I put the cleaner in the system via the MagnaClean. Left it for a week then drained and flushed it thoroughly. I then added added MC1+ Protector.

I'm going to go ahead and say this is far more work than just doing it properly and getting under the van 😂

How can the manufacturer not inform us how long to leave the cleaner in the system? But I would think a few days is acceptable

Mc3 is 7 days and mc3+ is 4 weeks to leave in before drain or flush.Then after the drain or flush and refilled etc you will add mc1+ .

was that the tai 2.5 t4 you had oil leak from cooler .steve

You could have just drained 1 radiator rather than draining down the whole system!

I just bought a set of four of these off eBay for £88 plus postage, im fitting them to my old mans rather tidy panel van, with a plan to make it a decent kombi van for my family, just before i fit them I'd be really interested to know if volkswagen fitted spreader plates underneath the chassis to reduce the chance of the studs pulling through in the event of an accident, or whether the chunky nuts and 15mm washers were enough on their own.

Did the seal replacement but still leak. You said you flattened the gasket area before putting the new one. What did you use? My oil cooler is a bit worn so my guess it that this prevent the seal to work properly... Thanks!
