I finally finished a race after having over heating issues for the past 3 races. This track was so rough it cracked my frame.

I smashed the sub button this again was a helpful video 🤙🏻
Really helpful video keep up the good work 💪🏻👍🏻Sir I just did a new krankshaft in my 1000 r XD-p 2016 and polished my valves deu to my compression was only 140 psi ? but can you please tell me how much psi your engine is pushing with the new honed cylinders and pistons and new valves did you tested it ? Please help me out if you can 🙏🏻
So i did recheck my compression after the first or second race (approx. 70 miles) and I gained about 20 psi per cylinder. I havent retested it since (approx. 400 miles) and I can tell that the rings have finally seated and it does feel like it has more power since that 2nd race. I think stock compression should be around 150 - 160 but don't quote me. I plan on testing it again soon along with readjusting my valve clearances.
@@RWF_Racing thank for taking the time to answer your a big help 👍🏻
Do you find that most frame cracks come from large impacts from trees, other quads, etc.. or are they happening from just running it hard for that long in a race? I’m curious if I need to gusset mine if I’m just trail riding with the occasional jumps here and there. Thanks!
My frame is cracking from the rough tracks. Videos don't really show actually how rough these tracks are and we are moving at a good clip. We pound the piss out of them for 2 hrs at a time. Compared to some other racers, I rarely hit trees. Hitting trees with the front tires will destroy the stock tie rods and a arms. It wouldn't hurt to sleeve the frame rails if your hitting some jumps. I have a stock renegade that I don't ride hard and haven't cracked the frame yet.
Hole shot again! Nice
Awesome video again buddy. Solid ride! Track had a little bit of everything. Glad you got the overheating sorted out. Looking fwd to that video.
That track wore me out! Even the fields were rough! Thanks for watching.
@@RWF_Racing yeah fields can be deceivingly rough for sure. Braking and acceleration bumps a foot high through out the whole field makes for long day compared to some days in the field sections you can just air it out loosen the grip and recoop before you head back into the woods.
Exactly! I try to catch my breath in the field sections but was hard to do at this track.
@@RWF_Racing I hear that! lol. You did good!
That was a hectic first 5 mins. Bottlenecks everywhere 😳
Glad those branches gave way…almost pulled a Justin 😂
Love your videos and choice of music! What do you guys think the cause of the over heating was? Combination of heat and mud? What year is your Renegade? That track looked awesome and you had a hell of a ride going until you had issues. I need to make a NYOA race next year.
Thanks man! My quad over heated this race from a clogged radiator. That one deep mud hole had some black nasty sludge that got up in the rad. I made some mods to help eliminate that from happening again. I need to do a video on it. My quad is a 2018 1000. IMO this is the best NYOA track, come up and give it a shot.
@@RWF_Racing your not the only one that has said that so maybe I can try and make it next year. If you don’t mind I’d like to ask ya a couple questions about your quad….what shocks do you run? Do you run factory brake setup or split brake setup? And what do you run for flat tire defense (spines, blocks, balls etc.)?
I have triple rate custom axis shocks, 2018 was the last year they had split brakes. I never use front brakes., I run tire spines in obor ripple tires.
@@RWF_Racing would you happen to have a link for the custom axis shocks? Can’t find them anywhere. I run Triple rate Derisi revalves now on my 2016 (converted to 2019+ suspension). I ask about the brake setup because I’m having an issue on the 2016 for the back brakes (left hand lever). Changed fluid and bleed it and it will lose pressure early on lap one and it comes and goes the whole race causing me to about kill myself lol. Any guesses? I bought a 2019 Renegade 1000 and just want to set them up the same. I also run spines but run the Kenda Havocs. What tire pressure do you run?
Penske racing makes axis shocks, have to look them up. I was gonna say burnt brake fluid but you changed it. Might be air in line, a leak somewhere, or the master cylinder is going out. I’ve been running 7psi in the front and 6psi in the rear but also depends on track conditions. If it’s muddy I drop it.
I like that billet t-stat housing.
