Songwriter Gene Woods was on a 1974 episode of ‘To Tell The Truth’, the TV show that inspired this song. Three of the four panelists correctly picked Gene as the real songwriter. One of the imposters was NFL football coach Buddy Ryan in his thinner, pre-famous days. The show is also memorable because Benny Daniels and The Fables performed the complete 3 verse song. LYRICS MATTER! The CC is wrong. The transcript is wrong. It ruins the jokes. And some of the lyrics given here are so wrong, I don't even know what the joke is, because they make no sense. The line is "The ice man has his PICK!" You know, as in ICE PICK. Get it? But no, this ice man's girlfriend is a PIG. Oh, well. Thanks for trying. I remember the song from my childhood, so I looked for it. I found it. Disappointed. 🐖

Well, I've heard the Ted Jones version and the Lulu Belle version but this is easily my favourite...and that instrumental 'b' side is excellent, too...and what a brilliant name for a band! Thank you for uploading this rarity and making it available to all of us.

This may had been her biggest sounding recording she did and right at the end this was where she kept people guessing did she kill him? We may never know the answer.

This song should've been a mega hit and in that period Country music went in diverse directions which back then you couldn't put your finger on what you would categorize Country Music well it more than 50 yhears to finally solved that mystery and today it is fully accepted no matter which genre it styles from peace out.

It sounds to me like the first two are Connie Eaton and the third one is LaWanda Lindsey.

I think youre right that the first two tracks is Connie Eaton. The T.S. next to the second and third track on the label mean Teresa Stamps. She's the songwriter of the tracks. Maybe she is the singer of the third track as well. On the left side they've noted which artist in the end cut a record version. I wonder why theyve noted Jack Logan next to the fourth track. He was just the engineer isnt it? Where did you find that tape? Its awesome, thanks for sharing!!!
