Good information! As a beginner, what is the best way to get into buying a business or acquisitions? I am still working on increasing my income and improving my credit, but not sure if I should go SBA, brokering deals or what?

7% Profit Margins? And a business he’s going to have to turn around? It seems like the pain point here is that the owner is done and wants to retire. So much so that he told his sales manager to find greener grass. If an owner like this would want me to take care of this pain point. He would have to come way down on his valuation to no more than 2x free cash flow and finance this whole deal. Additionally, those “tax benefits” he’s talking about more than likely sound like a stock purchase, opening himself up to past, present and future liabilities. And finally, private equity does not just “lose” deals to the retail acquirer. They know exactly what they’re doing. That should be the first red flag. If you see this Jarad, know that I commend you for your work thus far, but know there’s better deals out there. One wrong move, you mismanage that 7% free cash flow you have to work with, and you’ll default on your debt.

Otherwise you’ve bought yourself a dead job, kinda like a bad wife you can’t get rid of that easy Haha

The business model is good as it is very flexible in how you receive your payments. Whether you want commissions or a share of revenue.

You get a slice of the profits(if that is how you agree to get paid) without having any direct risk involved in the outcome of the business.

You can build a lot of experience, as you do a lot more negotiations, than you would be doing if you were buying them for yourself.

I feel like it is interesting for me to learn as it is good for someone who wants to get into acquisitions but does not have enough capital upfront .

I feel like it is a good business model as it does require little to no money upfront. And you do build the skills necessary to become a adept negotiator

Hi, I'm 21 and an Aerospace Engineering Student, and I am getting into acquisitions. I currently own an events company in london. But I am preparing to acquire a buisness in various other sectors. I've had meetings with owners of an Engineering Consultancy Firm and a Gym, so far. And I have meetings scheduled over the next 3 days with owners of an elderly clothing company. Another apparel company and 2 womans beauty company. I feel like at times I do struggle with the meetings with the client. Do you have any advice for me when going into those meetings, to help better success. My deals are predominantly through seller finance and profit sharing.

So its like me owning a roofing and siding company, then i go buy a small home concrete business and a lawncare small business but i dont merge them together, i just keep them operating seperately(on their own)?

What about the Liabilities? Do I need to incorporate a new business entity to take over the business?

It would help if you had a "graphic" depiction of your map, including: where to find the data (Who is interested in selling their business) how do you find people who are looking to purchase a business. (Do you used internet ads, Facebook Groups, etc) In the 100 days senario you lay out, (since you have done this before and have a team of advisors) you will know the numbers regarding number of contacts required, number of phone calls, number of meetings, number of emails sent. Now, understanding that each individual is different and each vertical (niche) may have unique market variables, I am going to assume that you have data (you quoted income projections for the advisors) so you not doing this off the cuff. When time permits please advise.
