Quick Tip Regarding Removal of Front Trim Panels
Переглядів 4235 місяців тому
Those stealthy SeaDoo designers To remove the front trim panels there is a tang with an ear up underneath, that you have to grab and pull down on, while you slide the pane to the rear. Yes Yes Yes stand on your head to see and remove the 8mm screw that attaches the piece to the hull at the outboard side before you start yanking on things.

Hey Bill, thinking about installing the footwell drains. I know you plumbed your drains to the pump, and I am curious if they will drain when the ski is sitting on the trailer? For me, washing the ski is when the lack of a footwell drain is the most bothersome.
They don't..but I use a short piece of garden hose to siphon the water out if any is there like from my washdown. I also use a wet dry vac.
Do you have to remove the speaker?
I think so .but I am not sure as I do no thave them.
Thanks for the info. Quick question , how do you remove the top? Mine is really tough to get out.
You are exactly right it is a bear to remove and break the seal sometimes. What I had to do is get a stubby screwdriver.
And put it in between the top of the housing to break the seal then I was able to get my fingers to be able to pry the seal and transducer top off of the housing
Bill, my wife has the 2019 Fish Pro and right after we bought it I used your idea of installing the little reservoir for holding additional fluid for the transducer. I also installed the newer seal, but it continues to leak. Assuming that you (not Sea-Doo) added that reservoir to your 2023 Fish Pro? Can I also assume that Sea-Doo still hasn’t figured out how to fix the transducer cup leak issue?
Yes that is a roger... they need to resolve this. Have you checked to see if the tube is zip tied to the littl port at the bottom. I have seen then zip tie whenr the tie was not on the fitting but on the tub side . that little port/nipple is hard to see and get to. I am wondering if your tube is leaking wher it is supposed to connect. to the Sensor housing reservoir. Cau you blow air thru the tube and hear /see where it is escaping the fluid
@@billjenkins1535 I do have the tube zip tied, and even bought the special ones that are designed for clamping around tubing. I'll try blowing through it and see if I can detect where it is leaking from. I have NOT added the screws to the lid. Have you tried using ultrasonic gel instead? I saw a post from someone claiming that he solved his leak by using it. Might give that a try. We're heading to Lake Havasu in a couple weeks to catch the World Jetski Finals. Will be taking the skis to explore the lake so it will be a good test for the gel.
@@lizdaryl Have not tried the gel as the screws fixed it and it was such a pita to get things set up and I just did not want to kick that sleeping dog!
Instead of using a liquid to fill the housing void (anti-freeze), I used a $5.00 bottle of Ultrasound gel from Amazon. It doesn’t go anywhere, hell I didn’t even use a gasket. I placed the rubbery tube on the housing and left it open to the air as I pushed the transducer down allowing the excess gel to fill the tube. I then plugged the end of the tube and zip tied it to a wire bundle. This crappy designed Garmin transducer mounting system is now fixed. I used four screws instead of six.
Here is the fix, I have the crappy design as well 2021 Garmin Headache. Pull the transducer out. Take the tube off. Get a new seal. Get ultrasound gel from Amazon. Place seal on transducer, before placing it in the hold mount fill the void with the ultrasound gel. Pack the hose with just an inch or two of gel, but don’t place it yet on the nipple. With the transducer housing packed with gel, place the transducer and seal into placement. As you push down, gel will squeeze out the nipple. Place the hose and new zip tie or hose clamp. Next drill two holes at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position and screw in, two small half inch stainless steel screws. Cut the tube off about six inches pass the nipple, place a wood dowel in it and use a stainless steel small band clamp around tube encasing the wood dowel. You will never have to add anti-freeze for the remainder of the life of the ski.
What about a dab of silicone under the retention nut?
Good thought, however, I had the same thought a while back and tried it, but found that my silicone lost adhesion and the insert fell to the botton one to many times. Could work for you however.
In a pinch just wrap the post with good old electric tape.
Hi Bill, I just followed your channel. I would like to know a couple of things as my wife and I just got some new to us Sea Doo's. She has the GTI 170 and I have the Fish Pro both are 2021. We are just a couple of older people from Florida and after years of boating we figured we would try Jet Skis. That said question number one has to do with the Flexnut you put in. I want to do that as well but I cannot seem to find the size of the nets. I can get them off Amazon but I am not sure what size the bolts are. Can you help? Also can you send me as much information as you have on those footwell drains? I would love to add them on both skis but I do not know where it drains to. Thank you in advance and best to you.
