Awesome to see this on UA-cam. I just bought the same two row New Idea picker. I know I need parts included a roller two tires and those finger starfish looking things. So many of mine are broken off. You said your gonna order them for yours so I wanted to check with you and see if you found a good parts source ? Thank you.

I had that exact spreader. I pulled it with a AC D19. I was spreading from compost piles in the late summer early fall. I scooped it up in the spring into the compost piles from places where I had bale rings over the winter. 11:11 I used a Ford 7710 with Westindorf loader to pile it and load the spreader. It was a good spreader for what I needed.I ran around 120 beef cows. I miss those days.

Whenever you have a worn belt that slips like that, just go to the house and get some maple syrup and dab some on the working part of the belt. It'll get you by until you can purchase a new one.

We had an old Case hammermill bolted to the barn floor that ran off the belt pulley. We put ear corn on a flat rack so you just shoveled it in the mill. The pipe was set to blow the corn into a bin in the barns granary. The cows were down below the granary so we filled a feed cart by gravity for the cows. You may keep your eyes open for a good grinder mixer. I grind feed every weekend. It's much easier, and yes I still feed ear corn.

During the Cold/Winter months, I always take my spreader out and run it empty to make sure the apron moves, not frozen to the boards before I load it. 1 time hand emptying a full spreader is worth the time running it empty beforehand. Just a suggestion.

Mostly corn and a little winter rye, in the heavy ground that’s all it can handle and when I get to the headlands it’ll actually stop the tractor in place because it’s to much

Looks like a handy equipment setup. Glad to see the older equipment back in action! Not sure what corn seed you're using, but I switched to open pollinated since it has higher % protein. Reid's Yellow Dent has about 3x, Bloody Butcher about 4x, and Blue Hopi 5x what many of the commercial hybrid/gmo varieties have. A pig farmer I know saw 20% larger pig litters after switching to open pollinated corn. So add some to your test plans for next spring. Open Pollinated seed needs longer spacing (8-12in) vs hybrids with vertical leaves that can go to 6in spacing (I planted too close my first year with it). I use 30in rows and am experimenting with 15in this spring to increase population while giving more plant to plant space and weed control. Look up youtube presentations from Rick Clark and Erin Silva for how to use Winter Rye/Spring Oats for weed control.

Thanks for the video. Just bought my first Farmall a Super A Industrial. I was pushing it off of the trailer and noticed some play in the rear axles. There is about 1/8" side to side play. I don't know if someone has been in before and the "spacer" is missing or possibly the axle is worn and the bearing is moving on the axle, or perhaps the housing is worn and allowing the bearing and shaft to move. I guess all are an indication of a tractor with a lot of hours on it.
