Filters Have Evolved (Classic Techniques and Introducing Filterverse VST)
Hello everyone!
Feels great to get on the board this year. This time we’re diving into filters with lots of production techniques and also showing off a few of my favourite plugins. I’ve got so much I can’t wait to get into so hopefully I’ll be able to ramp it up for this point onwards. Lots of production breakdowns, livestreams, hardware jam etc 🚀
Big ups all ✌️

Hello everyone! Sorry it's taken me a minute to get this video out. I had a couple of failed attempts at this template & project which slowed everything down. The workflow potential here is insane now with 16 tracks on the Digitakt Mk2, stereo samples & all the new LFO's and FX. Using rolling sampler on the master track in Renoise also made a massive difference and it was so handy for capturing...

Mastering the Keyboard Workflow in Renoise

This one has been long overdue & it feels great to revisit the first topic I ever posted about Renoise! This is all of my workflow tips on the most essential keyboard shortcuts in Renoise. Even though I think this topic is incredibly important, I know its not the most exciting for everyone (especially non renoise users) so I will be back next week with some jungle in Amigo to flip things up. 🚀 ...

This was going to be more or a deep dive sort of breakdown but I ran out of steam a little with this series! I love doing the animations & themes but they certainly take a hot minute. For this video, I decided to go over my favourite two techniques I used to make the track. I especially love the pitch bending way to make effects ✨. Big love to all my Patreon supporters.❤️ I've got a few patches...

Wow, this was one of those project where I really pushed to the max. I’ve always been interested in trying to gamify the learning process of making music. With the help of Midjourney Ai images and Runway AI clips I’m starting to get pretty close to my vision for the videos. I think I need to work on my scripting a little better to help the story really flow but I hope everyone still enjoyed the...

Hello mate. Long time (again!). Just got the Digitone 2 myself so when Overbridge comes for it this could be a lovely combo if they sort the bugs you talk about. Have you tried in Logic to see if it’s Renoise causing the issues? Hope you’re doing well my man.

track list for this video?
can you not record or resample inside renoise the jam you are playing ? im looking for a way to record my track mutes etc, does it resample, if not any idea how i can record my live jams from inside renoise on windows pc ? great videos and so inspiring just want to record my live takes as it were ... thanks
Yes you can record inside of renoise. In the waveform tab - top left side there is a record button. Click that to open the sample recorder. This will repsond to whatever you have set as the input in your Audio settings. I have a M2 MOTU interface that has a loopback recording feature so I can just set the loopback channels here and capture everything that is playing. if you have an older interface without this feature. Another great option is to use rolling sampler. Just stick this VST on your master channel and set the duration to max which is around 10mins I think. then just drag back to renoise - www.birdsthings.com/ Cheers
@@groovining awesome . you the man !
@@markymark627 No worries dude, good luck with the tunes :)
Good 👍
Brilliant video, thank you for this!
Glad you enjoyed this one mate! Need to do some more UKG this year :)✌️
You sir are doing God's work 🙌
Apprecaite that brother 🙏
Good also sample pack 👍
Cheers mate! Glad you like the samples :) 🙏
Wassup bro it’s been a while you blessed me with some 1v1 coachings on maschine that helped me out tremendously I’m at another roadblock plus I don’t trust the mixing in maschine i need to learn how to export to logic to mix & master i watched your video on how to do it still need help do you still offer 1v1s?
Hey mate. Yea for sure I still do on off sessions every now and again. Hit me up groovingbiz@outlook.com ✌
Amazing explanation and in Detail. ✊🏼 Love it. Salute from Brooklyn
Thanks mate! Big ups from London 🙏😊
Great video. Super informative. Thank you. 🙏
Thanks dude! Glad you enjoyed, fun way to kick off the year :) ✌️
thanks for your great video, very inspiring, ive just got back into using renoise after not using it for many years, looking forward to messing around with some samples now.
Glad you enjoyed mate. Renoise is dope, definitly takes a little getting used to after a break but you'll be there in no time :) ✌️
@@groovining hadnt touched it in years, still had my details on the site so downloaded it again as i had paid years ago, and it doesnt take long to get the basic workflow going again, nice one ....
great vid groovin! env follower modulation is underrated af. with a bit of fine tuning you can get some incredible natural movement on all sorts of sounds. love it on the pads, naturally LOL
Thanks dude! Yea you don't see that many people using it. Slow attack and release are usually the way to go & things just sound more alive. Always on pads :) ✌
Great video for the new year! All the best to you in 2025!
Cheers Troy! Was a good way to start things off. Onto the next one now, trying to get the ball rolling this year. More tunes, more vids - hopefully a course at somepoint aswell :) Big ups dude, all the best for 2025 too ✌️😊
Well timed, looking forward to checking out Filterverse.
Big ups Mark mate. Yea its fun! Filters are epic to mess with. I'm gunna distort some 808's in the EMU later and then run them through filterverse :) ✌️🙏
More Filterverse content would be amazing
For sure, It's a dope plugin. Intrested to go deep on a sound design session and see what I can come up with :) ✌️🙏
Great tutorial. Can i ask what you use for sub bass sound/patch?
I essentially use a sine wave bass with a touch of saturation and sometime a little pitch envelope punch at the start. I did a sound design session a while back and made a bunch of dope sub bass's I now use all the time :) ✌️🙏
You Are so professional, keep grovin G, u seem chill to smoke weed with and cookup ❤❤
thanks brother :) I like to chill, we should cook on stream one day! ❤️
@ I really liked your video and all the details, im not forcing u to make more videos on other subjects in music, but just know that u got someone who's excited for more of these videos, and the hiphop example in the beat was classy and clean. the background spacey and everything was also a mood booster because it fit the video so well. and as an added bonus u looking great man :)
@@kriss12loverap Ha thanks friend, appreciate the kind words❤🙏 I'm excited to make thess videos 2! I can't wait to dive into lots of new topics and genres this year and see what I can come up with. Combining animatons/ai/music/themes is what I'm all about atm :)