That plus nut is a 6mm which is the size of the machine screw that is used stock to hold down the deck. CC-SM6PB12.70-ZYR (Steel M6 Pre-Bulb Plus Body, Flat Head, Grip Range: 7.10-12.70, Zinc Yellow RoHs C1000-M6 M6 x 1.0 Wrench Type Manual Plus Body Installation Tool On the footwell drains. I used a Yamaha footwell drain part. Cut a hole in the footwell. It is a tight fit for the Yaqmaha part which I had to cut down a bif at the discharge plastic, and and piped it to the rear using Pex Tubing from HomeDepot, The tubes are connected at the rear to a tee, and then a Pex single tube is connected to the auto siphon tube that comes stock on the ski and sucks the water out of the starboard side thru transom port.
Hey Bill, no idea how to reach you so Thought maybe a comment would get to you. I have a 2019 fishpro as well and have had to figure out a pretty irritating issue. Not interested in publishing myself but happy to tell you about it and send you a couple videos. It’s related to the fuel sensor fault that causes limp mode. Happened twice in two seasons but I think it’s figured out now.
Pop the videos to the SeaDoo FishPro & DYI Facebook group and we can all see it and your info!
Great mods, but can you show or explain better how the foot well drain hoses are plumed into the factory bulge?
At the rear of the ski there are 2 clear hoses/tubes that are used for the stock auto-siphon bilge feature. ( Sometimes, one of these is used for the discharge for the after-market Seadoo electric bilge pump. My skid did not have that vertical electric pump)) These tubes have a vacuum on them when underway. These tubes are affixed to the 2 thru-hull fittings at the rear of the ski and these then terminate in the 2 venturi tubes that you can see at the top of the jet pump discharge nozzle when looking at the pump discharge from the rear of the ski.. This placement of those tubes in the jet stream causes a vacuum in the tubes when underway and the vacuum is what sucks water out of the hull while underway. I took the one on the right side of the ski, and instead of having the suction intake tube stuck at the bottom of the hull area, I put a connection on the end of it and then connected that to the tubing that runs from the footwell drains to the read of the ski. As seen in my video, the left and right footwell drain pipes (white pex tubing form the hardware store) are connected together at the rear and the vacuum them gets to both drains in the footwell. on the starboard, I guess you can use pvc for the tubing but I used the PEX.
You said these will rip you from your ski at speed. Can you elaborate on that? Did these cause you to fall off or lose control?
No loss of control or falling off. I was just amazed at how they did not degrade tge ability to cut and turn at all. I wad a anticipating that it would make the ski handle somewhat sloppy but that was not the case at all
If you are going 45 mph and you turn hard be prepared to hold on just like you would have to hold on without them
Great video thanks! How the heck did you remove the hatch lid strut?
What you have to do to remove the front hood piece so that you can angle the front Locker lid up a bit more. And then what you do is you hold it with a rope tied to the front of your trailer hitch so it doesn't fall down and hit your head or your hand after you remove the strut. After you have done that and put a little tension on it then you unscrew the strut I unscrew from the top connector that is a gray
Very helpful. Thanks.
Mate, do you know what the nuts are called that are down the bottom of the that cover
That is called Housing Nut M6 Part Number is 291004813 I could only see in on the parts diagram for the Fishpro 2019 model!
What did you attach it to on your ski?
I attached the reservoir through the little mounting hole on the reservoir itself with a sheet metal screw to the top of the fuse box cover
Hi, my name is Sergio, I'm from Brazil, I have a 2015 FishPro, I'm having problems with the transducer seal, do you sell the seal?
I do not but they can be bought online for example kps-sa.dealerspikeparts.com/oemparts/p/sea_doo/292002447/seal the seal part # is 292002447
So in the 2024 fishpro the top two screws have the captive screw holders. I lost the top port female in the engine bay. I have tried to find it, but it has not been found yet. Is there an order # to replace them ? I could use a 6 MM nut and washer, but I was wondering if you had any info on where to get them. I have looked all over Amazon and the net for them. Thank you Dave.
Humm you meant the nut that is used at the head end of the cover? This are 6mm nuts and they have a nylon insert to keep them positioned after tightening. These are stainless but I think they use brass which is better if you can get it, because even stainless corrodes in salt water. www.amazon.com/M6-1-0-Nylon-Insert-Stainless-Steel/dp/B0BHQNH3D9?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
Great piece of information: but I need help in removal of the speakers and the trim piece aft of the forward trim piece?

Don't think its necessary to cut a hole . I have lost that same nut and was able to reach and replace it when you lean over and extend your arm .. no problem there ...
