Cheap 750w Angle Grinders. Screwfix Macallister vs Argos Guild
I unbox my new screwfix grinder and look at the design and exterior build quality in comparison to my existing Argos grinder.

Read the booklet dumb ass lol😂
Are you satisfied with the device? Does it overheat during long-term use? Is the engine powerful enough?
The Argos grinder is fine. It is not particularly powerful but it tolerates all forms of abuse. The McAlister is useless as described below.
Thank you

Why is it obligatory to 'ignore' instruction booklets? Perhaps there might have been information inside regarding the different guard depths.
Yes, I gather the deeper guard is for cutting rather than grinding. It affords more protection if a cutting disc shatters. Reading the instruction booklet may help in avoiding injury. On the subject of guards, to the best of my knowledge all grinder manufacturers use the cut out system for the fitting of guards on the grinder. I presume it is a safety feature.
@@ericreckless541 It may afford more protection but the primary reason is simply that grinding and flap wheel discs require more space than the thinner cutting discs.
@@bayadere8308 In the video you will see that one of the guards is covered on both sides leaving only a segment open : this will be suitable for cutting but of limited, if any use when grinding. The other guard is covered on one side only so it will be suited to grinding but would not offer as much protection if a cutting disc shattered.
I need to do a follow-up. The Macallister is useless on an extension lead. Very slow and prone to shutting off. Also the shield keeps coming loose which is dangerous.
Cheers Please let us know how is Mac Allister grinder doing
