when “AI MAKES A PERFECT COPY OF DOOM THAT RESPONDS IN REAL TIME!!!” headlines first came out, i had the same question as i do now with this: if there weren’t already a completely 100% finished and polished game to steal, what is the possible use of something so specialized and simultaneously useless at that specialization? what would this type of clanker even theoretically do?? poorly copying visuals alone can’t one day magically lead to making useable games from scratch with AI. in every perspective i can possibly think to view it from, investing time and energy into something so inherently lazy just can’t work out positively for anyone involved
using ai like this completely takes out the inherent value of a video game. No real work has gone into it. Since it’s just a prompt, there’s no fine tuning it to one’s liking. In other words, we cooked if elon actually makes that ai game studio
