Marvelous! An historic line in its own right!
will it ever come back up to yorkshire?, it was the only o gauge show close enough for me to get to
Lovely garden and a nice LMS train. Handsome locomotive and coaches.
Bury Thorne & Sons will, hopefully, be at the Nomads 2025 show in Southport - a fine example of 7mm modelling carrying the GOG flag.
Thanks for the reminder of a great show. I like the opening sequence entering the show. I did not realise the sun rose in winter in Wigan as I arrived at the show before 08:00 and lift after 17:00. Many thanks to all the events team
Some very nice video. Thank you.
Work progressing well on Kirkby Bank very impressive to follow. Glad I'm not the only untidy modeller
Thank you John. Superb. Best to all. Carol and Kev.
I’ve only just started in O gauge and was really looking forward to this video as i’ve never built a wagon before. As others have said, the sound is very poor and i can’t make out what is being said. Would it be possible to redo the video at home or somewhere where there is no background noise and the mic is within 5 feet ?? Also, some good close up video work so we can see what is being done, that would be great 👍
I'm afraid we had a number of technical issues with the seminar recordings this year. I will see what can be done, but in the meantime there may be another video that meets your needs. I will see what there is available, and send you the link if I find anything.
I tried running the audio through a noise cancelling piece of software that I use without any success. I have asked around, and made a few suggestions; there is every likelihood that there will be an Evening with video on this subject sometime next year (sorry, but no particular consolation). There are almost 800 videos available (the extras are only available to members) and NONE feature anything suitable for an absolute beginner. So, with that in mind, I will make a video for the Virtual Show (February 2025) suitable for an absolute beginner on making a wagon kit. Sorry I can't make it any sooner...
Very nice work mister. That track looks great.
Thank you for this informative video. Can you please tell me where you got the belt sander from? Thanks again. Regards Les
Phil got the belt sander from AliExpress. Sorry for the delay replying...
@@TheGaugeOGuild Very helpful. Thank you very much for the info.
We railway modellers should watch how our colleagues in other disciplines undertake painting and weathering. There are many new products and techniques available since the "Art of Weathering" was written.
Useful, informative video, especially as the demonstrator hadn't been doing it long. Well done GOG👍✌️💜😊
Enjoyable and informative watch Phil. I am using similar methods for OO-SF trackwork. Slowly moving into 3d printing and laser cutting but must admit, finescale O gauge is very tempting. Cheers, James
you need to film the screen otherwise it is a waste of time
It was intended to record the overhead view, but the GoPro malfunctioned on the day (actually the special HDMI cable required didn't work). The alternative camera used does not have the capability to do both, so we were unable to record the extra views.
you really need to give these presenters a microphone gave up after 5 mins couldn't hear very well !
Normally, the speakers at the seminars are provided with an augmented sound capability, which is my personal system. This year the system was in use elsewhere, so it will be arranged that a second set will be available for seminars next year. We will also have the capability of directly recording the sound from this rather than use a camera microphone.
sadly having difficulty hearing some of the commentary.seems to be a lot of bacground noise like its pouring with rain outside.also a bit echoey.
Hi Paul, There was a heavy rain shower going on at the time unfortunately, pelting down on the metal roof.
Interesting video👍✌️💜😊 It is true to say with airbrushes that "you spends yer money and makes yer choice", Im also mindful that quality is remembered long after price is forgotten too. Some cheap CCP airbrushes can be VERY off putting to clean, to stop from clogging (when using acrylics) - especially for the beginner. Harder & Steenbeck do some great, easy to live with, budget air brushes (their 2024 "Ultra" is a very user friendly starter airbrush, their mid/top range 2024 "Evolution" is also superb and their top flight 2024 "Infinity" is still more cost effective and as good as or better than, a top flight Iwata, the spares are cheaper too, more robust, easier to handle). The two Chinese brands worth looking at are; NEOECO or Gaahleri, if the one chooses carefully from their ranges that is. For a compressor a 20psi non pulse diaphragm set up from Oasser (often comes with a half decent airbrush) is a cheap starting point. But let us not forget old warhorses such as the Paasche H or Paasche Millennium airbrushes (albeit not as easy to live with as Harder and Steenbeck airbrushes). The best compressors are those with a receiver tank, psi gauge/adjuster and moisture trap. Dont forget clean air and lungs, a mask and/or a small spray booth too. I hope that helps those new to weathering and painting, let us also not forget that brushes, powders, sponges and rattle cans can also achieve superb weathering results. However an airbrush with modern acrylics and thinner/retarder can be used, with a spray booth, all year round, indoors, especially at sub 20psi pressures.
