Studio Notes - Adding Skin Texture To Monster Clay
A five minute video showing how to smooth an area of sculpture and then add skin texture. This method is only appropriate for areas without fine detail (don't use it on those wrinkles you've spent hours sculpting). I use lighter fluid and a small brush for detailed work, which I'll record in another video. The sound quality is a little rough because I'm wearing a respirator.

A short video about my work for Bowersock Gallery
This was so dam hard and yet so dam fun! I made SOOOO many mistakes that I had to correct. And when it was done, I fell in love with my creation. Thank you Thank you for teaching me!
Why do you dig out a round hole from the eyeball?
That looks intricate, esp the eyes and neck area.. let alone the teeth
Exactly how do you Schultz a portrait on this type of armature can anyone tell me or is there a video showing …. The ring throws me off LOL
Would be cool if you make a video of making the mold
I could buy a great number of special tools but I would never be able to create anything like that! 🤦 With great respect from Saint Petersburg, Russia. Thank you, Artist!
This is the only tutorial that I’ve found that actually explained things in such a way that a beginner, like me, can understand. You are a wonderful teacher and very good at making sense of how the basics of the eye in relation to using clay . I can’t thank you enough.
I love how you give us step by step instructions! Thank you! I’m going to look at your other tutorials!
Thank you very much, very helpful also regarding the anatomy. 🙌

Best noses I've ever made, wish I could upload a picture! Thank you so much for your clear explanations and demonstrations.

Subscribed, Thanks for this great video. I'm a complete beginner coming from wood carving. I have a question please. I am going to use Polymer clay but am very confused about oven baking and Armatures?? I plan on doing bust portraits only, once I have finished a piece am I to remove the sculpture from the armature to go in the oven?? As I thought the ''live'' on the Amature permanently after you finish?? Sorry for the dumb question but I don't have a clue??
I appreciate you are teaching how to sculpt. Thanks a lot!
Great demo!
Do you do this for a living if you do bravo lad

Hey bro i think we can save you froM the poor struggle 😎
I support the struggle
What did u use for making it smooth ....is it water or something else .....please reply ....i want to know it
Most appreciated and absolutely mind blowing talent you have shared with us in this tutorial which has revived my inner sculptor’s spirit to get my hands in the Clay which btw what type of clay did u use in this video? I usually deal with Air dry clay such as DAS but because if not owning a kiln I stick to mostly air dry could you give us recommendations on what type you use please
Beautiful instruction. Much appreciated. I've always been interested in incorporating more direct sculpting techniques into my mask making. I've been making masks for a few years now using molds, which I do enjoy using but have definitely been interested in upping my game in this area but super intimidated by the prospect. This video and the way you laid the process out so simply and directly inspires me to explore the process... so THANK YOU, very much. I am very grateful I found your channel. Love & well-wishes!!!
Thanks, Neil!
Outstanding video . I’m a beginner and your video is the best. Love your 🧰 tools
EAR..some more to be corrected.. Top portio will be larger than bottom.. Slightly diverge to out.from the skull...also bottom to increase for.. stud wearing..
Thank you for sharing, really informative and makes sense. ❤️
Could you advise on best place in UK to purchase the wood base and small wood pieces? thanks!
Use a wooden kitchen toll holder
Thank you so much, just suscribed
What kind of clay is that
Please make a portrait tutorial! Like how to start a portrait. I always struggle on whether to build up the form at first or to start with a large lump of clay and carve it out.
Brilliant! Made me laugh! Thank you (and Eddie).
Thanks so much for the tutorial. It was very well explained.
👍
Will this technique work with small scale 6-8inch figure and Chavant medium clay ?
I've used it down to about 12" figures. You need magnifying glasses and smaller dental tools. At that scale you might be better looking at some of the Dungeon N Dragons guys who make the small figurines
@@grantyart5292 thank you
Thank you Sir
I just have to say that this is the best tool demonstration I've ever seen!!! 🤣😂💀 I'm dead! Thanks for the laughs!
Awesome
I've watched this tutorial pretty much all day 🤣 I think I'm finally there... Great tutorials - I work with polymer clay, so I've had to change a few things here & there as it's not as forgiving! I've now done the nose & now on to lips. Hopefully I'll end up with something that looks remotely like a face by midnight 🤣 I've subscribed
Very helpful video, thank you
