Not really, it has no dedicated GPU only the integrated one, so it has to be a really old game or someting with a super low resolution. What games would you play?

It really depends on what you are actually doing with the laptop. Are you going to travel with the laptop daily? Are you looking for a 14, 15 , 16” laptop. Does a long battery life important or you need a high performance laptop? Do you need some for just browsing and YT-movies or you are going to play games on it?

I also have same laptop. U can use a cooler or lay down in couch or something and put the laptop in lap and on the fan it will not heat a single bit

The only place so far I found the celeron completely usable is a Chromebook or a firewall appliance like pfsense.

I think it was an all day battery , I only use the browser and outlook, lasted 8-10 hours easily. Now it lasts for about 2 hours. Not worth getting a new battery since the laptop only worth about $100 at this point.

Hello, You can’t upgrade the video card in these. I would not buy it for anything graphics related application, they are excellent for browsing and data entry, offline applications but that’s pretty much it. Even Autocad 2D requires a dedicated video cards with least 2GB of video memory, but recommends 8Gb, of course it depends on how complex projects are you running. You should have some dedicated graphics card.

It’s pretty much the same thing but the 3520 has a newer and faster CPU. They usually work great if you not travel with them daily. $700 sounds like a lot to me, the brand-new 3550 version starts at $729 right now. Give me as many details as you can. What size monitor/ resolution are you playing with? Are you thinking about getting a custom build pc versus an OEM Pc like this Dell XPS. Are you thinking about a gaming laptop vs gaming desktop? Are you aware of the potential Intel cpu failure issue? Are you open to go with an AMD CPU?

Hey, The HP is a significantly better machine, I would get that, especially if it costs similar to this Vostro. (Check Best Buy) If the HP comes with 8 GB of ram, I would double that , this laptop has two memory slots, both removal/upgradable.

No worries, I actually think that they are pretty good as well. It usually comes down , what kind of specs are available, what’s on sale and how good is the warranty and support behind the machine. If you are getting an LOQ make sure you get one which has an IGP beside the dedicated graphics card.

Good choice, it’s a significantly better machine, I would also look at the HP elitebook 660 G11 against the Latitude 5000. Sometimes those are on sale , truly customizable, I like those a lot as well. Let me know if you have any questions regards of configuration or anything else!

I am not familiar with Autocad just looking at the system requirements. Based on that you need a laptop with dedicated video card with minimum 2 GB of ram and recommended 8 GB. This laptop has none.They also recommend to have 32 GB of ram. I would look for a cheap-on sale gaming laptop around or $500 or ask someone who is using the software already about recommended hardware.

We have some of these in a business environment where they are running 8 hours a day 5 days a week. We have no issues with overheating however we only use them for email, browsing and office 365 applications and they are great for that as long as you not traveling with it and stays on a top of a desk or other hard surfaces.

It’s a usable machine for email, browsing, and office 365 applications . It will be fine if you use this on a desk or other solid surface but it’s not going to hold up if you're traveling with it every day. It’s not going handle intensive graphics / games / photo or video editing software. It really depends on what you’re going to with the laptop.

I am sorry that it happened to you. I listed the CPU for $550 with the best offer option on Ebay. Not sure if you are inside or outside of the US, but every few days BestBuy and Microcenter has a"sale" for the 14900K for $499 with free shipping. Adding salt to the injury, the Intel official store is also selling CPU`s on Amazon. The 14900KF is $442.00 and the 14900K was $462 before it was sold out. In the matter of minutes, I had a $500 offer for the CPU on eBay which I took. With shipping and eBay fees deducted I ended up with $430. I am sure as the new Ultra family comes to the market soon, this current $462 will further plummet.

I do live in the U.S I may be doing the same then would rather they offer me a refund but I may sell it and just do amd really disappointed it’s like I made a bad decision for my first build and for months I thought I was the problem but it was just simply the cpu was unstable. Bios fixed it for a little while but I think my cpu was already degraded from the power issues from the many months before

Intel also just came out with a new microcode a couple days ago once the CPU is having issues, bios update won`t do much its already defected. It wasn’t a bad decision it was just unlucky; people were having issues with AMD CPU’s as well. It happens ☹

@@Scott.The.IT.Guy.So I wanted to update you with my experience. Intel basically did exactly what you said I just had to fill in all the info and they asked what power mode I was on and bios. They asked me to cmos reset and run everything default and turn turbo off to see if it would run stable then…. It did for a little bit and then did not. After that they started the rma and I got the label very quickly like the same day they started the rma. I sent it in and right now they sent me a email that my new cpu is on the way and be here Monday. Pretty easy process and it will be getting sold as well! Just sad I may be a amd guy for a long time after this experience with this cpu I dealt with it for almost 12 months and now 7 7800x3d is running so much smoother and this is perfect since I mainly game and don’t need all those cores or treads the 14900k had to offer. To be honest they are close. Bet the one which is more affordable or has a better warranty option. If you travel a lot you might need to look for a 14” because they are smaller, lighter, they will last longer. You might also want to look the Inspiron 3520 instead a Vostro 3520 if you dont need a long battery life, they are the same thing, but the Vostro has a bigger battery but it also cost more.

Dell XPS 14" would be something similar, but I cannot recommend that. The keyboard is not good at all, regards of key placement and the touch only top function row(F1-F12) is absolutely horrible. Everything is integrated, even the Wi-Fi card. Only the SSD is replaceable, but you have to reinstall windows from scratch or clone the m2 with some external adapter since we only have on SSD slot. I don’t like the seamless touchpad either. If you go with RTX 4060, the performance is low. Even after a huge price drop on the XPS 14" the Asus ZenBook and the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 ( if you need a GPU) are better and more affordable as well.

Thanks! I am no longer worried about the hot air hitting the screen. I just reviewed a Dell Vostro 3520 from one of my business clients. That laptop is almost exactly the same as this. They have multiple of those laptops running 8 hours a day, five days a week and no issues with the screen. You are right about the battery! “In the email that Intel sent me, they asked me to write the case number on the outside of the box and enclose a copy of that particular email” Make sure you do both! Put the copy of these emails where you see the information on your old CPU in the box(product ID and serial number), so they can quickly verify it when the open the box. Also make sure you put the case number on the box as well as they said. Do you have the prepaid shipping label? Make sure you only use the prepaid UPS shipping label they sent you! Also make sure you pack the CPU well, nothing else needed from my end.

They are all different, the 840 is 14” the 1030 is a convertible laptop where the 830 is 13.3”. I would get whichever has a newer cpu a better battery and more ram. What is your budget and where are you located?

Thank you for your feedback! I am 100% sure that as soon as they receive your cpu they will check the serial number on it and just throw it in a recycle bin. Pretty sure no test will be performed, they are overwhelmed just with the replacement process. At the beginning they were require people to reinstall windows, replace motherboard and all kinds of stuff, that is all gone as well.

The last AMD I had was an Athlon XP. I am just more familiar with Intel. We managed over 1200+computers at work for business customers and they all Intel based . I am really wondering how those are going to work out since a bunch of them has affected CPU’s.
