Umlaut is a European music collective born 2004 in Stockholm, and currently based in Berlin and Paris.
“Transformation of sound” is our motto and we gather people around this idea, releasing albums, setting up shows, discovering new exciting artists and playing music together. Umlaut has released more than 30 albums and set up international festivals since 2009. We believe in spreading a music that is too rarely shared and discovered ; at the same time we’re strongly convinced in the principle of undividing contemporary musical practices and getting rid of restrictive labels.
This leads us to defend improvised music and contemporary composers as well as traditional Polish singing, deconstructed Bebop, free jazz, swing or solo artistic performances, over the course of the many discovers, interesting meetings and new connections we make day after day.
