First Hunt / Great Hike
first bear/moose hunt turned into a camping/hiking trip in 16A
Beautiful place w/ lots of evidence of animals, but no sight of what we were after. Only ducks, grouse, birds, and a lynx.

A quick overview on this collapsible 8" f/5.9 dobsonian telescope. Great scope for beginners and amateurs with portability in mind. Please forgive me for the sub par audio and video quality, I just wanted to get this video out there ASAP to hopefully help others looking into buying a scope and had this one in their sights. Please let me know what you think in the comments below! Ask any questio...

@@kaden9572 GSO 8" white dobsonian telescope or 8" Orion XT8. Remember GSO is 2 cheaper in India with price of 38400 which is around 470$ I guess. Remember I only have budget till Orion XT8. For GSO 8" I can also have money to buy camera ASI224mc-s. So what would u prefer for me
thanks! I haven't found an explanation anywhere of what this hole in the cover is for...
So from you video, am I correct to say that the prime focus of the scope can reach the camera sensor? I have Orion Space probe 130 st and its prime focus cannot reach the sensor, so I cannot take any pictures with it. Thanks.
@@ptanawong yep! With the correct T-mount I had no issues with taking images and video.

@@saminewlin4523 thank you. If there’s a song you’d like me to attempt I’d love to try and play it
hi , do you still have it ? can you give dimensions of it , i want to know how tall and wide it is
By chance do you have a phone adapter that you’d recommend? I have the same telescope and was curious if you used one?
What's the name of the song?
House on Sand by Nothing More
Definitely this is quality content
Nice video and thanks for sharing. I am considering getting this telescope now that one can find them for about $800. Do you still think this is a good telescope to have considering that your video is 3 years old?
I would say so! The price of them has definitely increased though, I spent about 500 when I bought it… that’s crazy it’s gone up so much. The scope has helped up well though!
@@kaden9572 wow! You got yours for a good deal. This very one was going for $1200 but was marked down to $799 from HighPointScientific. I thought it was a good deal. Thanks again for sharing and responding to my question.
Have you tried collimating this? Secondary looks a bit wobbly on those extensions
Once it extends they lock into place nicely. You also tighten them down, after that there is no play or wiggle at all. That said, no I haven't collimated it yet!
@@kaden9572 its really hard to believe. Might try and find one in real life and get touchy feely. Ty for the video i look forward to watching others.
@@jesuschrist2284 sounds good! Once I collimate I'll give you an update as well 👍