Just found this video, like the other comment said not much train related fusion content. But thanks for saving me from needing a set of Archer rivet decals.
Beautiful layout
Did the Bo'ness team not insure?
Where are the youngsters to keep the hobby going?
how about 1:59 the look on the boy's face when he observes steam coming out of the chimney 🤪
It was an excellent show and this is a wonderful reminder of two days spent in Stafford.
Thank you Dave. It was nice to see again you however briefly! (Peter)
Very nice little layout, industrial shunting, my favourite model railway theme. And guess this layout illustrates rather well that even in O Guage, you can have a realistic/interesting layout, even in a relatively small space.
This is now 're-imagined' as Melbourne Street Brewery - see ua-cam.com/video/tEGN8ud2PFA/v-deo.html
Another fascinating layout and video👍💜✌️😊
Very nice indeed😊👍
My only feedback is think your collary loco 'King George' may requires a better motor. I see a lot 'cogging' of the loco in the video
Great film, nice layout. So nice to not have the annoying electric DCC sounds etc...
A nice little running session and a nice layout that is very well built. Have you thought about DCC with sound ? I have done all my locomotives and what a difference it makes. Unfortunately I can’t make Guildex this year. Regards from Ron 🚂👍🚂
Well done! 👍👍
I now have all my locomotives with DCC Sound fitted. But B 4 that I used Railway cassettes/ CDs as a background sound with my layout. Anything really would be better than this ! Of course one can turn the music OFF, yes.
Agree, the music spoils it. Comment from PICTON, South Island NZ.
Enjoyable session, thanks 👍👍👍
Terrific video, and an impressive railroad. What make is the 8F - 48326, is it a kit or one of the Finescale Brass engines?
I like the coaling point. Is this freelance or based on somewhere? I dont recall having seen any pictures of such an arrangement. 👍👍👍
Interesting. First time I've seen this layout. Liked the general look of a working town. I wonder how many other ladies have yet to be honoured, lol 🤣. 👍👍👍👍
Lovely video but music got on my nerves!
Well done! 👍👍
A nice looking layout with some nice running stock, pity about the music. I am 79 and I have converted all my O gauge stock to DCC sound and what a difference it makes, I know it is quite expensive but what a difference it makes. Try it ! Regards from Ron a GOG member.👍🚂
Music is on this video because Stephen sent it to me like that. He has only just started making these videos, and 'finding his way' somewhat. However, to make the video consistent - it is made up from two separate submissions - I added music from PowerDirector to the second part. I don't often do this, but it would have been strange for it to completely stop half way through.
Well done! 👍👍
Great operations. Hi from NZ, regards Bernie
An unknown railway for me, so giving it exposure on YT is a good thing. I would like to have a bit more information on it. What track gauge? Did it serve the paper mill? Looking on street view it certainly needs more attention as the state of the concrete viaduct looks very bad and could possibly being closed for train traffic if it deteriorates further. Next time I be in Kent worth a visit I think.
It used to serve the paper mill and the line in use now used to go to Sittingbourne station, plus the works in town (no longer there). It also used to go further north. Gauge is 2'6".
The concrete viaduct is Grade 2 listed, but as you say, is in a poor state.
Very nice
John, I suspected as much, but it was a bit sad to see it a bit 'down at heel'. It deserves wider exposure, and people should go.
Nice video. There is very little on the S&KLR that the Bowater group of St Neots MRC haven't crawled over and measured
😀
Is the Garratt built from a kit?
I think it is. I can't remember what kit is is though.
Really refreshing not to have a tinny DCC sound track over the top. When is a longer video coming?
Hello. Interesting video thanks. There's not very many fusion 360 railway specific videos out there
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. Only one tiny point, the captions flash up too briefly for me. But truly great modelling and so evocative.
Yes, sorry about that. The clips were quite short, so it was a question of getting them 'in and out' during the clip. I might have another video coming soon.
