Dodle It’s a hook that grabs and holds the box, it’s powered by the Lego mindstorms motor ;)

so then why couldn't you put the door/drawer/box on the front to make it more like an actual safe?

It's because of the motors length - even though I believe I could figure something smarter out now - I build this safe when I was about 12 years old ;) But the short answer is that the motor wouldn't fit inside the building if I rotated it 90 degrees. Feel free to try for yourself, I'm always open for improvements ;)
