Bass exercises and a bit of improv :)
A few exercises around G to start, then a bit of messing about with the effects unit :)
The spangly visual stuff came about by fannying around with the camera. If they put as much effort into the camera/phone as they do into weird effects, it would be awesome, but they don't so it's not (Sony X1 or something).
At 432htz btw

Firstly, apologies for the quality of the transfer, its an old tape and a bit crinkly! (I could prob do with a new pc to) Its irritating, but far from unwatchable Which is good because 92 was an excellent season, prob one of the most memorable ever, certainly for me. Close racing, plenty of incident, some excellent quotes from Murray, all building to the climax im sure were all familiar with :)...

The first season of the single class, 2 litre formula. Personally I miss the RS500s but it does bring parity and make for some excellent racing. Round 15 Silverstone

I really enjoyed seeing this kind of racing. Very similar cars, but so very different due to transmissions, engine placement and rwd vs fwd.. Made for some truly inspired driving, and for some madness too
John cleland why am i getting a black and orange flag Cos ye cannae drive john and ye have gone and killed another cavalier
R.I.P Will Hoy, David Leslie, Keith O'Dor and the legendary Murray Walker.
JC drove that Cav like every single sales rep did.
"i should have learned." "but were not giving up" - 2 quotes that sum up why cleland was my favourite btcc driver. also the fact that my dad had a cavalier gsi in the mid 90s when i was a kid helped me pick my allegiances. but this video reminds me of why the supertouring era was one of my favourite categories of racing. elbows out, super competitive racing in cars that looked almost identical to normal roadgoing saloons, with the legendary murray walker commentating.
murray walker perfect on every call.
Anyone notice Hoy sucking on an oxygen mask at the end of the first race? Anyone know the story behind that?
16:30 O'dor was pushed on to the grass by Chris Nissen
This is hands down one of the best BTCC seasons ever
Real Racing
This is full of legends
Steve Soper. Basically God.
5:47 OMG
20:40 I can't help but think team orders would have secured John Cleland the title in '92. I know it was early in the year, but in such a competitive year and with John ahead in the points, a few low place finishes cost him dearly.
19:52 that Vauxhall had some serious grunt
But then the BMW flexed its ABS braking immediately after!
I love how the DNFs are just strewn around the track just off the racing line 😀!!
0:47 that's an authoritive moustache.
Anyone sharing a btcc race from the early 90s is doing gods work. Thank you so much!
15:31 holy shit that caught me by surprise
Was the oil flag not waved at the crash scene? That could have ended much worse than it did.
The drivers weren't allowed to change to wet-weather tires when it started to rain?
Great series of uploads of one the best BTCC seasons of the 1990s. Obviously the Season Reviews are edited down versions of the highlights that were shown on Grandstand. At the Pembrey round, Allam is shown being waved past Cleland, but just before John pulls into the pitlane, he's ahead again! This is because they edited out the bit where Jeff gets very sideways around the back of the circuit and loses the place again. The best bit that wasn't shown was when Cleland's engine blows and his first reaction is "it's now rubber ducked!"
“‘You’re ahead and I’m second to you!’ says Keith O’Dor!” - LMAO! 😂
14:14 John Cleland giving an interview during a race? What a badass.
Why is Mike asking bout the pace lap when surely he'd know regardless if he was on the front row or not lol
I wonder if Tim Sugden was any relation to the actress Mollie Sugden, who was best known for playing Mrs Slocombe in Are you being Served?
Great stuff, what was the new chicane built for at Oulton Park?
Sorry about delay replying! Aye the chicane is a bit of a nerf, think it's for the bikes really, too help overtaking and that corner is well far with very little run off. The cars should take the bend though, especially if they use the island chicane /hairpin
In 1991 Paul Warwick(brother of ex F1 driver Derek) had a fatal crash at Knickerbrook during a F3000 race is it was decided to built a chicane there to slow the cars down although until at least 2004 motorcycles bypassed the chicane
What is the music called? Please let me know. Thank you.
Sorry I honestly can't tell you anything about the music, theres no creditation on the box or tape! It's a 'sports seen' video, SSV 322, maybe it's on archive somewhere. Other than that, no idea sorry. It is a pretty cool tune
ua-cam.com/video/xWILOWjbfJw/v-deo.html was used in numerous review videos around the early 90s, this one’s from the f1 94 vid
good god this is exciting. seeing such old cars racing in their prime is amazing
14:11 In-car interview during the actual race ... don't see that much in BTCC, although Cleland ended up always matching his doggedly competitive driving with sharp-tongued interviews over the years, and frequently got the screen time as a result. (Plato, similarly, later on.) Vauxhall incredibly reliable underneath Cleland, too. Years and years, he was just there. I always loved the fact that the Cavalier looked so uncomplicated. No spoiler, no problem.
Thanks for uploading these, I was at Outlon in '92, great memories! I was on the start/finish straight so had no idea what happened to Cleland on lap 1 at the time!
