change in air pressure when you fly on a plane). I know you can use a dongle with a DAP but I'm not sure why someone would do that. I was planning on moving to a DAP to get rid of the phone-dongle combo, and mostly to find a source that is self-powered and doesn't produce any hiss. I once had the chance to listen to a Monarch MkII, plugged into a DX320-Cayin C9 combo and boy, that was an amazing experience. It has a pitch black background and I would not understand what a pitch-back background is until I experience it myself. Hopefully I can find 90% of that experience again with this DAP 🤣🤣 Thank you for your response, you've earned a humble sub.
How much battery backup are you getting ?(heaed it got better with updates) And how long does it take to charge up. I'm planing to buy this along with dunu sa6 mkii and i own as of rn letshuoer S12 pro and aful performer 5 , none with them especially the s12p wont have any major issues with the treble section right? Or will it get more emphasized and blast my ears?💀
Using it for about a week now. I would say the playtime is about 8-9 hours for me with A/B amp mode (A mode for a short while sometimes), using with a mixed of 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports. This is with wifi off and listening to downloaded songs on Apple Music. The charging time is close to 2 hours, I usually charge when it is left with like 10+% and charged it to 90%.
@@CoffeeXmusicIs an iPhone charger (20w) suitable to charge the Hiby r6 pro II?
Would you say this is much better than your M15 dongle ?
In terms of convenience yes a dap will be the practical choice than a dongle. In terms of sound, the r6 pro ii and m15 are very close. The m15 has more driving power and cleaner while the r6 pro ii portrays more engagement and has a more appealing sound. It connects me to my music than the m15.
I really enjoyed your review, your emotive delivery pleasantly kept my attention and wanting to hear more and more. I found your information highly believable and sensible.. Bravo Bravo
Oh why thank you dear sir!
They look somehow cheap, Mest II are much more interestingly decorated.
Somehow i agree. The design ok the mk2 had more appeal to me. Nonetheless these are not that bad in terms of looks.
yea they are looking worse, that gold frame instead of looking good it makes it looks like cheap chinese toy
What's the background track? I like that type of music..
Eyy Luke Chiang enjoyer as well
I love his chill vibe music. 😉
Hi, how's the standby battery life? If you don't use it for a day how much does the battery drain? Let's say the battery is 80% before sleep, then when you wake up next morning would the battery percentage be any different?
If i remember correctly, it only goes down like 5%. That is without wifi. If you have apps running in the background it could be more. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the wonderful and detailed review for the Studio 4, I got these on my radar and will probably get these whenever I have the budget to afford it, I just wanted to ask your opinion For cheaper which other iem/s would you recommend for the same use case? (music production, mixing, mastering, music listening) Also what cable are you using in the video? The mic quality sounds nice and was wondering if it sounds nice out of the box or did you improve on it in post
Thanks for watching! Ok, without second thought, for the same purpose, I'd go with Kinera Idun Golden. Served me good in monitoring, recording, and reference. About the mic and cable, i was using the Gramr cable from kinera. All stock setup. No post edits or enhancements. Sound clean right? 😎👌
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 Other than the Kinera Idun Golden, which other iems would you recommend coulde be cheaper or more expensive
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 Other than the Kinera Idun Golden, which other iems would you recommend coulde be cheaper or more expensive
@@roviccastillo9087 more expensive than kinera idun: 1. Bqeyz winter - warm and very natural DD driver with bone conduction 2. Tangzu Heyday if you dig planars 3. Dunu Sa6 mkii if you love mids Cheaper than Kinera Idun: 1. Simgot ea500 - bright sound, impressive technicalities 2. Dunu Titan S - balanced sound with commendable technicalities

Thanks for watching!!!
nice and comprehensive review man...wondering if it is too far ahead of studio 4 or difference is subtle?
The most significant difference i must say is in the separation, imaging, and overall soundstage. A difference of 10-15% being mkiii better. The ultra high frequencies too are much more emphasized with mkiii opening a lot of micro details. The Est drivers are really a feat in the mkiii. Not to mention the bone conduction that gives the lows a realistic rumble that can be felt and not just heard. Thanks for watching and the support!!
imo small, le jardin just imitates headphone better, which prob smth you dont need, but really wow
much love from Indonesia ❤
Likewise dear friend. 😎
Sax ain’t brass bro! Woodwind 👌🏼👌🏼
Now that u mention it, sax is indeed a reed instrument. I was just generalising the basic 3 pc brass section. 😊

@@davidcoons89 well, you have made a good point after all. And it gives me joy when someone knows their instrument categories. 😉
thanks for the sincere review. "Never-ending rabbit hole"👍👍
I'm very much happy when you guys feel my sincerity in my videos. It's what matters most for me. And yes... It is a never ending rabbit hole. 😆
Is there anything this does better than the MEST mk3?
Imaging is on par with mkiii. Separation is also on par. Timbre is better with these than the mkiii. To me they sound more natural and tonally more correct.
Unique Melody products speaks for themselves. I've tested the Mest MK.II and Mason Fu Sang. Fu Sang is now my top favourite IEM of all time.
what are the highlights of Fu Sang and which other TOTL, if any, did you prefer it over?
@@Viewer13128 Clean, beautifully done neutral sounding, superb details, that rumbly sub bass from Bone Conduction driver that gives me a unique perspective. VE Erlkonig was supposed to be my favourite TOTL but now it was displaced by Fu Sang. I compare to other TOTL sets like EE Odin, LETSHUOER Cadenza 12, some Flagship FitEars, Softears flagships and Noble Audio Khan Prestige.
@@zerstorerromero4629 Compare o bass dele com o do Mext e o do Sony IEr 1zr . Obrigado
@@fernandesfernandes5997 Sony Z1R's bass is more prominent and a bit boomy. Not a fan of its tuning though due to recessed and lean midrange.

