This does work most of the time with rechargable batteries that won't charge. You just need to be careful with the jumper wires, at around 1:10 in the video (as well as others), the 'other' end of the cable was floating around and could potentially SHORT! There won't be much current from the 'dead' battery, but short the 'good' battery and you will get a healthy spark. That said, the charger will only charge when the battery to be charged has a voltage in the 'acceptable' charging range (nominally 2.5 to 4.2V per cell). You should also charge the battery away from flammable material, and keep an eye on it, because a faulty battery may fail and catch fire. Once charged, wait a few minutes or half an hour, check the voltage then leave it for a while (without using it), days or preferably a week, then check the voltage again. if the voltage has dropped (significantly) then there is a problem with the battery, if it hasn't, the battery should be good to go, but the BMS should have stopped the battery being usable when the cell voltage gets down to min (2.5V although some BMS's have a higher minimum, 2.8-3V). The voltage drop of a resting battery (ie, sitting in your tool bag waiting to be used) should be very low, tenths of a voltage over weeks.

Nice - do you have any idea what the "Tool" and "Charger" pins do in these Bosch types of battery? I wonder if there is actual serial/data communications to & from tools & chargers - or maybe just simple high/low triggers...?

I tried the 18V makita reset myself but it does not work. The chip inside battery goes to lockout on a fault. Makita usa will reset them. Makita uk will not. Go figure

I use the SureBonder Ryobi adapter for my Milwaukee batteries. Opened it open, splice the wires and wired a low voltage cut off board to it to protect the batteries. There’s another YT video on that. I use it on the random niche Ryobi tools that I have. Saves me from investing in another battery ecosystem. I’ll be wary about using the adapter long term.

I had to toss mine out after it decided to flash red and not charging when the battery charged fine on another charger!!!!!!!!!!!!! and even with using panasonic eneloop batteries on that charger it sometimes works but other times refuses to work

Do you have rechargeable Duracell batteries that make your charger flash red and won't charge? I put them in the freezer overnight, some have taken a charge right out of the freezer and others I let come back to room temp and they took a charge. This is a recent discovery, not sure how they will perform. Disclaimer, I'm not a doctor.