yo the little hip hop bit with guru was doooope
I liked that bit 2 :) ✌️🙏
I love that drum loop when you introduce filter freak. Any chance you could share the source of the loop?
@@intheblink it’s a custom one I made for the tune at the end :). It will be out in my next sample pack with human synthetics
Hellllll yeah filters!!!! That funnest part of producing IMO.
I love filters too! Hope your having a good start to the year bro :) ✌️🙏
What Softwere Sampler do you use in your computer ?
Amigo, Logic Sampler, Logic Quick Sampler, Renoise Native Sampler :)
Really felt that Filterverse was Skiped over on this one! It's such a powerful tool! Great vid! Great Edit! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed mate! Yea its super powerful and creative. I wanted to show some of the more classic filtering techniques before I dived into FilterVerse. Simple tricks & a bit of movement often go a long way :) ✌️🙏
nice 👍
Thanks mate :) ✌️🙏
Excellent video
Cheers mate - glad you enjoyed :) ✌️🙏
Been using Ableton for many years, Renoise was the first time I heard about trackers. Been wondering how it all works out and you showed it in an easy and interesting way. Thanks a bunch :)
Happy to hear :) That was exactly the purpose of this video, to get people into Renoise from other DAWs. Ableton is great but Renoise is also dope once you get past that initial learning curver. Then you have both! ✌️🙏
Filterverse is incredibly versatile and sounds great, God bless Polyverse 🙃. As for Airwindows, objectively, this emulation sounds much worth than E-MU sampler in your example. I own UltraProteus with 256 types of Z-Plane filters, read all I managed to find about this technology, which really unique. I'm sure, at present the only way to use their power - buy used Morpheus or UltraProteus. Thanx for a nice video!
Yea it's dope actually, fun having a filter vst that does so much. Super Creative for sure. I should have made it a bit clearer in my example that I was using Logic's Quick Sampler filter to show a native DAW filter vs the EMU e5000, EMU wins every day of the week! They do just sound great - amazing for sound design stuff but cool to combine with filterverse maybe? :)👨🔬
@@groovining I like your creative videos, so any experiment from your side is welcome 😋
Wait till it's back on sale @ $99 (or less) it's overpriced @ $149!
$99 certainly makes it a bit more accessable. Plugins getting expensive these days! That's why I love Amigo - so cheap and useful for what you pay :) ✌️🙏
Awesome tips THANK YOU!
No worries mate - glad you found it useful :) ✌️🙏
you are good at video editing
Thanks, I do my best! still trying to find my perfect style :) ✌️🙏
Airwindows mentioned, that guy is legendary!
I love some of those plugins. Air windows consolidated makes them so much easier to use also :) ✌️🙏
@@groovining Yeah, they are awesome!
A very well done and accessible explainer. Can't wait to hear that track at the end in some city-building sim game. 🎧😄
Cheers mate, yea It definitly has that vibe! I need to mix/master it a bit better then its pretty much done :) ✌️🙏
Such a great tutorial, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed this one mate :) ✌️🙏

