Modeling and Weathering the Little River RxR in HO - a Retrospective
A retrospective on old videos and even older modeling and weathering my layout. Compilation of Steam Era trains structures and more. Classic model trains running on a 50-year-old HO scale layout that is being expanded and upgraded.
Please join us as we loosely model the prototype Little River Railroad in Townsend, Tennessee. The Little River Railroad as well as Little River Lumber Company were founded by Colonel Townsend after whom the town was named.
The prototype was located near and in what is now the Smoky mountain national Park so there is a lot of rugged terrain with hills valleys rivers bridges tunnels and a lot of fun ahead.

Sorry I did not mean to hit send...
Very professional upgrade.
Thank you very much Michael.
@@RobModelsTrains I use your video for inspiration.
I am very honored that you say that. I'm usually very surprised at how easy it is and even more surprised when it turns out so good looking sometimes. Thanks again
@@RobModelsTrains Much appreciated, Thank you.
I have the plywood sections cut out for the GG&N. I'm waiting for 1x4 to go on sale, before I start the bench work. Do you see any problems with using flextrack opposed to sectional track? Thank you for posting your videos!
I very much prefer FlexTrack over sectional track. The only time I use sectional tract is a few curve sections put together to judge the minimum radius for the FlexTrack.
Cool !! Looks great, windows are highly over rated ;)
Thank you for the funny comment!
@@RobModelsTrains your bricks look awesome, you got the mortar and weathering super realistic
Thank you. It's just science project poster board with the paper wet and peeled off and the inner foam scribed for bricks or blocks.
For 40 years old it looks STUNNING!
Thank you. There was a lot of damage to replace
Your layout is really nice
Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. The guardrails really turned out nice with a lot of detail and I was kind of surprised
@@RobModelsTrains the guardrails have a very nice touch with hanging rope.
@@cementiumthey're not actually ropes they're the string things that came off the palm fronds

Is this the Granite Gorge and Northern layout by Atlas?
Yes the original 40+ year old section is the Granite Gorge and Northern and I am expanding it.
Nice blast from the past. Love the old school Mantua and Roundhouse steam power. Haven't watched all your videos yet, but definitely will.
Thank you very much Thomas. I love the old school engines and rolling Stock too

What are you using to create your own rocks you using plaster
Yes Plaster that I got from Lowe's poured into aluminum wrapped rock mold pressed into sand, remove the rock and leave the mold.
I especially like the Indian ink wash. I would like to find something a bit more grey. Do you think adding a bit of white paint would change the characteristic of the wash significantly? Thanks, Ronn
Hello Ronn. My experience with India Ink is that it does not mix well; particularly with acrylics. They do offer different color inks or just make a grey wash. Thank you , Rob
Very interesting and informative
Thank you Richard
Cool 😎
Thank you very much Sophia
