My dad was always mad that The Professor was sluffed off in the opening credits when he’s CLEARLY the most important person on the island making all the equipment out of coconuts!!! 🤣

I remember coming into my moms room and every time she watched it I would say did they get off the island yet? I heard they did that’s the only episode I’ve ever wanted to see. 😅

I was obsessed with this show as a kid. One week, I got grounded from watching TV, and then my schoolmates had to try to explain to me what "The Mosquitos" were...

The openings of Season 2 and Season 3 are virtually identical except for one thing. At the end the Professor and Mary Ann's heads switch places! The song is the same but Dawn Wells goes from the right side of the screen to the left!

I'm starting to get the impression that the Season 2 intro was also used for the seasons that followed it.

The Gnats might have done better if they rehearsed more. Also, the Professor is (incorrectly for him since in real life and depicted on the show Russell Johnson was left handed) playing the guitar right handed - he should hold the guitar the other way just as Sir Paul Mc Carthy does who is also left handed. Later in the episode, it appears Lovey is wearing the same wig that her husband did when the ladies performed as the Honeybees "You Need Us".

Why do they when putting classic TV series on DVD do they change the dang theme songs? Season 3 had more guitar in it and was a little more dramatic

What are the differences between season two and season three?

Any one else notice the Composer for Season ONE? 'Johnny Williams'. AKA John Williams of Star Wars fame!

If they made a film remake of Gilligan’s Island, I could see Michael Cera and Seth Rogan as Gilligan and Skipper, lol.

Always wondered what the direction to the cast was when shooting the end credit sequence “ okay everyone sit on this log and skipper just yell at Gilligan when he drops the firewood off” love these details.

Hello! Great video! However I remember as a child that the 3rd season theme song was slightly enhanced (almost like a sustain pedal on a piano). It is interesting because all of the DVD compilations use the exact opening on the 2nd and 3rd seasons (but both also use the enhanced sound on the closing credits). I actually have the old cassette tape recordings that I made to back up this claim. I have long wondered what happened to that slightly changed version on the 3rd season. Thank you for presenting this!

The opening sequence was filmed at Ala Moana beach in Oahu

Ever notice the season one opening and closing it does look like an actual Hawaiian Harbor and Pacific Island, where as the color ones look more like a marina in Los Angeles and of course the lagoon, where all the action is set, is actually a set at CBS studios and now a parking lot.

No storm warning flags flying at the harbour or the skipper would not have gone out.
