They’re not as gorgeous as arrows dipped and finished but they fly straight enough for me. I haven’t watched the whole video but I make mine the way he showed me.

I was looking for this comment and if it wasn't there I was going to put it myself. Only been in the sport under a year but your draw anchor+release makes a massive difference. Before my coach advised using a clicker I would end up going low, and then when I got tired I got lower and lower. With better form it is possible to be an absolute monster, a friend in my club has no clicker on his recurve, but one day he absolutely nailed his anchor and release timing/feeling and he shot from being slightly better than me struggling to do a 252 at 50 yards to getting a 252 at 60 yards on his first attempt and being very close to the top regular shooters in the club in terms of league shoots/indoor portsmouth rounds. He does this with a bog standard sight, no clicker, and 34lb limbs, and only a long rod. There was a bit of competition between us in scores and I thought I could edge him out and get ahead, but now he's inspired me by showing me just what can be done by people in our position if you just get your anchor point and consistency right. As such I'll probably not put the side rods I bought months ago until I can catch up to the people I admire. Not only the good shooters in the club, but people like him that I've shot with, and also a girl using the same riser as me, but she's a monster on the indoor portsmouth round at 20yds.

100% my form has been an issue for years now. It’s going to take a lot of discipline to change the bad shooting habits I’ve developed. That selfbow stacks on me too which doesn’t help things but it’s so much fun to shoot. Thanks for watching!

I saw this too. Only because it's something I've been focusing on myself in my own shooting recently. Well mentioned about back tension. It could be that the bow is slightly overpowered. It is for me. I can comfortably pull a 40/50lb bow for a full Portsmouth round with no problems. The moment I push up into the 55+lbs realm then I start to get lazy towards the end of the round. The bow here is a lovely shape and it seems to throw them really cleanly. Great vid for us all to learn from.

Hey Brett! What you’re seeing is the result of shortening my draw a bit, anchoring on my ocular bone. I moved it there with hopes to get off the string cleaner. Still a work in progress but a step in the right direction I think. As always, thanks for watching bro!

@@jonmullenax778 I wish! That was made by Tony Taul from Illinois. I started a couple hickory staves but never finished them. Tony is pretty much THE selfbow guy in the northeast. He’s incredible at making them and shooting them. Have you made any?

Hahaha thanks Len. The old place was just a rental we were at. Tried to buy it as is but the owner sold it to a bank for double what I could handle. Now it’s a good memory.

Oh and I didn't know Babe Zaharius had an archery range lol!