That collision at Brands between Rouse and Hoy was the beginning of the end for Toyota's chances in '92. If luck had gone his way a bit more I reckon Rouse could've taken the championship this year, or at least got closer.
'Rouses body language says rage and fury', iconic stuff I agree, it was a close championship and the accident cost them massive points, specially the constructors which I think Andy would want most. I doubt Hoy and Rouse talked much after that
It cost Hoy more; Hoy went into the final race with a good chance of the title. Overshadowed by the Soper/Cleland crash, what a lot of people don't remember is that Hoy led the championship for most of that final race until the final few laps when Harvey deliberately ran him off the road. Had Hoy not been run off the road, he would have won the 1992 title and of course, had he not DNFed here he would have had it wrapped up sooner.
Mike "Bloody" Smith - Graham Goode.
Mike Smith, always involved, never to blame!
I'm kind of enjoying the VHS quality. It makes this video feel like even more of a time machine!
John Cleland was always a treasure to watch! :D
jc was my favourite supertouring driver, just ahead of alain menu.
7:26 - it ain't the crash that did his neck, its was that hair cut. O my days!
Was Tim Sugden even penalised for that shunting, both of Rob Gravett (Peugeot) and later of Keith O'Dor (Nissan)?
1991 is not a good season for robb gravett in the trackstar Sierra but second is fantastic result at brands hatch Indy circuit
Tim sugden and Steve soper shared the car 44 at bmw because Steve soper dropped out a few races because he was racing in the German touring car championship
Considering that, Soper did a great job to finish as high as 4th overall didn't he and with as many wins as the top 3 guys too🙂 I recall Cleland actually praising Steve after being held out wide at the Complex in the last round to let Hoy past, where it was done so cleanly. Quite ironic given what happened between them at Silverstone the following year! Great they're good friends again now though.
3:38 that’s not will hoy going off that was ray bellm hoys teammate he went straight on hoy was still on the track
Colin McRae scored his first and only point in the btcc 1992
This was Colin McRaes first appearance in btcc before going back to rallying
It was his only appearance
Yeah
Big roll for David Leslie on round 10 knockhill
Cleland not happy about being black flagged in round 9 at knockhill
He's not wrong though, you see multiple prior instances of other drivers being allowed to race on with similarly flapping rear bumpers just in this series of highlights. I may be a little biased as he is my favourite but it's a valid argument.
My favourite era of bttc
Love this .x.
Mesmerising, beautiful and brilliant.!X
You are an absolute legend for uploading this, I've only ever seen the infamous final round and didn't realise how dominant the Toyotas were at times. I love the BTCC, truly these were the golden years
No worries, pity it's not better quality picture though. Rouse and hoy were fast, what could of been if they hadn't both gone off at brands! Steve Soper was the fastest driver of the year. Interesting anecdote that's not on the vid, Vic Lee, the guy who ran the bmws, and the Labbatts cars prior to that, was found guilty of smuggling cocaine halfway through the season! They used to test at zandvoort and on the way back over he hid it in the trailers, strangely the team were allowed to continue and ultimately win. Vic Lee never came back though and ac schnitzer became the bmw team
@@LeCrawf i may be wrong but I think Vic Lee did have a slight dabble as a team manager in btcc in the early 2000's, then got caught smuggling again. I don't mean to be heartless but the police noticing the constant (and seemingly unneeded) testing at Zandvoort being one of the reasons he was under suspicion does make me laugh a little. Ps i will agree that you're a legend for uploading this. Im still partially locked down and am unsurprisingly going out of my mind. Things like this make it so much better! Hope you're good and staying safe.
@@MrMiD.Life.Crisis sorry I didn't reply much sooner! I didn't know that about Vic, leopards never change their spots! Hope your out of all the lockdown stuff now, it's been a strange few years. I'm going to try upload some more seasons but most of the vids are from Duke publications and they block them all!
got any footage of 1992 other than the finale? can’t find any footage of the full season
I've got the video of 92 somewhere yes, I shall try find it and upload it asap
Finally uploaded 92, bit delayed as was trying to up the quality a bit (the bigger the screen, the worse it looks I'm afraid) I've got the rest of the nineties on vid, but after 93 they're all Duke videos and they won't stand us watching they're stuff! Shame cos I've got some entertaining 80s euro tcc that we can't watch! Enjoy the 92 season :)
Yes it was one of the best years of racing, the 2 litre format was really working with some fantastic racing, and yet its the shortest review vid they made! My personal favourite year was 1989, a huge lack gf Sierra Cossies, just awesome :) I've got most of the nineties so will put some effort in and upload them
'Pack of' Sierra Cossies, not 'lack gf' ! Bloody predictive text
This was a really good VHS review, I used to have it years ago. I've got mixed feelings about parts of it though, as while it covers the Hoy/Cleland battle well, due to time constraints, a lot of good scraps do get edited out (you can see that by watching the full Grandstand footage of rounds 1-5 and 9 on here). Saying that, there look to be interviews done especially for the VHS which is nice😊
