The whole beans outgas too, but slower - try sticking the snout of your detector into a freshly-opened bag.

I found the solution There is a papir inside the fan that is going around 360 degress so you better open it and clean the dust and remove all the papir stickers inside the pc and it should wor!

It seems like you need to replace the fan. Easy fix. Just take all the screws from the back case out and you'll see the fan mounted on a copper cooling sink. the whole assembly is attached to the CPU through 4 screws. once you take those out, you can detach the sink with the fan and from there it's pretty self explanatory..the new fan should match the size of the old one. It shouldn't be more than $7-$10 on ebay.Good luck and don't forget to take the battery out and to disconect the power cord.

@keios666 Call 1-888-476-6972 and if your computer is still within the warranty period (maybe one to two years?), they will fix it free of charge. They sent some repair guy to our house to fix it and it has been fine since then. I hope you are able to get yours fixed. I remember that that was quite annoying.

i had that issue unfortunately there is no sony dealers in my country. fix it or the sound will get worse just like mine. now its like a metal and metal grinding noise.

i called 1866 757 7669 about my sony laptop VGNCS290 model and they said the fan and the lcd had been recalled .for repair to call 1888 476 6972 ofcourse free of charge.i will call first thing tom morning bec im getting tired of this grinding sound.lawn mower sound and if im talking with someone thru web they think it sound like a vibrator!!!!it was very annoying!!!!!cant wait till until they fix it!!!!Thanks for all your comments Guys i been having this problem for months:(

Having the same problem, but i am in Kazakhstan, I may have issues getting this fixed, but i will see what I can do. regardless i still love Sony computers. Mine is a Vaio CS.

i wish i saw this video before, mine started to make this same noise and i had the fan changed for 250 Us (because I had to order it from Dubai ), however shortly after the change the noise still continues, I hate this shit it annoys me...

Some cicadas come out every year. They are called Dogday Harvestfly Cicadas. I believe this is one of them. Just to let all of the bug haters know, they do not even eat once they are in this phase of their lives. They just mate, lay eggs, and die.