This is super useful as I'm in the process of buying one of these samplers (AKAI s2000xl)
Amazing mate - that was the reason for this video. Glad it was useful :) ✌️
Thank you,you are natural born for this 🤘🏻
Appreciate that friend :) ✌️
Thanks man! This is super useful for someone new to working with breaks and Amigo, with a bonus that I’m in Logic too. Never would have thought to time stretch and pitch it in Logic before putting it in Amigo - very simple and makes so much sense.
Happy to help mate. Glad to find some other Logic user's out there. Everyone's left us for Ableton these days! :) ✌️
hi i have a question where do i pay in US currency?
I'm sure you can just pay via card or PayPal and it will auto convert?
@groovining ok thank you
Apreciate your vids man! How did you got your Keystep setup so you only can play the midi without the arp and sequencer, are you always stopping after triggering the clock?
I have the clock settings at the back of the keystep set to internal so it desen't trigger at all from the Digitakt :)
I want to use this to make breakcore, but the tutorials I've found all rub me the wrong way
I would say just give it a crack, read the manual. Look up the native tutorial series for a few tips. It's got a harder learning curve than most DAWs but once you're over that initial bit you're good. ✌️
Thank you! Picked up some really useful tips here! It’s definitely inspired me to start using marque tool more! 👊
All good, thanks for the comment :). Yea the Marque tool is everything in Logic, saves so much time! ✌️
good stuff man, thank you!
No probs mate! Glad you found it useful :) ✌️
Fire!
Thanks dude! Glad you've been enjoying the Digitakt mk2 vids. I've been so busy recently but looking fowards to getting stucking back into some hardware stuff again this year. Big ups ✌️
Your music sounds amazing.
hey! just recently came across ur channell and i can tell that is one of the best hidden gems in regards of quality and usefullness all over YT... real producing. love it. keep it up my man, and thank you :))

What's your take on the Hive - Devious Methods album?
Drum programming is fire. Excellent sound design, sounds a little like it was produced on a tracker with all the edits. Very cool, never heard it before! 🔥
@@grooviningthe entire album is great, imo. His first album was a DJ Shadow type of hip hop record. This album was his second as I recall. Discovered him with his first album. The track Ultrasonic Sound off the Devious Methods album got picked up by an American football broadcast show as their opening track some years back. Most of the album is more jungle. I’m guessing you listened to the Devious Methods track, which is probably the most hip hop track.
Hive is most likely best known for appearing on the Matrix soundtrack with his track "Ultrasonic Sound".
@@thesurgingmassthe track is called Neo
Yea I like it, has a dope Raw & dark style. I like hearing Hip-Hop produced on trackers too. Hard to get right with all the swings etc. Need to get into more of this! So many things inspiring me atm :)
I have an Akai S2000 here that I bought for cheap and replaced the floppy drive with a usb stick reader. Now I didnt really have time yet to do something useful with it yet, but I really should after watching this video. 😊
Just try resampling some stuff in and out. Pitch up the breaks an octave or two or three! record them in. then pitch them back down in the Akai and listen to the difference :)
i so in love with this plugin ! bang for the bucks and give me flashback to my childhood ..using it all the times ! atm my studio cumputer ´s motherboard burned down under a remix task and Amigo has been helping my keeping cpu down on my old laptop so i can still work .. its really like night and day when you play a single note on a cpu hungry synth / sample it and play it in amigo with chords and get lowfi sound as a bonus <3 also its nice for basslines when i use my beatstep pro ... A funny little future request from me would to be able to automate the palette editor´s R/G/B ´s from example Ableton lfo tool to use you are lighting up a joint or recording a little video of track for youtube .. A more serius request would be to be able to split slices output from amigo out to diffrent audio channels so you can use a sigle instant of amigo in ableton drum rack + external intrument racks on the last 15 pads !
I love Amigo also :) It's dope and such a simple UI. Sad to hear your computers been down and out. Makes you realise how far they've come when your back on an old laptop! Nice idea about the RGB and the multi-output option would be cool also. I will pass on the info to the developers ✌️