My hands and arms were too fat!
Hi there, what is the best way to contact you for business inquiries on the Jetski accessories?
Hi Bill , I just received the 24 Sea Doo Fish PT. I ordered the factory bildge pump, which always runs when the accessory mode is on. I also have a 32 AMP bigger battery coming to help with the battery load. I was wondering what do you think of the draw on the batteries while the damn bildge runs? I have only a few min on the ski this season, not yet broken in. Greetings from Montauk LI NY .
These factory bulges do no draw like a trolling motor or the radio when the accessory mode is on. My recollection is that the accessory mode will shut OFF if the battery draws down to 11.xx volts, so as to not over-drain things and leave enough to start the ski.. On that factory "always running" bilge. That noise drives many folks crazy especially it they are fishing. Many remove the factory bilge and replace it with float activated bilge pump wired direct to the battery. In this case of being wired direct, if the float activated bilge is running, it draws juice from the battery as long as the bilge is firing. Because of this, the battery can drain completely. That said, it the bilge is draining the battery because it is firing and discharging water for that long , then you got a bigger issue than a dead battery - you are going to be sinking.
Good stuff. Thx
You bet
What kinda pump did you use?
Thus is the one that fits nicely.. SAILFLO Automatic Submersible... www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKYM62Q?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Awesome page man.
Thanks a bunch!
I bought the garmin kit to go on my RXTX and was confounded. How i'm supposed to install this transducer
Saw your comments. I just put tsome RTV black gasket maker in the holes to try out. Fresh water only here. I did some tests with a hose and as you mentioned, water accumulates and when I opened my lid, the water drains out of the two front holes. But I didn't notice anything sloshing into my storage. Maybe the speed at which you open it makes a difference. I'll be testing it out too. I suspect I just have to open the lid slowly so it drains out the front at a steady pace. The gasket maker is easy to remove if I'm not happy too with this. Thanks for this idea.
I would be tempted to use a dab of epoxy vs the silicone or a added fastener. Use a stiff card to push it in and remove the excess flush.
That can be a good thing to try out i figure. As an update, I found that with my holse plugged, the water does accumulate like another user said, and that when opening, the surge of accumulated water inthe waffles toward the front drain holes, which were not filled, is so great that it sloshes still into the storage bin. I have now removed my hold plugs and over-drilled the drain holes, so that when the hood is closed, the water gets out faster while I am using the ski, and then when opening the hood, it will ( hopefully) have drained out better because of the over-drilled holes. I will keep folks posted on the outcome.
Hi Bill. Love your content. Can you pls help me to remove side speakers on my 2022 trophy?. I losen up the side holds and speaker is losen up now but somehow it holds back on the bottom that I can’t pull it out. Thnx
I felt some sarcasm in there towards the end ;) hahahaha Cool modifications. I have a 2023 GTX. Those auto foot well drains is a clever idea. And totally agree it's freaking annoying that those draings empty in the storage bin. I saw your other video on this. I'll be having a closer look for sure. Merci!
Great video. Both of our fish pros are acting up. Gonna get this done tmrw!
You bet.. I found a little trick for topping off. I recently had to go thru the process of a refill, and instead of taking the top off completely and adding fluis to the well, after pulling back on of the ears a bit to release it from one side of the top , while holding the ear back, I inserted a stubby flathead screwdriver tip between the housing and the top, and gave a little twist to break the seal. The still holding the ear back a bit. I "injected" the fluid and the pressure raised the top just enough so that the fluid flowed into the housing, driving out any air and overflowed the top. When I saw that I pressed down on the top and clicked it into place. You look like a 3 armed paperhanger getting your hands all positioned to do this but it worked out for me. BTW - On those ears, I know folks use zip-ties to keep them secures. I found that a Charlie Haywood clothes pin works, AND that a runner door stopper wedge works great too! ALSO - Look into replacing any Yellow Seal with the improved RED one.
Absolutely up front where you can see it. Most people have no clue that a bilge pump will not keep it from sinking...never has been for that purpose on any boat. It's a indicator you have a problem and if you can't see it you won't know until it's too late.
EXACTLY!
Add two rivnuts up front and replace all those bolts with thumb screws.
Love the videos Bill! Look forward to seeing more.
Hey thanks. I figure that if it helps one other person it is good.
That is a good idea. I have not noticed the issue on my ski. At the same time, I do not ride nearly as often as you do, nor have I been down to the coast yet. Thanks for the info!
You bet. It just was getting on my nerves.