Between getting held up with the dust and a slower rider holding my entire class up, I tried like hell to get around them and get gone. I should have let you by after seeing your view but in the moment it's hard to let the guys in front of you run away. My bad Dan.
No worries. I knew all you guys were battling each other. I should of got up on your rear bumper more. I need to get better at passing.
Most of the time I can't even hear you guys over my own exhaust so without looking back Idk how close you really are.
Do you happen to know of any company that makes a good set of nerf bars for these? I switched to a 4x4 this season from MX, and hadn't had any issue adjusting my riding style until a race a few weeks ago where a log in the trail caught my toe and twisted my leg around backwards, obviously breaking it.. I'm debating on making my own set that has a kind of raised perimeter to help with things like that getting into the foot well.
No one makes nerf bars for the renegades. I have seen some people retrofit some to fit though. One particular 4x4 racer that goes by J. Philips used to run nerf bars. You might be able to find pics of his quad on the web. That’s sucks that you broke your foot, heal up.
@RWF_Racing I found a set that XRW made for the gen 1 rengade, but don't seem to be compatible. I will keep looking, and thank you.
Hey great video man. I have a question for the Renegade. I have a 2023 Renegade 1000R and I am about to do my first tire change. My question is, why do all renegade riders keep the same size width tire front and back? I do have the XMR, but I do way more fast trail and cross country racing/ riding. I want to go with a lower profile tire, but an 11 in the rear and the 9 in the front. IS that a GNCC rule to have the same width tires or just personal preference. Thx bro
When we are racing through tight trails the skinny tires in the rear make the quad more maneuverable and able to fit through narrow trees. We are also running 4wd all the time. I don’t recommend skinnies in the rear if you run 2wd most of the time, there is limited traction with skinnies in 2wd. It’s not a GNCC rule. Also wide tires in the rear tend to push the quad in corners making it harder to steer and make tight turns. Thanks for watching. 🤙
Better luck next race day.
That sucks. I have heard of the upper Y fiting failing. Usually the hoses are clamped on very loose to where they leak. Then owners use hose clamps and tighten em down to where they crack or collapse. Someone USED to make a billit aluminum Y fitting. Cant seem to find them anymore. Im trying to fabricate them out of aluminum. Is it possible the lower Tee fitting was hit by a rock or something ?
It’s possible it was hit with a rock. The whole fitting was melted and disformed. I found a billet “y” fitting and that info will be in my next video (Changing tires with spines) at the very end. I found you have to keep tightening the clamps as you go through heat cycles to get them tight.
You going to upgrade the Ts to a better material?
@@atvmobyes I did. The info was in the next video after this one.
Like the videos, keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video on the repairs etc. Bummer with the coolant issue
Thank You! I'll get it fixed up for the race this weekend.
Does that shaft turn all the time or just when it's in 4wd.
It spins all the time since the front wheels are spinning but doesnt have drive power until the actuator engages the shaft.
My spring on my shift arm broke. Still have all my gears but have to shift by hand at the trans
Can’t a guy just flip that gear so the sharp edges are out
I thought of that also, but you can't. The gear is made to go one the splines one way, the spacing is different.
Very sportsman like performance! Way to go!
nice holeshot !! looked brutal . but fun
Glad you got my smooth move on video…
Lol, thanks for the thumbnail picture…..I’m glad you didn’t get hurt.
Wicked race
Looks ruff bet you guys had a good ol time! Lol
Roughest track I’ve ever been on. Glad I was on a 4x4. I like the mud but not super rough tracks, these thing suck in 2 foot whoops.
WOW, a lot of dead quads on the side of this race! Was the track that hard or was it just the first race of the year?
Hard to tell in the video but it was rough.
Awesome video! Good ride! I need to make a race up there. What’s one of the biggest turnout events and best tracks you recommend? I’d be coming from Ohio. What class you in? IIRC that series has a couple 4x4 classes?