4:36 I agree modular cables are much more convenient. Have you considered using 4.4mm to 3.5mm adapters instead of swapping the cable constantly?
Hmmm can you point me towards brands that is reliable for such adapters?
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 I have been using ddhifi adapters that converts 4.4mm to 3.5mm (Model: dj44c). They are of high quality and well built. They have released the 2023 version (dj44cpro) and is priced slightly more expensive.
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 same, I use ddhifi 4.4 to 3.5 for my mest indigo. sounds amazing with the right dac, even better than 4.4 on my desktop amp without the adapter (just depends on synergy with source). in fact, on my desktop amp, i have 3.5 to 6.35 and 2.5 to XLR adapters. do note that there are cheaper ones that ppl say sounds the same as ddhifi, but i haven't personally used those (though i don't doubt them). If you want to opt for a cable adapter (which means different cable material may or may not alter sound sig), I recommend the Venture Electronics Adapter Cable 4.4 to 3.5SE, and it's only $15.
@@Viewer13128 oh i see. Ddhifi. Their adapters are quite expensive. I'll check out the one from venture electronics. Thanks for the recommendations!!!
@@phd-audioreviews3922 thanks for stating the exact models! Added them to cart.
Hi, thanks for the video. I have my 3 years old MEST OG (MK1), and it is still rocking hard. Just the treble is very spicy to me, therefore pairing it with warm sources like IFi Go Bar and IFi Go Blu just prefect for me, still one of my favourite iem so far up to this moment. The MEST OG is also known for the incoherence in drivers, but I enjoyed it especially with Ochestra as the sound coming from various direction, while MEST MK2 has solve the incoherence issue and has better bass response with smoother not so spicy treble. Just wandering, what's the sonic/tuning/technical different between MK3 and OG? And is it a step up from MK2?
hmmmm let's see. The OG mest is known and commended for its soundstage. And a trusted friend commented that when he tried mkiii at singapore canjam, mkiii surpasses the mkii on technicalities. So far that's my info on comparisons between all mest variants. 😊
I have IER Z1R and MEST MK2 but never had a chance to try the MK1 (out of stock)- for me the MEST MK2 has better bass response, much bigger bass much stronger sub bass rumble too but soundstage is more 3D in the Z1R Getting MEST MK3 I hope they improve upon the MEST Indigo and have the same sub bass rumble
@@Global_Audio_Liberation the Z1R keeps popping. I wish i can get a listen to them. 😎
@@remedyofficialvlogs47 not that bassy and mids not that great I think you will love the FATfreq Mini more or the SE or the Grand! Those have better mids
Nice review, Studio 4 vs Variations, which one do you prefer for the sound?
Thanks for watching! Hmmm i haven't heard Variations yet. But i was quite interested getting one. But after a few vidoes that I've watched concerning Variations tuning, it is more of a Harman tuning. That i personally don't prefer. So to answe your question, I would pick Studio 4.
I'm a newbie and want buy my frist er,listen vocal, musical instrument china.Dunu saб and softears studio4 is the best choice?
The sa6 mk2 is coming my way. I will compare it to studio 4. I'll let you know once i get to listen to them.
Is it better than the Tangzu Heyday?
For me yes.. better technicalities and more resolving. The only thing Heyday has the upper hand is sound stage. Other than that, Studio 4 is the clear winner. 🏆

The B3 intrigues me. I hope I can at least try it. Thanks for watching!
Sweet.. 💕 Hoping to see your live gigs here po.
Hi, thanks for your honest review! Coming from earbuds I'm looking for a more 3D sound, I'd like to feel voices and instruments around my head rather than just left or right. Is this the right choice? I would pair it with my Hiby R3 Pro Saber 2022. It has a 2.5 balanced port too, will this be enough to improve the bass? I won't ditch my earbuds (I especially like my Senfer DT6 but the Blon BL-03 are still a nice pair of buds). I also have a pair of Koss PortaPro and Philips SHL3300, but headphones are not always handy or comfortable to use and I hope to get what I'm looking for, maybe with these DX6.
Questyle M15 or Cayin RU6?, I heard you sold the M15 and buy RU6 why?
I did not sell the m15. And my purchase of ru6 did not happen due to paypal issues. The m15 is very clean and resolving in details. Which is good. But it lacks soul and engagement. It puts me in critical listening mode rather than enjoying the music.