🎉🎉🎉.. always appreciate the updates
Great mods - Thanks for sharing 👍
How did you do the rubber shroud?what did you use
I just got some old kind of stiff rubberized material and use it. I bet one of this thin kitchen cutting mats could work great. Just crease it so it folds properly away from the storage locker wen you close the hood.
Hey Bill, where did you obtain those screws you have mentioned in the video, I can’t find them in mine local stores…, thanks.
BelMetric Online or here is a link from google ...www.fastenersuperstore.com/products/298704/self-tapping-screws?pid=17345
Do you have any experience taking the entire top half of your hull off?
wow never done that. Can it even be done. I was thinking that the top clamshell is glued to the bottom clamshell
Bill, love your set up you really done something, hats off to you! Where did you have the front equipment bracket made? I would absolutely love that setup for my front..
Hey Christopher -- In a previous life I had access to tool and die maker machine shops, and so I worked with one of the senior fabricator/machinists to fit this and that and hack and chop, until I got what I wanted. They were the kind of palace that makes space shuttle parts. ( and the cost is about the same). Started the ride to Florida from Corpus Christi, but only made it to Morgan City and broke a tooth. (SMH) had to turn back and lick my wounds. Great ride though.. Looking toward the upcoming ride season to see how things will work out this time. Where you ride out of?
What’s the part number?
Welding on the plenum by a chimp.
What fluid is being used
Antifreeze that is used for RVs. That is the kind that is non toxic to marine life.
any chance you have a short video how to remove the hydraulic piece that holds the hood open?
Remove the hood trim in front of locker and you can open the hood more and relieve the tension and pop it out of the ear track
The seal on the wife’s FishPro went bad at less than 30 hours, but I was told there was a “known” issue with the seals at the time we bought her ski. It was obvious it was failing because it created a distinct black line on the hull inside the engine compartment. The new seal came with a rubber cover that will prevent it from slinging the carbon in a 360 pattern inside the hull. Instead the rubber cover restricts the slinging to the bottom of the hull. How did you know it was time to replace your seal…was it taking on water, slinging carbon everywhere, etc? We too ride the Laguna Madre, but mainly the San Bernard River and the Intracoastal between Galveston and Matagorda.
Cool to see that you ride there too.. I know that area well, as it is along my route from Corpus to Galveston. OMG Matagorda Bay in the wind .. Yee Haw. As to your question, mine did not have the revised seal shroud, so it started being a bit dirty in the hull area, and there was a slight haze of moisture inside there too after these Galveston to Matagorda kind of rides. . No standing water, but it was "wet". Have had the same issue as you at 30 hrs when I first bought the ski, and I heard from a tech that there was a bad batch of carbon from manufacturing. The replacement lasted about 100 hrs. This one lasted about 75. One thing, I also noticed was that the SS hat had a bit of discoloration looking like rust around the outer edge. My new seal now has that shroud, and telling when a seal is needing attention is going to be a lot harder. I think that SeaDoo did things that way because of complaints about " My engine bay is dirty". When these seals wear they throw dust as part of their working design but I think that riders want to see a spotless engine bay.. The wear dust has to go somewhere and those users that give photos of clean engine bays ar 500 hrs are either fibbing or riding if very clean waters. On this new seal shroud, I know that there is that little rectangle view-port in the shroud, and presumably that is there so as to "look" directly at the hat/seal edge-line, but that is, imo, going to be hard to gauge. Speaking of gauges, I would like to see a measurement gauge to put onto that interface of the hat and the seal so as to read the wear amount. Just looking at it is going to be kind of sketchy imo. I maybe could have gone fro more hours on my ski, but when you are going to be gone for 10 days on these long trips, and when your little voice speaks to you, I have found it best to listen, if you be catching my drift.
Yeah Yeah Yeah it is a carbon seal not a wear ring. I was just testing yall!
hi bill where are your racks from? Did you build them?
Yes I built them
Nice1. So annoying that the transducers are so shit considering the cost. Also those arrows point forward in the 22 trophy
Where does the hose go?
The tube that comes stock on the ski just Loops up and then you will fix it to one of the components so that the end of the tube is above the transducer fluid level. I have another video that shows how I extend this tube up to the front of the ski and affix it to a reservoir cup used for motorcycle brake fluid so that I can fill this tube directly from taking off the seat instead of having to take off the rear deck to check the fluid level or fill it.
Does the transducer come out of the housing pretty easy? Mine seems to be in there pretty tight. There’s no screws in the top. It doesn’t seem to budge when I pull on it. Is there a trick to it?
It kind of gets adhered to the housing. Small screwdriver a one side to break the seal.