Best tracks are Twisted Fence and Ditch Banger. NYOA only has 2 4x4 classes. If your somewhat fast then you would be in the 4x4 class, not the utility class. I consider myself as a top B, lower A rider.
good race but you need to be looking a head making the right choices to many times this has cost you places and a number 1 finish. And before you think i'm a troll I raced a suzuki gxr 750 on the track for years.
I’m not opposed to constructive criticism. I’ve ended the last 2 race season on crutches both years so I’m always thinking about that which hurts my speed. I hear what your saying though. Thanks for the comment.
@@RWF_Racing I understand what you’re saying but question comes down to is this for fun and it doesn’t matter where you place or Do you want to 🏆 WIN because if it’s to win you need to change that mind set. You don’t give away free positions in racing you make them earn it. A free win doesn’t count. I’m 53 and still have that fire to win and be driving Mach 2 with my hair on fire.
Love it! We literally race for no prizes, even if I get 1st, so it’s just for bragging rights. I’m friends with my fellow racers on and off the track so there’s no reason to send them into the trees just to gain a position. I enjoy the exercise, the preparation, and the relationships.
Maybe I’m better off not looking at mine😳😬
“I learned how to weld by watching UA-cam videos”😂🤙
Don’t let all my secrets out!
Very nice! I'll bring my motor over ! 😁
Its a good winter project....
I'm sure my compression is low !
I have no idea why UA-cam suggested this when I was watching videos of national parks lol. Ironically, I learned a ton and now interested in gears 😂.
Ha! That's funny! Well I guess you learned something new today.
Another great video! I like the new open!🤙
Helical cut and Spur cut(angled and straight)
Definitely writing down those numbers for the backlash setting. Ive had like 3 diffs eat themselves apart because of those stupid needle bearings.
I’ve destroyed 1 diff, but have caught 3 others before they self destruct.
@@RWF_Racing I've only had one grenade on me. Rebuilt a couple but was never sure what the backlash should be.
lol I clicked for the tech and i forgot when i was watching the race. Great riding>>>IF UR NOT FIRST UR LAST :)
Lol that’s funny right there!
Great video man, I want to try racing my Renegade at some point too thanks for sharing
Just got to get out there and do it!
Great video man!🤙
Do you have 2 different shocks sets? Or are they all custom axis just looked different from right and left sides
They are all triple rate custom axis. The decal keeps coming off the shock reservoir by the exhaust from the heat.
One of the most fun, private tracks I've seen. Nice win.
He puts alot of work into the event.
This is a really good video dudes good at editing
Thanks! I try to get just the action and cut out the boring parts.
Your welcome
The raptor that flips was mine I was wondering if anyone got it on video
On the rear camera? Didn’t look to bad of a get off.
No it wasn’t to bad overall just broke a few things
I’ve been watching your videos they are awesome. What class do you race in?
NYOA has only 2 4x4 classes. A beginners utility class and an Open 4x4 class. I race the Open, it’s the faster 4x4 guys, comparable to A and B class riiders.
@@RWF_Racing awesome. Looks like a blast! Have you raced a GNCC? If so what class do you in GNCC?
I would like to but haven’t done a GNCC race yet. I’d probably race the B class if I did.
Do you remove the front visco lock on the front diff?
Yes, my visco lok is removed.
I like how you showed two people racing.....awesome stuff. I would love to see how your machine is set up on both. Also, need a horn to help people know to pull off........Solid run
Thanks Man! I try to blip my throttle so they hear me behind them. A horn would be nice. Check out my other videos on how my quad is set up.
Next video consider getting rid of the music This was unwatchable because of the music for me
Thats unfortunate. Turn the volume down.
Great videos. I’ll be doing a frame up build on this quad for XC racing.
Thx man for this video now I do have a Better idea how my engine is made. I did watch the full video but I did not really need to but it was to much interesting. Thank you from Quebec 😄

where do you find a kit for the gen 2 habe been looking for one

Great video Gunz! Very informative!
WOW, certainly makes the quad more challenging to ride with no front drive! Great drive to finish where you did!
Yeah I can’t complain about my finish.
Hell of a race Guns! Man, when that thing stays together you ride the hell out of it! Can’t wait to see the next race.