wow loacttion 😍😍
Particle board Base, What a joke!
Whats wrong with particle board as a base? Or do you regularly soak your scope lol?
Love mine!, I got the solid tube version, These are amazing scopes!, it's so big my Girlfriend calls it the mini observatory 👍🏽😂, Great channel man, subbed up!
🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤congratulations to all God bless them and protect them thank you for the video nice music in back ground I am shaking my head while watching😂😂😊😀😆 much love for you guys from Uganda🇺🇬
HI~I would like to ask what kind of bag i can keep the telescope? Which platform i can buy it ?
Have you tried removing the 3 rubber stoppers on the extension tubes so the two parts actually close tight and put the rigid cover on the top part. I've read that some do that so it closes completely for storage.
I haven't, but I just might
Kaden - can you add link to the phone adapter you used in the video? Thanks!
Different brand but same mount I used here: SVBONY Universal Cell Phone Adapter Mount Telescope Phone Mount for Binocular Monocular Spotting Scope Telescope Support Eyepiece Diameter 25 to 48mm a.co/d/4pJZFpC HOWEVER, if you're going to be doing phone astrophotography I'd recommend this one as it will make life a lot easier: Celestron - NexYZ - 3-Axis Universal Smartphone Adapter for Telescope - Digiscoping Smartphone Adapter - Capture Images and Video Through Your Telescope or Spotting Scope a.co/d/cwK9bHU
@@kaden9572 Thank you very much!
I'm Antonio from Italy, i have the telescope "Skywatcher heritage" 130/650 with parabolic mirror from AMAZON for only 188 Euros (price). Low price but high quality of mirror. With my ejepiec "Super 3,6mm" (180 X)The Moon, Jupiter and Saturn sharp images, in Saturn i look the white belt on planet and in Jupiter the shadow of moons.
Realy nice
Awesome video thanks, I think I'm going to buy one of these tomorrow second hand, I'm excited
Yep haha it's been confirmed, I'm getting for just 350aud, just 2 lenses included, only downside I've gotta catch the train with a mate to then lug it back together because mum's car broke down (I'm 16) Should put this telescopes portability to the test hahaha
WOW, This is also a planetkiller view with this Dob!
how many inches of eyepiece can i use?
What kind of phone mount is that?
There are many mounts that are similar to this one, I believe this particular one I got on Amazon called "svbony universal cell phone adapter mount"
@@kaden9572 thank you! That gives me a better starting point for searching.
@@lisa6223 happy to help!
Thank you.
Very well done review. I wonder if you have any thoughts on go-to versus manual Flextube Dobsonians?
I wish I did! I've yet to try one of their go-tos 😅
Thanks mate - clear and concise video! How are you going with it over time? Any essential upgrades as I'm looking at one 👍
Still loving it. I definitely recommend buying or building your own sleeve cover to cover up the open section when it's extended. This will make your images clearer and add more contrast, especially if you're near external light sources
Thank you!
thanks Kaden. Is this appropriate for 10 yr old and 13 yr old children or should i go for 130p ?
The kids I've had use this love it! It is pretty heavy, though. So if it's just for them, I'd maybe opt for a smaller scope!
I got this recently and planets are just large white circles. Unsure what causes this to happen
Out of focus or collimation, did you get it sorted ?
Great and informative video .. best I have been able to find showing details of the accessories. Best part is the photos that show the details of what you see .. and that you can take some basic photos with the scope. How as the collapsible tube/assembly held up since you purchased?
It's actually held up really well! Still locks into position find. I'm actually surprised how well the collimation is holding up with it being collapsed back and forth so much
I'll be getting the 10" goto version shortly. Its absolutely gorgeous. Next will be the 14" goto. The 14" is my dream scope.
Oh man that's going to be amazing. Let us know how you like it!
Wow
Thank you for this video. Would it be possible to place this on a slope? Or should I use some other equipment to do that?
I have placed it on small slopes like my driveway with no issues. Depending on how steep the slope is you should be fine. It's function will remain almost unchanged. Just maneuvering the pan and tilt of the scope would be slightly altered.
@@kaden9572 Thank you!
I've been trying to find out what the pros/cons are of getting a collapsible dob vs one with a solid tube... anyone have any ideas? btw, I can tell the collapsible one would be more compact but that's about the only difference I can gleam lol
Because you're moving it around more, you'll have to collimate the telescope more often. Also, with a collapsable dob you can't use it for looking at the sun even with a solar filter. It still let's in too much light from the open section. Also, because it has that open section, it let's in more light from it's surroundings. So if you're near houses or other sources of light from nearby, that light will find its way inside through the open section and hurt your contrast and such. As far as I can tell, it's nothing drastic. I've used it in my backyard in the middle of town and can still see Jupiter, Saturn, and their moons just fine. But that's pretty much all of the cons I can think of... Pros are like you said, lighter, more portable, and also, you have the ability to do binocular viewing if you buy a binocular eyepiece set. Never tried it, but it looks way cool! I hope this helps!
Oh, also, to cope with the contrast issue, many people buy or make shrouds that wrap around the open section when it's extended and use a nice opaque fabric. You can buy these from sky-watcher directly as well, I think they're like $80. But that's gets rid of one con!
@@kaden9572 ok cool, thanks for all the info! I'm leaning more towards a solid tube, especially since you can look at the sun with one (with a filter of course). That's something I never even thought of trying with a telescope lol clear skies Kaden :)
@@SeanDS89 totally! I didn't know this until after I bought this one... But I totally understand! Getting a scope for the sun is definitely on my list of things to get hahah I've seen some amazing photos of the sun and man I gotta try it some day. Have fun with your scope!
@@kaden9572 thanks man, you too :)
Does anyone have any idea where to buy this in europe? (not the goto version)
does the screws, directly screw into the particle board or the screws are screwed into a pre threaded metal dowel when attaching the boards.
@@MegaGloryhunter there are pre-threaded locations
For Saturn and Jupiter you can use the power of you dobsionan taking videos and then process them with the softwares PIPP and Registax
Great programs!
Thanks !!
