Mixed Bag Upland Hunting over wirehaired pointing griffons: Bows! Birds! Bunnies?
Great day hunting with buddies over wirehaired pointing griffon Dublin and German shorthaired pointer Josie at Little “q” ranch in Oxford, MS.
This mixed bag upland hunt featured release quail and pheasant and we harvested a bonus rabbit.
We tried (off-camera, mostly) to kill a pheasant with a longbow but it is surprisingly difficult even on the ground, let alone on the wing! Nonetheless fun day out shooting with friends.

Ha! Nothing, it’s my sweet friend Audrey Rhodes who helps out with our youth fishing camp. I told her I appreciated her and wanted her to have a hat and to stop by the house and grab one.

Anything special a guy has to do to get a 2 year old griffon to hunt. Mines pretty cowardly. Has a hell of a nose when it comes to finding birds at home when training . But man you get anywhere not familiar and just a chicken shit.

Just stumbled across this. Good stuff. From MS myself...Columbus. My lab and I head up to Iowa every year to chase roosters. I'm hearing there are still very good numbers in the area I go. Maybe we'll run into y'all. Have a great season.
@@rockydabull1711 man that’s great. Labs are helpful in flushing and retrieving wild pheasant and if you read your dog well, they can locate (point) just by handler observing when they get birdy. Hope you have a great season as well my friend.
@@bartonoutfitters There is no doubt when she gets birdy. Mostly a flusher but will stumble on a loose point once in awhile and the birds are holding tight.
